Yeah i have a made a wery cool soul trap spell but how is it working? because i have never used one before and i trie on a Golden Saint i killed and the spell works and i have severeal Grand soul gems in my invetory but noting happen to them should not the soul from the GS go into one of those?

I assume you know how to cast spell. okay, go to a monster, make sure the soul gem is empty and is in your inventory. then cast Soul Trap spell on the monster. you MUST kill the monster as fast as possible before the spell vanish. if you are succesful there will be a message saying you have trap a soul.

Sometimes, the spell does not work because you haven't touched the victim - you were too far from it. The remedy is creating a ranged Soul Trap. Ranged Soul Trap is much more confortable than the normal Soul Trap and it isn't much more expensive than the normal Soul Trap. You get the following advantages:
1. You cannot be too far from your victim. The spell is ranged. 2. You can cast the spell even if you are close to your victim. Ranged spells work at the "touching" distance, too. 3. You can cast the spell on your victim while it is far from you and then you can catch up your sword and fight. This system is much more safe than trying to cast the spell in the middle of the fight. You can also increase the duration of the spell, for example, to 90 seconds. The spell will be cheap still. Note: Another possible reason for the failure of your Soul Trap is magic resistance of your victim. If the victim has resisted the spell then you get no soul. |
Oh so you must cast the spell BEFORE you kill it? then kill it and the soul should be trapped in the gem?
And the spell i made have a pretty long range too. Okay i must make it have a longer duration it only have 2 seconds lol and the other thing i did wrong was that i thot i should cast the spell on the dead body after killing it hehe. Okay thanks guys [ 11-20-2003, 10:47 AM: Message edited by: Megabot ] |
I always walk up to the creature who's soul i'm gonna put in a jar. :D I cast the spell from close range, then i draw my sword and kill it. You have 60 seconds i believe, but i'm long gone by then. Make sure you have the right soulgems.

Yep i made it i trapped a Golden Saint and after that the soul gem is wort 80000 bucks sheesh lol and i have this trader outside Belmora who have 500000 bucks so no problem to get anything sold hehe! no money problem here now.

Yep it was a Grand Soul gem it was trapped in anyway do you know how a can make a spell "Summon Golden Saint"? none it looks like can make it so i must use scrolls and now i have only 4 of them ...
|
Go searching for the people who sell spells. I have them all (i think), although i don't use most of them.
|
Yes i do that later anyway i think i have 50 spells my self and i allmost dont use them but it would be cool to have this spell.
What kinda weapon du you use? i use the "Sunder" still and i have 100% Blunt weapon skill but i think the Sunder is a bit boring should have a greater weapon though... |
Phew, i carry several with me, but i mostly stick with the Dual wield katana's. It's a plugin, they're runed Daedric katana's, and i've enchanted both swords with "fortify strength" constant effect.
Then i carry Chrysamere with me, the best sword i have so far. I also have the Daedric Crescent, Goldbrand, and Trueflame, but i stuffed them in a box in my Vivec Residence. Besides the katana's and Chrysamere, i always carry the Daedric Longbow, and the Wizard Staff, for levitating when i have to travel across water and stuff. |
With soul trap, the duration of the spell is real important... more than once I've missed out on a soul because the spell expired a fraction of a second before the critter died.
I do like the soul drinker dagger you get for doing some not nice things [or lieing about having done them] for the head mage in Balmora: I rarely use the spell at all, just grab the dagger when I see something I want to trap, whack it a couple of times, then switch to a better weapon [I configured the controls to switch weapons via the mouse wheel: very speedy way to swap.] IMO, Sunder is one of the very best weapons in the game: I'm not sure just how the +30 attack on it works, but it rocks, as well it should: the hammer of the gods, after all... some interesting things about soultrap...
if you use the version you can buy at the mage guild, the touch version, when you use the spell on a summoned creature, like a saint, it does not register as a hostile action, so the saint will just stand there....but a ranged soul trap will definately be noticed as an attack... soul trapping saints can be an iffy proposition...they have the ability to cast dispell on themselves so you need a powerful weapon to bash them quickly and effectively. a fun thing to try soul trapping golden saints... hehhehehheh!!! try levitating using a constant effect levitate item, really really high, and equip a constant effect slowfall item...summon a saint, using a device, make sure it will stick around a while... now the poor saint will immediately start falling, giving you a "you dirty %$#@#*&!!!" look as it freefalls... unequipp the constant effect levitate item, and you will slowfall tword the ground...you'll see the golden saint on the ground, and after it climbs out of the hole its made on the landscape, it will just stand there, so you can soul trap it, and kill it...and because it took a huge fall, it will be much much weaker and hurt, making it very easy to kill...a very considerable benefit at lower levels... ;) |
