Just installed this game. What's so sacred about the game? I couldn't help but notice that the graphic is so similar to Lionheart. Will this game end up somewhat so disappointing as Lionheart?

Anyway, will the storyline change if I use different characters ?

If you are looking for a Diablo-like game then this is the one to get. If you are looking for an rpg then get something else.

IMO Dungeon Siege is a better Diablo type game than Sacred. I was disappointed, the sp game was ok, but replayability was low and multiplayer was very poorly implemented.

I played it for a while, but didn't get very far.

It looked like an ok hack and slash game.

The main problem with multiplayer was the immense number of bugs. If those get fixed and they get up good servers for the game then it could be a great multiplayer experience.

Not sure..

Kakero 09-27-2004 07:45 PM

Yes bugs, I notice my character won't hack the enemy even though I repeatedly click on the enemy.Even if he hack the enemy, his hacking is very slow compared to that of enemy. ie. 3 hacks = enemy's 10 hacks. Also my game have no sound nor music as well. I don't think this game is gonna last long.

I never encountered those problems while playing Kakero. In singleplayer there were not too many bugs overall. Did you download the newest patch. I heard that the first patch fixes a lot of stability issues. There is also a new patch out (as of a few weeks) but I haven't played since that one came out. And for me the game had sound and music.

I liked sacred a lot more than lionheart.

It does have a very anti climactic ending. And the amount of monsters you kill gets to be ridiculous.
overall worth playing though.

Kakero 09-28-2004 08:39 PM

Lots of monsters hmm? With the super slow attack rate of my characters I'll be death if there is more than 3 enemies attacking me at one time. Even in earlier part of the Gladiator game I nearly died when the Gladiator master and his cronnies gang up on me.

Anyway, I manage to fix the sound/music. It seems I'm unable to play the game with the patch. it keeps on saying missing DLL files. heh! so I'll have to play the game unpatched then.

I bought it at the same time as a few others - all of us to replace diablo for a multiplayer game. Got bored really quickly (less than a month) and also found it way too easy. It didn't do it for me at all and it could have been so good.

Gah! problems problems problems. This game is buggier than Lionheart. I decided to quit this game as it has too many problems. what a waste of money!

I found Sacred to be an enjoyable playing experience. True, the game is somewhat (although not for me) buggy. But the latest patch (1.77?)just came out in late September and I think most of the bugs have been taken out. The developers were pretty good at addressing the bug problems early on.

But Sacred had some pretty decent play mechanics that I feel really added to the action RPG genre. Like the map compass that points to your quest. I also liked how the journal worked in this game. And Sacred is the first game that I can recall that not only can you fight from horseback but you also have special spells that only work from horseback. I played the game early this year and now that the new patch is out I think I will give the game another spin.
