I was just wondering if this is a bug: I played with a simultanous mode and all of my opponents have finished their movements (marked by the light flashing beneath their color on the bottom right of the screen), but when I moved my unit towards the cave's entrance, suddenly came rushing a group of beetles of my enemy asking me to fight them. I am totally confused because they should've not a chance to move because their turn has ended. Any ideas?

I have no idea as to the answer to your question but im just wondering is teh game any good? I read the review and it looked really good but what is it actually like?

BaRoN NiGhT 10-05-2003 12:31 PM

I am quite sure that it is a great game.

RoSs_bg2_rox 10-05-2003 12:34 PM

cool.have u played the first one? Is it worth getting before the second?

Dreamer128 10-05-2003 12:48 PM

I actually liked the first one better then the second, where the storyline seems to be lacking a bit.

Yeah! I've played the first one, though like Dreamer128 sez, the story line is much better in the first one, but its sequel has a lot of enhances. If you like AOW1, you should also like AOW2 ;) .

RoSs_bg2_rox 10-05-2003 01:05 PM

are they actually plot related (the first and second?)

Yeah, but there is also a skirmish in case you are tired of the playing the plot.

RoSs_bg2_rox 10-05-2003 01:14 PM

is the skirmish good?

BaRoN NiGhT 10-05-2003 01:21 PM

I bet it is .

Goodbye all! I'm sooo sleepy! Nighty Night ( at least in my place ) !!!

RoSs_bg2_rox 10-05-2003 01:23 PM

Seeing as it takes place on the other side of the ocean. In AOW II, you play a Human Wizard who is evacuating his people from the original conflict zone, then gets drawn into a new war.

RoSs_bg2_rox 10-05-2003 04:07 PM

so u wouldnt have to play the first to play the second?

well obviously u dont have to but is it better to?

I really haven't played the second one all that much, but I don't think so. The only time the first part is brought up (for a brief moment) is in the intro movie. Well, as far as I know anyway :)Its definately not like playing BGII before having tried the first game.

You can set your peices on guard.

In real human games ( which Ive never finished and I dont think they ever do finish) you would have to do that otherwise no one would want to finish their turns.

Not a bug actually an innovative feature.

The biggest improvement over aow 2 is that it can make random maps for you, a la civilization. So it has endless replay value.

You won't have to pay much for AoW1 nowadays, and it's great. The campaign is, IMO, much better than the one in AoW2... either way, if you're getting AoW2, make sure you get Shadow Magic (stand-alone expansion), and not ordinary AoW2... AoW:SM gotses random map generator, new races, toolset for modding'n such (haven't gotten it yet meself yet (have preordered it), dunno 'bout the campaign... seems better than the one in AoW2).

Kakero 10-06-2003 08:53 AM

it's out already? when? any different from the first one?

RoSs_bg2_rox 10-06-2003 01:07 PM

I dont know if its any good because as you can probably tell from my posts i havent played it yet. But i can tell you that it is out and has been for sometime. At least a couple of months i think!

Which one? AOW2 or AOW:SM? Both were already released:

 • AOW2 was released on June 10 2002
 • AOW:SM was released on July 25 2003

Btw, whats the answer to my problem? Is it a bug or not?

Gnarf 10-07-2003 03:02 PM

Might very well not be a bug... haven't played simultanous mode since AoW1, but there, when your turn had ended, one could click the end-turn button again to be able to move units again, would make sense that the computer would do so when some enemy arrives within range.

BaRoN NiGhT 10-09-2003 12:59 AM

Ow! I've never think of that. It is possible. Thx for the answer Gnarf .

Gnarf 10-09-2003 06:13 AM

Ya be welcome, I probably got it all wrong anyway y'know ;)
Got Shadow Magic yesterday (as I had pre-ordered it, and it was released many weeks ago, I was beginning to wonder wether or not I'd ever get it :/ )

BaRoN NiGhT 10-09-2003 11:40 AM

Congratulations! I'm gonna get it to someday ;) .<?font>
