Been playing this for a couple of days now, what a great game! And only 20 bucks!Looks like its gonna take a long while to finish it too.Love to see a few more topics on it here...

Paladin2000 05-29-2004 01:56 PM

Old game. Had a few topics about 1-2 years back. Maybe you could do a search and resurrect some of them... provided if those old topics are still in the database of course.

I don't think that 2002 can really be defined yet as 'old'.

I've seen topics on the Misc forum here on it a few times and they got me intrigued enough to read up some more about it at Moby Games. Although it still sounds like a more clever evolution of diablo, I'd still be willing to give it a go if I saw it cheap.

Why would he ressurect them, if that is against the rules Paladin2000? Oh, and it really is a great game.

the mighty stamar 05-29-2004 10:16 PM

This is a very long game. I think it took 100 hours.

AFAIK, there is no rule against resurecting of old topics, sort of bump it up again. But then, most of the people who used to post in those topics might not remember the game at all. As for me, I only have a very vague memory of the game, despite replaying it twice.

Yes, it is a fun game that truly does take a lot of time to play. The graphics aren't cutting edge by far, but I did like a number of the creative ideas incorporated throughout. Go to the Larian forums to get any feedback or hints needed. There are a few things/actions that can permanently disrupt a story line. I don't want to give anything away; just do a search over at Larian. Have fun!

Divine Divinity 2 was released recently by the way.

Paladin2000 05-31-2004 06:59 AM

Yeah, I am looking forward to get Beyond Divinity.

For those who have not played Divine Dinity, go and get Beyond Divinity because the developer packaged in the first series as a bonus. ;)

Not quite... Beyond Divinity isn't Divine Divinity 2, just a game set in the same universe Divine Divinity, and using the same engine

TheCrimsomBlade 05-31-2004 10:03 PM

I played Divine Divinity all the way through in about 130 hours.
Now I Bought Beyond Divinity and got a free version of the first game in the box. Anyway Beyond Divinity Doesn't use the same engine It uses a modified verison of the old engine that alows 3D rendering and the Zoom in and out factor and A numeber of other improvements.
Now I broke out my old Diablo game and played for about 45 min. It's nothing like Beyond Divinity. Beyoud Divinity has alot more RPG Play style game play than Diablo ever thought to have. The graphics Are similar but that's where it ends. Beyond Divinity is a different and better game than both Divine Divinity and Diablo and I recommend it to everyone. Actually I think That Beyond Divinity it more like the other new RPG called Sacred But without the horses. I have both and they are both going to win awards this year as top end RPG Games and worth playing and replaying.

Luvian 05-31-2004 10:21 PM

I didn't really like either. To me the character in Divine Divinity moved insanly slowly. At first I thought it was because my computer was under the minimum req. But I got a p4 3GHZ and they still move as slowly.

I had fun with Sacred for maybe an hour or two, but it got old pretty fast.

I want a dialog heavy rpg please. :(

Megabot 06-08-2004 04:50 PM

I think the Orginal Divine Divinity is 10 times better then the boring Beyond Divinity...

TyranyuZ 06-12-2004 08:45 AM

Agreed, beyond divinity still has good enough single player, but I hardly find it fun to have a dark knight with me all the time, I like to go solo through the games like that.

MagiK 06-12-2004 11:48 PM

I don't find Beyond Divinty to be as good a game as Divine Divinity. Im only through Act 1 but, it just seems like the story is less compelling and they changed some things from DD that I kinda liked...still I am having a better time with it than I am with Sacred.

Cloudbringer 06-15-2004 09:42 AM

Am still playing Divine Divinity which I'm liking alot. I do find the open ended quests a little tiresome sometimes because I tend to play for several days then leave it for a few weeks and come back, so I forget what I need to do next on some things! :D But I like it overall and just ordered Beyond Divinity.

What exactly did you all like/dislike about these games? I got my DD when it came out and didn't have a fast enough machine to run it, so I had to wait a year to load it and play. Now I'm finding I like it but I was dubious because so many people didn't care for it. Glad I listened to a friend who loved it and gave it a shot! You just never know, what some folks like you might not and vice versa!

How many different games do you play cloud?

the mighty stamar 06-15-2004 10:50 PM

Divine divinity is in my top 5 of crpgs I ever played.

It has a weak end game though definitely. But theres just a lot of interesting stuff that happens.

TheCrimsomBlade 06-15-2004 11:16 PM

I like both the Divinities and Sacred.
First because they are not high speed games. You can take your time and not rush every second. There is alot of area and big dungeons to explore.
I like a variety of different type games that's why I buy one or two every month. My favorites are Neverwinter Nights and Morrowind followed by Call of duty and Halo. I play all but Morrowind on line. I also have more than 200 other PC games, some I haven't even opened yet!

Cloudbringer 06-16-2004 10:27 AM

TyranyuZ, In addition to Divine Divinity, I have a solo NWN HoU and IWD2 going, as well as a multiplay Throne of Bhaal and IWD2(with my husband). I played SoU through but have two more games going with different characters.

I've got a multiplay IWD on hold at the moment but hope to finish that one day as well.

TyranyuZ 06-16-2004 07:07 PM

Hehehe well it's cool that you and your husband play together , is he also registered on this forum?

Yes, it's nice to have something he and I can play together! I don't like the first person shooters much and he plays alot of those. Oh and yes, he's here as Nachtrafe. He doesn't get alot of online time right now so he isn't posting much.
