I must be really behind the times, I was just over at Gamespot where I discovered that Squaresoft have planned to remake FF7 through to 9 on the Playstation 2. Now I've heard nothing about this and I can't find much info about it on the net can anyone shed any light on this? I really hope they do, the possibilities are endless, the Aeris ressurection anyone?

i loved 7, eight sucked royally, but i never played 9 heard it was fairly good. i wish they throw in tactics

Tactics would be a nice remake. i don't know about any one else, but all the grammatical mistakes in the dialog really, really annoyed me. It was an awesome game, but that really detracted from it for me... I really don't see much of a point in remaking any of those games unless they were going to change the game in some way. A graphical make-over will not get me interested enough to buy them for the PS2. And I was pretty pleased with 9 as it is.

Im not interested in anything to do with FInal Fantasy unless its coming out on PC and done properly, IE menus that are not full of acronyms and such.

Uh, acronyms? Haven't spotted a single one of those in FF7 so far [img]tongue.gif[/img]

And I truly hope that they do NOT do an Aeris resurrection. Let the stupid woman STAY dead.

I rather hope that they make Vincent and Yuffie bigger parts of the game. At least including them in the FMV's.

On FF7 - I liked Aeris, although I agree that more Vincent and Yuffie would be good.

Acronyms shouldn't be much of a problem, since most of them are fairly common, at least in fantasy/role playing gaming. Some are Final Fantasy centric, but that's what the instruction manual is for, right?... But I agree that the menus need to be redone when the game comes out for the PC. I don't want a direct console port, I want it to take advantage of the advantages PCs have over consoles. Honestly, I think that most companies are too lazy to do something like that, preferring the console crowd to the PC crowd. They are really missing out on a big market, in my opinion.

Personally I rather like the console menu's :D They're really not that different from PC menu's. Perhaps mouse support could be added, but beyond that I can't really think of anything that I want changed [img]smile.gif[/img]

I can live with the acronyms and abreiviations. The problem is that there symptomtomatic of something else. 640*480 resolution!

i heard about this a while before FFX. they delayed making the PS2 versions so they could get FFX & FFXI finished. it could be a while before there released. also i don't think there will be much(if any) extra content, like extra vincent and yuffie stuff. mainly it'll be things like tweaked graphics and on FF7 they'll make it so you don't have to hold x to run (wahoo!). having spent 450+ hours on FF7 Alone i'll probably buy the updates. Edit: i forgot to add, THE AERIS RESURECTION WILL <font size=6>NEVER</font> HAPPEN!
this is for two reasons. 1. they don't want to resurect her and 2. it completely goes against the plot.

To be honest Id be more interested in a remake of FF1 through 6. There are 3 games I can never play without learning Japanese, and even the other 3 need emulators. I woudnt want them updated technicaly (although FF6 level graphics would be nice), just translated and ported to PC.

@Bruce, Aeris was originaly resurectable (that whole key to midgard thing was part of it), but was changed before. The net was full of guides to the aeris resurrection till people got the idea that it wasnt possible. But to put it in now would mean adding dialogue and everything for her, so I dont think it will happen.

The first three can are also be played in english, some chap was kind enough to translate them all, but still you would require an emulator to play them.

As for remakes to the earlier games 1 - 3 have already been remade on the wonderswan colour and they look quite nice.(unfortuantly the wonderswan colour is unavailiable over here in england, and even if i ordered one the games would be in japanese :( ), here are a few screen shots of ff1 remake:

there has been a rumour going round that these remakes are planned for release on the gameboy advance, I sure hope so.

I loved 7 hated 8 wanted to beak it once i got it the day it came out and i never played 9.

I loved FF7 and FF8 but I hated FF9.
In the FF7 remake they should at least have Vincent and Yuffie in the FMV's.
And Aeris should stay DEAD. It's an important part in the plot of the game. They should not change the story to meet popular demand. [img]graemlins/idontagreeatall.gif[/img]

Multiple endings would be nice as well. (I can dream) :D
