which game intro do you ALWAYS watch?
mine's fallout 2. ~ the old skool 1950's B&W film graphics ~ "duck and cover" nuclear holocaust survivability mentality ~ great louis armstrong theme song, "kiss to build a dream on" ~ first words "war... war never changes". i always get the shivers. i'll open the game just to watch the intro alone and i'm notorious for skipping game intros after the first time. Fallout and Fallout 2. Sometimes Planescape: Torment.

Both Fallouts are great.
But mine's Dawn of War *Crackle* Reinforcements are on route! |
Fallout 2, the way it "mystifies" some events. The FEV virus is described as a evil "corrupting all it touched, twisting them inside, turning them into beasts."
|
Dawn of War is a work of art, aye. It's currently number 2 on my list. I'm still expecting a game who's intro tops that of StarCraft: Brood War.
Freespace 1 is on 3rd place, Freespace 2 is on 4th place, while the 5th place is held by FEAR, a game I can not play due to requirements. |
When I saw this thread I thought to myself: "I'm gonna say Fallout 2" but it seems I've been beaten. :D
|
(1)Red Alert 2, Seeing Soviets war machine marching into US bring deep satisfaction inside.
(2)Red Alert 2 : Yuri's Revenge (3)Diablo 2 : LOD |
MECHWARRIOR!!!! the very first intro game i thought was so cool with the madcat and other mechs fighting each other off. i was totally drooling over it nearly 10 years ago! :D

As for me? Katamari Damacy. It's more of the music than anything else.
http://img.engadget.com/common/image...11636178412834 Na naa, na na na naa na naa na, na na naa na naa
|
It was really neatly done, and carries the tone of the game and the other director's cut videos well.
RA2 intro has a special place, but not within the first 5. Mainly because of hideous acting of some characters. |
Yeah, C&C series, Mechwarrior and Dawn of War are definantly at the top of the list
|
Speaking of Mechwarrior, remember the intro to Mechwarrior 2? That's another favorite of mine.
"Alpha this is HQ, do you read me?" (Nope, he's been blown away.) |
Yeah, mines are Fallout 2 and Dawn of War.
I was disapointed when they didn't make a new intro for the expension Winter Assault, I would have liked one of Imperials fighting something in the snow. |
Thief 1 and 2.
|
I was always fond of the M&M7, and HoM&M3 intro movies.
|
i am hoping someone who owns mechwarrior (microsoft i think now), would recreate the very 1rst mechwarrior game.. that was sooo coool!
|
It might be an intro, might not, but I'm quite partial to the whole "Summary of Baldurs Gate" before BG II starts up.

Hmm, well I do agree with both Fallout and Dawn of War.
Another personal favorite is Diablo II. Always had a weak spot for Blizzard's movies. Star Craft and WarCraft III had great intro's as well. But for number one I agree with Veselle, Fallout 2. |
fallout2,final fantasy8 & 10,and arcanum are my favourites=)
|
Fallout is great, I really liked the opening to the original Jagged Alliance where your chasing the guy through the woods and then he turns and suprises you.
|
Not really the a favourite as such but I seem to watch the neverwinter intro whenever I start a new game. I think it just gets me in the mood for adventurin :D
|
My favorite intro would probably be Final Fantasy 8. The swordfight between Squall and Seifer was very cool. Shame the game didn't (quite) live up to the intro. Oh! Just remembered another great intro is from Devil May Cry 3! I love Lady's voiceover and the sword fight between Dante and Vergil is really well done. Lol, I quess I like sword fights or something... :D

Hah, agreed with Madman-Rogovich on NWN. It does exactly that. Classic D&D.
I remember that too Nightwing! I had forgotten how cool that was. Late edit: Oops...misidentified the name with the avatar for Madman. [ 05-16-2006, 01:15 AM: Message edited by: Lucern ] |
Pacman had the best intro ever.
Bloop-Bleep-Bloop-Bloop-Bleep-Bloop |
Arcanum's intro is very good indeed.
|
I have to add Sid Meier's Civilization (the original). The graphics are awful and the music sounds like an old cell phone but I still like it for some reason.
I also quite liked the evil plot-exposition dialogue of Deus Ex. |
Warcraft 2 for me, It was the first game i purchased, me and my brother saved up all our money together and went halves, and i still love that game.....
