well, i`ve been looking for the levitation spell in this game but haven`t found it yet, or it doesn`t seem to excist...

There's a forum dedicated to the Elder Scrolls series here. ;)

Using the compendium of every spell effect I haven't found it :(

Hopefully someone will mod it in.

SecretMaster 04-28-2006 11:18 PM

Levitation wasn't included with Oblivion. Too many issues arose with it.

hmm, irritating.. well one more thing is that how or why can`t we attack while riding???.

Hivetyrant 05-02-2006 08:06 AM

I believe a mod is close to completion that allows players to attack whilst on horseback, though I also hear that's something Bethesda wants to release as a mod....

shamrock_uk 05-02-2006 09:50 AM

Now that would really, really annoy me. I can cope with them charging for a house mod, but something involving game mechanics is definitely something that should be in the original product!

Stratos 05-02-2006 10:03 AM

True, I see a small risk with all this "charging money for extra material" that some game developers use. The idea is good but there's a risk that future games might be shipped "stripped" of everything but the bare necessities to run and enjoy the game.

Like cars; if you pay the lowest price you get an engine, four wheels and some metal around it. If you want some form of comfort you have to pay extra.

Also, if more developers decide to go this 'sell addons' route, they will be less likely to release moddable games. :(

(Because then anyone could make content)

bah..

Agrees. If the only reason horse combat wasn't included was so that they could charge extra for the mod then they can stick it up their asses. This is so far from acceptable that it's not funny.

As far as I knew, mounted combat wasn't added for a variety of reasons.

1. Balance issues
2. Mechanics
3. Animation

Animation is the key here. It was hard as hell for them to just perfect the actual riding animation itself. Now imagine trying to do the same with combat animations and all the possibilities allowed. Just like spears, for all the work required to get it right and acceptable by their standards the payoff really isn't worth it.

For me, something like mounted combat I wouldn't mind paying for. It was never in the actual gameplan itself, and to put all that work in for extra seems like a sensible idea. That is, if they are actually being truthful...
