I just bought this game. I am trying to download the patch (1.03) but it's so damn huge. A 24.8MB size. wow! that will take me a very long time.

So the question is, is the patch necessary? will I encounter a game stopping bug if I did not have the patch?

edit : test sig

The patch is not necessary.

Except for maybe one bug.

If at one point you have to chose one character to get the others out of trouble, don't chose the stealty character.

You mean like aboard the Leviathan, and you choose Mission to free the others ? Because i didn't have any bugs bothering me at all in that spaceship.

I think the patch mostly fixes balancing issues. So it's up to you whether you want it or not.

Just download it overnight or something.

This is a mad game, and you'll really enjoy it.

For the most part, Star Wars games in general kick ass.

My list of kick ass SW games (well, ones I own anyway):

X-Wing
Tie-Fighter + Defender of the Empire
X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter
X-Wing Alliance
SW: Rebellion
DF2: Jedi Knight
Jedi Knight 2
Jedi Academy
KOTOR

I want the new one too...I'm gonna convince my G/F to get it for me for christmas :D :D :D :D :D

I'm also gonna get KOTOR 2 when it comes out.

I want another sim though...it's time for another damn sim. There should be a whole expansion pack or even a whole new game (I dunno though, the grahpics in XW:A are honestly beautiful, despite its age, I haven't seen a prettier space sim, although Freespace was DAMN pretty). There are just so many damn ends to tie up.

I'd really like a WC3 style SW sim, where you have like dialogue options, and ways to interact with people. That game pwned.

Anyway, enough ranting from me.

The character in question will go in stealth mode, and if your pc has a low spot check, you won't be able to spot the character, and the game will hang there because since you can't see the character you can't get it's dialog.

In this case the dialog is the cutscene...

In that situation pick the Badass with the regeneration, (since he's a tank), or the cat woman (force). The stealthy one (mission) sucks IMHO, unless you sneak attack like crazy.

Bah, i had Mission clearing out that entire room full of Sith troopers at the end of the hallway, no problems.

Probably because i spent some points on her meleeskills earlier in the game. I knew what was coming, see ? :D

Kakero 11-23-2004 07:25 PM

ok, looks like there's no game stopping bug I see. I'll be playing this game then.

Don't worry about spoiling me. I'm one of the strange fella that prefer to know the result of a football match first before watching the match. ;)

Nerull 11-23-2004 09:22 PM

Actually, I've never had a problem with using stealth, as long as I got out of stealth right before using the terminals. Do that and you'll be fine.

Luvian 11-23-2004 11:16 PM

When your ship get captured by a tractor beam, you get to choose one character that will stay behind and free the others. To do that, mission enter stealth mode.

She's not in your party when that cutscene happen, so if your character has a spot check lower that mission's hide skill, it's going to be almost impossible to see her.

Since you can't see her, the game can't go on, because the engine won't allow interaction with invisible things, so it can't interact with mission in the cutscene (make her move or talk), so the game hang there indifinitely.

They fixed this problem in the patch, but just avoid chosing that character at that point and you'll be fine.

I thought this was clear even when I stayed vague...

Like i said, i didn't patch my game, and nothing like that ever happened to me. Mission doesn't turn stealth either, because they WANT Mission to get caught and put in sollitude, remember ?

How many cds does this game suppose to have? While installing it keep on asking for disk 0 with the data6.cab

Riftmaker 11-24-2004 12:07 PM

KOTOR is 4 cds.

Have you tried putting in all of the CDs?

Niadh 11-24-2004 05:20 PM

Did you use multiple drives for the CDs, as it borked up BG2 when I did it.

Kakero 11-25-2004 05:54 AM

How do I use multiple drives? I can only put 1 cd in the cdrom at one time.
