I am creating a Paladin (Cavalier) and I have 6 proficiency points to spend.
I intend to put 2 against 2 handed sword and 2 against 2 handed weapon style. I am not sure whre to put the remaining 2 i.e., short sword, mace, sword and shield style.............. Any advice (No spoilers please). |
If I were you, I would have putted one proficiency in some blunting-weapon, like Warhammer, and one on Single Weapon Style.
That way, you can be good with a blunt-weapon, and be used to only use one weapon at the time. see ya! |
Thanks, I was thinking that a crashing type weapon would help me against undead and golems etc.

Are you planning to solo?
If not, I would put 3 stars in two handed sword, 2 in two handed weapon, and 1 in mace or flail. The extra star in 2 handed will get you where you want to be (5stars) a little faster, and ensures you will make use out of that star. Every player has their own tastes, but in my experience paladins generally use 2 handed swords almost exlusively, as there are several powerful ones available. A Paladin can only put 2 points on each weapon or style. IMO, that really sucks... see ya! [ 03-10-2002: Message edited by: Sir Exxon ]
|

For Paladins, Rangers, Barbarians and multiclassed Fighters, 2 is the max. This is because those classes have other bonuses, like spellcasting etc., which a Fighter doesn't have. |
yeah, if paladins would get 5 slots, that would be unfair. don`t worry, the first two slots affect your skills most, you get much less bonuses with the other 3 extra slots, plus you can spend them on other good weapons. david_m11,i think the best idea is to place your extra 2 slots on war hammer. and since you don`t want me to spoil you, just play on, till you get a really good war hammer

Don't forget that dual classed fighters can also advance to grandmastery |
Sorry about my three star mistake, I have way to many saved games going on. Everything is starting to blur together....

You might also want to consider one star in a blunt weapon and one star in long bow. That way you can do some distance damage if you need to.

Thats right, we Cavaliers don't hang around at the back, we have to get up close and personal! |

Mace is blunt , so it works on clay golems ( and there's a mace of disruption that is good for killing vampires. Kills 2 birds with one stone. (not a spoiler...didn't tell him where to find anything !) |
