Its still in very early development, but good news nonetheless.
What would you like to see from ES IV? |
Really? That`s great. What I would like to see is a more stabile game. Not so many CTD`s.
|
Of course there gonna make another ES. Since Arena fans have been hooked and craving for more. I say they'll at least have 5-6 more epic RPG's like Morrowind, Daggerfall, and Arena.
Hmm, but I'd like to go back to the Daggerfall scene. The whole Numidium thing was amazing with the whole seperate endings with either the destruction of the empire or the savior. Something big with the Emperor. It's been mentioned practically every game that the empire is falling into dissaray. Maybe your character is the next Uriel Septim and creates a new empire. |
I heard about in UESP, the title of the game is Oblivion, and it probably has to do with magic (as per the instructions of the escort mage guild quest to Pelegriad)
|
yeah, I've heard you'll be visiting different plane of existance. it's sound cool. but I shudder to think what the game requirement will be. imagine the system requirement for daggerfall to morrowind. it's quite a HUGE jump.
|
I've heard the rumor of oblivion also. Quite frankly, it will be interesting if the whole game is played out in the Daedra realms. They'd probably have all new races then...
But this wouldn't be the first ES game to visit other worlds. Battlespire and Daggerfall both had visits to other dimensions. But think of big this will be if the allow multi dimensional travel |
I'm hoping for a repeat yet improved TESCS. I've spent more time there than the game or so it seems now. Just love making those houses and editing other people's plug-ins that I've downloaded.
|
I want less music-related crashes. i cant play morrowind anymore because of them.
Frankly i dont care about the system requirements, as long as it's a good game Lastly, i agree on the separate ending thing, and the empire thing. i think being the ruler of a kingdom would be cool. but i wouldnt travel as much ;-; [ 08-08-2004, 03:09 AM: Message edited by: DalekBoy ] |
I want them to streamline the hoss of a game...I mean, seriously, I can stand a little bit of glitching every now and again, but if the game was only the size of ESIII GOTY ("ONLY" being used half-heartedly), but didn't have so many crashes and glitches, and had a tighter battle system (as in, decide whether hits are determined by stats or aim, not the current mix of both) then I would be happy with it...
PROGRAMMERS, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE JUST KEEP IT FROM CRASHING SO OFTEN!!! |

I also think that they should definitely return to the Daggerfall realm. If you think about it, Daggerfall really was the greatest of the games, just because it was so damn big and there was so much stuff to do. I always wished that they had redone Daggerfall instead of making Morrowind. Imagine Daggerfall, but all the old bugs were gone, all the graphics were amazing, the plotline was even more in-depth, and you you had that huge world to tromp around in! Not to mention the thousands of new side quests and ways to play your character. I suppose it will always be a lost dream though.
Can't wait for the next ES game, though. |
More attention to atmosphere. While I really enjoyed Morrowind, I think they created a bigger world than they could manage to fill with rich content. I wouldn't mind the next one being geographically smaller if they succeeded in creating a living and breathing world where people had at least some semblence of personality and did more than stand around like scarecrows, and you couldn't walk around in the wilderness for days without hearing as much as a bird singing.
(Hint, look at the intense atmosphere that the Baldur's Gate series created with nothing but background sounds) Oh, and either get rid of voice acting or significantly improve it. [ 08-22-2004, 08:15 AM: Message edited by: Rataxes ] |
I was actually hoping that they will have a better 3rd person view support. As in playable in 3rd person view, ala Gothic 1 & 2. This first person view thingy is really ...um... making me sick. I have to stop playing every 2 hours or I will have a serious case of motion sickness.
Anyway, considering that the series has always been developed for first person experience, I doubt that they would switch to 3rd person gameplay. |

I know, I know...but I really haven't had a stisfatory experience with Morrowind YET, mostly because I STILL haven't gotten a PC that could run it satisfactorily...so, just to take the thread off topic for a few posts, how long am I going to have to wait before a FACTORY ISSUE PC is capable of running this thing... IMO, Morrowind is not a $30 dollar game...it's a $220 dollar game, meaning if you don't have $190 in a graphics card, you can just suffer... |
If they could find a way to keep the NPCs from blocking the damn doorways, I'd be happy )
It might seem small, but a better organized inventory might be nice, for objects that you get in great abundance, like keys, potions, etc. And that pause when the music changes...I know that mw_fps app takes care of it, but if they could change the music without that pause, that would be nice |
They really could liven up the countryside, with more robbers, vampires (night, of course. it would make you think twice about travelling alone), and just plain old travellers, making thier way, not just monsters and random side quests.

