many people say the the multiclass Warrior/Mage/Thief isnt good...but it is! for soloing that is...i have one of those and he kicks BIGTIME!he killed kangaxx without ANY trouble at all when lvl 10/11/12 or something and it was EASY...took less than two minutes...so all you out there who havent soloed yet and are going to...USE THE WARRIOR/MAGE/THIEF COMBO!!! it totally rocks...reasons for and against W/M/T multiclass welcome as i need a discussion right now...
As a solo character they can be very useful as they have all the major class' you want for soloing.... though the problem is they cant get to very high levels in any of the areas... and even with ToB installed they dont get particulary high... so thats why i dont really like F/T/M multi-class.... go the F/M's!!!
Perhaps good, but only if you have you exp-cap removed.
i removed the xp cap in one install on the hard drive (i have a 180 gb hard drive) and have it on in another and without the xp cap my char can lvl 40/40/40 so heŽll be extremely powerful then...and by the way...where is the robe of vecna????
Well the Robe of Vecna is bought from Deidre in the back of the Adventure Mart... You must have ToB or the Extra Merchants pack to have her there though.
aww that sucks...whats the best robe for W/M/T then??? should be a robe so i can cast spells/hide in shadows
Well im not sure really.... just download the Xtra Merchants pack and you'll b on ur way.
k...thanks....

F/M/T is a waste of xp
The Mage can duplicate the major abilities of the theif (invisability for stealth , knock spell for pick locks). The only missing ability is the find traps , and clerics have that ability. And guess what ? Clerics arn't that bad in a fight and have spells too. Cleric/Mages are the most versitile charactars, and only being 2 classes instead of three they go up a lot faster in levels than any 3 class combo. Duel Class Theif Then Mage is probably tops though. The Theif class can fight, even duel weild if you let it go to level 10 or 12 before switching. Since you're playing solo you can rack him up in levels half way through the game, then switch to mage and restart the game keeping him, and when the mage passes him (level 12 is good) you get both abilities. A bow wielding mage with tons of summoned monsters rocks. For solo play. |
maybe the mage/cleric can duplicate SOME of the abilities of the thief but not all of them...im thinking particularly of the disarming of traps and pickpocketing...and as im talking about soloing you need that trap disarming BAD as there are quite a few nasty traps (imprisonment and maze kills you for good when soloing as you probably know) and the fact that clerics arent bad in a fight is true however a say lvl 15 cleric cant compete in physical combat with a lvl 15 warrior...
You forgot one point. Thieves disarm traps because they want to avoid damage. Mage/Clerics however, can blatantly waltz across scores of traps and ignore the damage because of their protection spells.
That said, it all comes down to personal preferences. |
of course the mage can send summoned monsters through the traps.
Without removing the cap, F/M/T is a big waste of XP.
I'm playing a dualled kensai/mage solo, now level 12/20 and haven't missed the thief skills at all. So what about trap damage when you've got 180HP? Pickpocket? What for? Only one item I can think of, that you get a second of in Spellhold anyway...Or beat Kangaxx for a better version... Set traps? Why bother when you can dual wield katanas/long swords for huge damage, not to mention spells? Pick locks? Bash 'em or 'Knock' 'em..... |
The W/M/T are ok but in my experience, i found that Monks are way better than anything out there! They do multidamage with their kickboxing!
The only problems with the F/M/T are that he gains levels slowly (unless you're soloing), and he won't get any Level 9 spells (unless you remove the cap). Apart from that, he's a GOD. Use either the Robe of Vecna or a good Elven Chain--I don't have the Bladesinger+4 yet, but he is wearing the Melodic+3, thanks to his Use Any Item, which he got at Fighter Level 11 (I think). And once he learns the Assassination ability, he'll be able to Backstab Quintuple Damage--during a Set Time Trap--under Improved Haste--with Carsomyr. Let's see a Monk or Fighter/Mage do THAT.
For just 2 classes, I'd prefer Mage/Thief to Fighter/Mage. You don't care about being able to wear heavy armor, but when you do Stoneskin/Mirror Image/Mislead, it's fun to be whacking away at the bad guy (while the bad guy whacks your illusionary avatar) and get Backstab damage while you do it.
