Hmmm, I have traveled to Ald'ruhn and all of a sudden the people in the town HATE me. I mean I starting out with 1 popularity. For example, I talked to the bar tender in the inn and got my popularity into the 90's. I returned to rent a room and all of a sudden it was 1. Why is this? I am perplexed...

Using Telvanni Bug Musk?

Wow, that's weird... I'm assuming you didn't go on any killing sprees or anything.

Sometimes it helps to look in your journal-- occasionally things happen that I don't even notice, need to check the journal to figure out whats going on.

Ya might want to look at your rankings with various factions, etc. in case you've been kicked out to the temple or something.

emmm..you've join other great houses and your personality plus speecraft is very very low?

How are you getting thier disposition up in the first place? Some methods are temporary and others can have a negative effect when they wear off.

I have actually made my speechcraft one of my key abilities. I am at level 17 overall, with a personality in the mid 70's. My speechcraft is probably about 90... All I do is talk and admire...with the occasional intimidate thrown in....I am a Hlaatu (or whatever) house member...

This happened to me in Balmora...

When I was a newbie I was lazy and set my Personalit to 2000 so I can persuade ppl quickly...

now it is back to a sane value of 55 and no one in Balmora will speak to me!!!!

One final thought. Are you diseased?

You are house hlaalu, maybe that's the reason.

I suspect that your use of intimidate is the problem. AFAIK intimidate generates a temporary boost, but it wears off after a while and the NPC ends up thinking less of you then when you started.

When we are speaking this matter, I'd like to stress one related bug in the logic of the game:
If you are using a PER boosting item or a spell, your score at other people will go up - but it cannot cross 100. The bug consists in the fact, that the score is set to 100 without taking into account that your PER will go down later. When your PER will go down, you will lose score proportionally to the lost boost. And this can be much more than it should be.

An example: Suppose you have 90 with respect to X. Now, you boost your PER by 50. You should gain 25 in reaction but the reaction cannot cross 100. You will have 100 with respect to X. Now, the boost is over. You are loosing the extra 25 in reaction in all cases, including X. Therefore, you will have 75 with respect to X.

Result: Because you have boosted your PER, you have lost in reaction!

Never use PER boosting spells or items! Or, rather, use them only if you cannot lose reaction by the mechanism described above. Keep in mind that the reaction boost = PER boost/2 and that you will lose the full value of the reaction boost later.