The other problem with Daggerfall, you visited two provinces. High Rock (which daggerfall was located) and Hammerfall. And practically everything in Daggerfall was randomly generated. There are supposedly 40-50 real building segments, and the rest are compiled through randomization. And guild quests just cycled through, with lots of repition. |

The two above points are why I stoped playing this game.
I went in search of some mushrooms and ended up walking for days. When I finally found my way back to civilisation, I was around the first town. Did I mention I also got lost when I went from the first to second town? I didn't really enjoy walking around empty areas with the occasional random cave. |

And I'd assume you were lost in the Bitter Coast, because that is the most desolate region out there. But certain areas are designed to be harsh and unihabited, while others aren't. |

Edit: Exploring the wilderness when there is something to see and find is fun, but just walking around in empty forests and mountains with no way to know how to get out is not. I liked exploring around in Baldur's Gate 1. The main map showed me where I was in the world, and I was sure every area would have something to see. I liked Might and Magic for the same reason. I wasn't just walking around with no sense of direction in a computer generated filer landscape. I found Morrowind to be just too big and empty. I would have probably liked it way better if it was half as big, and if there was both a minimap and a worldmap that showed me my exact position. [ 08-29-2004, 10:19 PM: Message edited by: Luvian ] |

But it adds a sense of realism to the game, afterall not every part of the woods has places. However, I can see where you are going with this and I also agree that they should maybe have some of the wilderness with some sort of hidden temple/ruin or something. |
Ruins would be good, but i liked trekking through a desolate swamp. it was fun, trying to guess how far i was from anywhere. i went there because i wanted to, and mangaed to get to Gnaar Mok.
|
The Morrowind world needed to have more... Stuff in it. Definitely. In the wilderness, more passive animals, more sounds, more trees, more underbrush... Definitely more bandit camps and ruins and dungeons. Also, one big problem I have (even though it's pretty menial) is that when it rains, you can't go anywhere for cover. I mean, not that the rain is bad, but if you go under a rock or tree or roof, the rain is still falling. It is annoying.

Many games have broke with the norm or done the 'impossible' and were released and received without a hitch. |
I never found glitching too bad a problem, but, im a freak, so dont listen to me. however, i do agree with Dadams1 about the wierd rain thing. maybe some simple rain sound and lighting effects to replace the rain flying through the roof in a now-ruined masterpiece of a climatic battle, a-la every old-styled melodrama in the known universe.
|
One more small thing I'd like to see fixed...aiming, specifically when firing at an angle downward. It never felt very accurate.
|
really? I guess that explains not being able to hit the mudcrab thing. i agree then

The map that originally comes with the game is good enough to show me where I am and where I'm heading ( you can switch between local and world map ). It takes some time to get used to it. |
I never found any trouble, you just need to know where your facing.

I can't believe no one offered this up:
MULTIPLAYER. Maybe it's not possible with the engine or something? (I don't know squat about programming and what not :/ ) When I first saw my LAN buddies getting addicted to ESIII:Morrowind, and played it myself for the first time... the lack of multiplayer almost made me cry. I realised this game would be unbelievable on LAN. The experience would be unmatched. Our characters, a Battlemage, a Barbarian, a Ranger, and my Templar Knight (the Ranger and Templar Knight custom classes, of course) roaming the land, looting bandits and exploring ruins. The Battlemage and Barbarian doing some bad stuff unbeknownst to the rest of the group; the Ranger helping every NPC lost in the wilderness; and the Templar Knight tolerating the others for the greater good. Going our seperate ways from time to time to tend to the needs of our different guilds (sometimes crossing paths at odds with each other... would our loyalty to our friends, or our loyalty to our guild be more important... haha who needs friends when I have a Lord's Mail waiting for mefriendship...). Meeting up to tackle the hard missions/ruins/etc, brag about our newfound gear, and whatnot else. I wouldn't care if it was like BGII where only 1 player was the main character, or if all of us were part of the story, or what. I could go on and on about how great this would be multiplayer, but it's 6 a.m. ... Maybe no one mentioned it cause there is a multiplayer mod or something? (please tell me there is! ...if there is, of course...). I heard there was a multiplayer mod in the works for the last few months, but this was from an EXTREMELY unreliable source. No one else feels the same? p.s. check out my post about getting rid of the glowy effect on enchanted items please... [ 09-09-2004, 05:56 AM: Message edited by: cav_again ] |
The are few issues about having multiplayer function in this game.
1. The graphic is too intensive, some places has fps shot up to the roof, ashstorm also one of the cause of major fps problem. If you get it into multiplayer the lag may be unbearable. 2. In single player the game is very unstable, CTD happens too often. Imagine how frustrate you are when suddenly your friend booted out of the multiplayer game because of CTD and you have to wait for him to log on. 3. The quests is the game is design to cater the need for one player only. what if one player done the quest and you cannot do it anymore? 4. What happen if some jerk go kill an improtant npc and it trigger the doom message? will it affect your game too? 5. How do you control what item the players have? I might as well create super duper godly item and use console command to add it to myself. I can also use the console command to make all my attribute, hp and mana sky rocket. With this I can PK every other player in the game. Who can stop me? The was one multiplayer mod released but it was full of bugs and it was taken off as soon as it was uploaded. LOL. |
RPG's have to be designed for multiplayer, single-player, or a mix. The TES games are single-player oriented, and if you tried to make it multi-player, it would destroy the universe in a massive death thing.
