I could name at least 20 tracks from Guilty Gear X2 I absolutely love, let alone the special edition of the game, GGXX#Reload (<- I have links to every song from the OST, should anyone want it.) I also love Dr. Wily's Theme #1 from Megaman 2. As for a general company that time-after-time produces high-quality soundtracks, you can't go wrong with Black Isle or Squaresoft.
What about you all? |
My favourite video game songs would be the entire StarCraft soundtrack. Blizzard has the bes music.
|
hmm. I think BG has far the best music beside Blizzard
|
Hey! You mess with StarCraft, you mess with the me. Mess with the best, die like the rest!
On topic: I just beat Arcanum an hour ago, and I love it's music. If I had to make a toplist it would probably go like this: StarCraft Arcanum Icewind Dale 2 Duke Nukem(all) Unreal Tournament(I call it the unreal tornment, but i really love it) FAKK 2 Conquest(the space strategy) Freespace 2 Metal Gear Solid 2 Dungeon Keeper 2 |
A few FFVII (Yeah Beoulve, we know already :D ) battle songs,
The theme from streets of rage II, Wipeout I, Secret of Mana (bought the OST for this one), Street fighter II (ryu stage theme mainly) cant think of any other. Oh yeah: The Turrican Theme (this one is just plain psycho, I like :D ) |
Don't forget Planescape Torment. That game has some awesome music. I used to like the Throne of Bhaal main theme.. but I've heard it a bit too much. ;) Another one I like is the Deus Ex theme. Quite nice

Deus Ex! That's the one I missed!

Might and Magic 6 and 7. kudos to NWC. down with 3do. wait, they are already down. :D Icewind Dale 2. suprise suprise. Some of the music is really good. until now I still play the game. FF7 One wing Angel Theme. yeah yeah, it's Sephiroth. :D hmmm...I think I'll only put games that come out overthere. :D |
Divine Divinity--Verdistis track
|
Cannon Fodder - Wars never been so much fun
|
A close call between the title and the cave theme from Shadow of the Beast.
The main theme from Shadow of the Beast 2 is also one of my favourites. |
Most of the FF soundtracks
The opening theme from FFIX is probably one of my favourites. |
Nearly everything from Chrono Trigger. Rainbow Six's main theme. Hardwar. Star Control 2.
Edit: Can't believe I forgot Fallout 2's opening song by Louis Armstrong. [ 09-07-2003, 08:28 AM: Message edited by: Spade ] |
Note: Many of the (excellent) tracks from Divine Divinity can be downloaded for free at the official website at http://www.larian.com/Site/english/divinity/music.html .

Anyone heard the Final Fantasy VIII ending song? Eyes on me. Nice song.
2nd is probably Metal Gear Solid 1 : The Best is Yet to Come |
I should just straight up post the link to the GGXX#Reload OST so you guys can sample the awesomeness that is the game's music.
But I'd still rather wait until I'm asked. It's a weird mental block, I know. |
End theme of Metal Gear Solid definately, great theme to end a GREAT game.
|
my fav is melody of love from ff9

On the Sega Megadrive I loved the song that plays when you first get Rune (the awesome mage ;) ) on Phantasy Star IV.
I can remember the tune after... 6+ years not playing the game? |

The original Diablo had some goooooood music... so good in fact I can't remember what it sounded like because I turned it OFF when I played... mainly because the atmosphere of the game was creepy enough, and with the music to make it even worse, well... *shivers*
Yeah, that was some good music... that I don't remember. :D |

Such beautiful songs |
The greatest video game song is the theme song from "Darkstone" it surpasses all songs in all games ever made. People used to buy the game just so they could go to the town centre and toss a few coins in the Bards hat just to listen to the song.

Comand and Conquer Red Alert- HellMarch
|
My favourite video game songs are the theme song from FFIX and the "Eyes on Me" of FFVIII.
|
Most of the radio stations in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
One of the levels in Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix was a level where you were flying gunner for a chopper. Over the radio you here someone say "Lets get some theme music going" (or something like that). Next thing you know you can hear some classical music that really fit the moment, if anyone can tell me it's name I would really appreciate it. |
I forgot to mention:
Video game music EXCLUDES music that was not made for the purpose for the game. In other words, nothing that the game companies would have had to buy rights to use in their game, as in all the 80's music in Vice City. |

I loved the pleasure planet music in privateer, morrowind music, music in monkey island 2, the magic carpet music in Ultima 7... and the elevator music in system shock :D
|
Anyone remember the theme from Flimbos Quest on the C64. That was way cool. I am humming it now and it has been at least 15 years since I heard that. Also, theme from Narc.I especially like it seeing as frank black did a cover of it with the pixies a while ago. Anyone else no anymore bands who did covers of games themes?
|
best, game music ay, for nostalgic reasons and utter coolness i would have to say the music from the megadrives Sonic games and StreetFighter II, also FF8 had grrreat music, very dramatic, also Golden Sun+Lost Age both have excellent soundtracks, the quality is suuupyyerb.
Thats all i can really remember, oh and Ocarina of Time, songs like "Bolero of Fire" and "Serenade of Water" really added to the game |
Vamo' Alla Flamenco and Protecting My Devotion from ffIX, Ami from ffVIII
and the Main Theme from ffVII (when ur on the world map)...they're my favourites |

www.C64audio.com is a great place to start a nostalgia trip of a lifetime! :D Reyn Ouwehand did the original Flimbo's quest which is quite cool, so breadbin (great name!) I'd reccomend you take a look at remix.kwed.org if you're after a remix of it! I won't blather any more, only to say long live the C64 and the sounds of SID! :D |
