If Eidos or Activison goes down I swear I will........

Harkoliar 07-07-2004 03:27 AM

what happened to sierra games anyway?

Betelgeuse 07-07-2004 05:03 AM

this is from mobygames.com
Jun 30, 2004: We're very sad to report the end of an era: About a week ago, Vivendi-Universal cut 350 employees and completely closed down Sierra's Bellevue office. This marks the official end of Sierra, a company that was started on a kitchen table in 1978 and shipped millions upon millions of games that shaped major directions in the PC gaming industry. --Jim Leonard

Man... If they ever get Bethesda Softworks I will go nuts. I need another Morrowind in the oncoming years. At least Blizzard might be around for awhile...

Sythe 07-07-2004 09:55 PM

If Bioware goes down gamers everywhere will mourn.

Bahamut 07-08-2004 07:25 AM

EA and Bliz have been one of the most succesful. If those two go down we're in for a ride. Well, some other companies are going to blossom with this so we'll never know will we?

Don't jinx it! They're our only hope!

Firestormalpha 07-08-2004 09:50 AM

I hope EA doesn't go down, my bro may work there in the future. Already has his first contact in that company.

Betelgeuse 07-08-2004 10:10 AM

vivendi own blizzard as well as sierra, so if they shut one down - the publisher of half life and the ones behind the new larry game (dunno what's going to happen to that now) - don't assume bliz is safe too. damn money hungry corporations

SecretMaster 07-09-2004 01:04 AM

No, I think Blizzard is safe. They've been around for awhile, created three extremely popular gaming series (Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo) and now they are releasing a MMORPG. And Blizzard is known for its quality games. It will be around for awhile. You know they are serious when they have plans for an MMO. That takes a seriously large amount of money and planning.

Plus, they are franchising out in all directions. Books, board games, and so on. Those have been fairly successful too.

Bahamut 07-09-2004 11:18 AM

And yes, Blizzard is safe. Why? That is because they are the ones making money. Vivendi is well, doing not-so-great financially, and Bliz is only one of the companies which help them on that category. Now if ever Vivendi falls once and for all, a lot of companies are willing to save Blizzard. So no problem there ;)

They haven't closed all sierra stuff then, I just got a news letter of them in my mail.

Mr_Krift 07-10-2004 09:46 AM

Yea, i missed games like "The Realm" From seirra, that was what basicly brought me into the fun RPG gameing industry :(
