If I cast bound long sword for instance, and then use it, if I'm successful does that count as using my long sword skill?

Thanks

yes, it counts. wanna know a funny trick?

make an enchanted exquisite ring that has bound longbow, bound axe, bound long sword, and bound short sword as constant effects. then make sure you are holding a non bound weapon in your hands. next, use the + key to cycle through your magical items until you are no longer wearing the bound items ring (this is important, just taking the ring off in your inventory will crash the game). you now will possess four permanent bound weapons, although they will need to be repaired, they will still weigh nothing and will add to your bonuses as usual.

Mmmm . I think I might give that a miss actually :D

Thanks!

Dunno the mechanism that causes it, but after a while, bound items from constant effect rings/whatever show up in your inventory and stay there, even after you stop wearing the item.

Strangly, they seem to breed: I'm currently carrying 9 bound bows, 6 spears, and 2 cuirasses, even though I took off my amulet a LONG time ago...

Oru, read my post... its a bug in the game that lets you keep bound items which are in your inventory even after you remove the item. it isnt time sensitive at all, every time youve taken off that amulet youve had some of the items in your inventory instead of carrying them so they remained, which is why you now have so many.

Why do you want bound items when there are sooo many amazing artifacts in the game??? :s

promethius9594 06-03-2004 04:17 PM

um, simply put, they arent bad themselves (there's no charge to run out, and i always carry a weapon that isnt inneffective when charge goes...) and they weigh NOTHING. namely, i can carry eight total weapons and four don't weigh anything, relieving me of almost 200 lbs of stuff to carry around.

More simply put, my blight staff makes any game weapon (and almost all player created weapons) look like using a fork against a bad guy. if, however, it runs out of charge, it becomes a weak stick that doesnt do much damage. if all my weapons are like that, then i waste all my charges on rats and cliff racers... the first golden saint i find is going to mince me up and serve me for breakfast. HOWEVER, i carry a few bound weapons (battleaxe, longbow, longsword) to use on smaller opponents who dont require huge damage OR on characters who cast reflect on themselves (ie, any magick you hit them with comes back and hits you instead) so that they can't reflect.

I like them because it means I can improve my conjuration skill (one of my major skills) and my longsword skill (also a major skill) at the same time. And because the best longsword I have atm is the icicle, which is kind of crap ;)

whats "the icicle"?

I have actually done that once. Sheogorath had me attacking a bull netch with a new little weapon called the fork of horripilation, which I got from an insane Argonian hermit.

Gotta love those Daedra :D

heh, yeah, that was the reference i was making. by the time i was taking down the netch, though, i was such a high level that it didnt matter. the ring of levitation and the ring of strength i had on didnt hurt though. yeah, my blight staff pretty much makes most of the non self-made weapons look useless.

by the way, aes sedai... are you actually a female, or should i start calling you lan?

It's just a longsword I found somewhere that does frost damage. I've had it practically all game, so it's not the most powerful thing around. A bound longsword does a lot more damage
