Hi, Regicide here. I've been playing CoD for, ooh, some five days now ;) and I like it.

Don't worry, Bozos, I've had the game for a little under 2 weeks now, but it's surprisingly easy to get the hang of... But don't get addicted to the sniper like I shamefully have, unless you want people saying "omfg n00b camper!!" [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I'll maybe use the little Brit light rifle, but nothing more. I'm a straight Thompson kinda guy. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Ah, the British gun thingy! Nice choice [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img] . Personally, I prefer to play as the Germans, then British, Americans, and lastly the Russians. I don't know what it is about the Russians, but I just don't like playing them. Maybe it's their map choices, maybe its their limited guns. However, their one redeeming quality is that ace gun which can fire over 70 bullets [img]smile.gif[/img] .

What's your favourite game-type? Mine is "Search and Destroy" but every now and again I join a huge "Team Death Match" which can be utter mayhem! [img]smile.gif[/img]

I like whatever is available. Russains snipers rule, as do the Germans(I really hate that british no-reload gun. or is that American?).

Hmm... I think the Lee-Enfield (British) and M1 Garrand (American) are unreloadable until you finish the clip [img]graemlins/1ponder.gif[/img]

I've only played against the computer so far, i think i've finished CoD at least a dozen times. Don't you just love shooting those Stuka's out of the sky ? :D

After MOHAA, spearhead, and Breakthrough, i thought WW2 shooters couldn't get any better anymore, well.... i was wrong. CoD is even better than MOHAA, especially the enemy's AI. The CoD add on is on it's way btw, i can hardly wait to get my hands on it.

Grr... Stukas. I'm having nightmares over that one. Johnny, how fast is your internet connetion, maybe the four of us can play?

I have cable, so it's fast enough i'd say. I don't have CoD installed right now, since i recently got a new mainboard and a new harddrive, but i'll install it in the coming week, because i expect to get the add on pretty soon, and you gotta have CoD installed to be able to play that one..

So yeah, maybe we can set something up one of these days. I've never multiplayed before, how does it work ? Do we shoot at eachother, or do we team up against a common foe ?

at the very beginning of the Russian section of the game. It captures war perfectly and really makes you think about how awful it is in reality [img]graemlins/verysad.gif[/img]

Check the manual - it describes all the modes of play. There are modes where its every man for himself, one team versus one team, or where there is a certain objective that one team must complete while the other tries to stop them.

I like to play as a sniper. I camp and wait for people to present themself to me and BAM! they die. Think I could do that in the multiplayer? I know in CS people hate those who camps.

In CS I kill those who camp, so I have no problems with them [img]smile.gif[/img] . People usually forget how precise the AK can be on long ranges. I think we've got what it takes to be a formidale force, the four of us. A pair of snipers, a roamer and johnny, the fire-breather with vodka [img]smile.gif[/img]

Don't get me wrong, though - I'm not a total camper. Give me a machine gun and I will gleefully storm an enemy building [img]smile.gif[/img] . I just find it easer to camp (who doesn't?).

What would you all think of creating a clan? I'm probably getting ahead of myself here, as none of us have ever played each other before, but it would be kinda cool. We'd have to join a couple of leagues ( www.esl-europe.net ?) to play other clans, and we might need a couple more members, but it is certainly doable. However, as I said, I'm probably rushing into this waaay too fast [img]smile.gif[/img] .

A thing I don't like about sniper rifles ( Springfield and Scoped Mosin-Nagant )in CoD is that the crosshair move and won't stay still. Totally unlike the ones in MoH. In CoD I had to wait for the crosshair to move to the target person before I fire a shot.

lol... you think the crosshairs move a lot in COD you should try firing a real scoped rifle accurately, COD is cake in comparison. I dislike gaming sniper rifles because they're far too easy to shoot... no range, wind, breathing, bullet variability or lots of other issues to deal with.

COD at least is a bit better than other games, but typically when we play mp-cod we turn off the sniper rifles... they create too much camping, and camping gets boring, and boring stinks.

Call of Duty my my! I have the game since the day it came out. And I use to go on multiplayer for months! I hate to brag but I am a very good sniper :D . And my name was Pvt.Sharpshot and love the German weapons. And I strongly dislike rifles with scopes. Don't use them because they greatly limit the perherical vision and I can shoot just as well(except at very very far distance) with a rifle without a scope. Camper? Not exactly I don't stay at the same spot for more than two minutes. I get paranoid that a guy is watching me [img]graemlins/hehe.gif[/img] . And when is the add on coming out?

I mean common, in real wars people do camp but I never ever seen or hear anyone who bunny hop. </font>[/QUOTE]No doubt about that, bunny hopping is very annoying, but there's none of that going on in COD... well... you can try but it's got anti-bunny hopping logic that works quite well. Typically non-camping COD games involve heavy duty firefights from cover and things like the machine gun emplacements become much more useful.

Some of the game variants do include defense, and with those ones we don't consider it camping to find a good spot and defend. Search and Destroy is a good example... the defending team definitely gets to 'camp' and try to protect their assets.

We found that without sniper rifles, gun choice becomes much more important. Depending on the game type, level, and team, the best gun choice varies widely. Sometimes it's a rifle, sometimes machine gun (I especially like the British LMG, very accurate at distance when prone).

If you want to survive a war in real life, you'd have to play the game non stop for about 5 years on veteran mode and not die a single time.... kinda hard ;)

What's bunny hopping? Rejoining a server to get rid of your score if you died a ton of times?

The Carbine's stats are blatantly average, but for some reason I find that it kicks ass [img]smile.gif[/img] .

Bunny hopping is something I used to see a lot in Doom, Quake, and HL games... guys would jump constantly when in a firefight... it made them harder to hit.

What does the add on do? what does it add to the game? Must I have it to play multiplayer?

Here's all the info you need from the add on, including a downloadable demo. There's three new campaigns, the American campaign involves the battle of the Bulge, the British involves the invasion of Sicily, and the Russian involves the battle at Kursk. There are also new multiplayer maps and other new features.

Is anyone getting "Finest Hour" for the consoles? It looks veeeery nice. However, I think I'll be satisfied with just "Allied Offensive" without forking out an extra wod of cash ;)

I've read that there is gonna be a 40% tank mission in FH. I don't think I'll like that. I hated the tank mission in CoD. Since this also use console. I wonder if the control will be as bad as Medal of Honor : Rising Sun.

I play this game online! Usually do the sniper thing, as i'm pretty good at finding a good vantadge point.

This game is good, but they should have some type of friends list and like i wish it was like warcraft or something like you can type in /time to get the time and a friends list. But i love this game to bad i dont own it my friend does though.

Hehe, I bought the Call of Duty : United Offensive yesterday. And I finished it 7 hours later. It was a great game. though quite short. btw, I've down 24 german planes in the first british bomber mission. anyone one top that?
