Can you summon creatures and then trap their souls? It's just that whenever someone summons a creature and I kill it, it disappears and leaves no body, like it's sort of a pretend creature. Because I really need a golden saint soul and I don't want to have to go looking for one.

Thanks

Kakero 05-24-2003 10:58 PM

yes you can, first cast the summon creature spell, cast soul trap on them and quickly kill them.

The summon golden saint spell can be bought on the guy ( where you steal his staff on a Sadrth Mora thief guild quest )on the tower of Tel Branora.

PufferFish 05-24-2003 10:59 PM

yes, if you summon a golden saint and cast soul trap it will trap the soul when you kill it, and when it is dying on the ground if you try to take things from it before it dissapears you will be able to take its weapon and possibly a shield, and they usually have ebony or daedric things. works out great

Aelia Jusa 05-24-2003 11:05 PM

Yes, well I have several scrolls of it (I doubt I'd have enough skill to actually cast it myself ;) ). Great, well I'll get right on it! Wanna make myself a constant effect fortify strenth object, thinking maybe some pants or a shirt.

Thanks! Very quick responses for this time of day! ;)

Btw what type of armour class is adamantium armour? Better than daedric?

Kakero 05-24-2003 11:07 PM

adamantium is medium armor, it's silvery in colour ( there's a guy at ebonheart who wears it, for Tribunal expansion only ). daedric armor is still the best though. :D

What about ebony? I have daedric greaves and helmet, lord's mail, and various gloves and boots, but I still have ebony pauldrons. Would it be worth it to make adamantium ones instead? The money isn't a problem but I'd have to do some fancy weight swapping and trapise all the way back down the sewers to fetch the stuff ;)

Edit: Oh I just noticed you said medium! That does sound good, would be lighter than my ebony I guess?

ebony is heavy armor, second best after daedric. bewteen ebony and adamantium I say use ebony as the armour rating it gives is higher.

If weight is the problem then cast feather spell on yourself. this will enable you to carry more stuff. OR fortify streght spell. both works almost the same.

or even better, use an item that have constant fortify strength.

Aelia Jusa 05-24-2003 11:27 PM

Yes well I just said in this very thread that I was planning on making a fortify strength item!

Well I think maybe I'll make just one pauldron to see what it looks like anyway ;)

Thanks

I see the topic has changed somehow, but If you are still interested, the head mage in caldera mages guild (Folms Miriel IIRC)sells those summon golden saint scrolls, but only if you are a fairly high ranking member of the guild. Rembember that you can trap two souls from the same creature, just cast two soul trap spells from different sources (e.g. normal spell + scroll/item). At least according to a topic we had some time ago. Didn't test it myself.

PufferFish 05-26-2003 02:28 AM

how do you get your magic high enough to cast the summon golden saint spell?

Kakero 05-26-2003 02:40 AM

1. get your conjuration skill as high as possible, probably 100++

2. make sure your magicka is more than 170++. use a race that have bonus to magicka or a sign that have bonus to magicka.

OR

after you buy the spell, enchant an item ( I used an exquisite pant with a grand soul gem with the soul of golden saint) to carry the golden saint spell. Best Solution!!

Aelia Jusa 05-26-2003 05:28 PM

Thanks for everyone's help! I actually already had about 3 scrolls of golden saint, but I'll keep that guy in mind for next time B_part . I got some spanking exquisite pants with fortify strength 12 (all they could hold) and added 60 to my max weight! Nice! Plus I don't look like a complete fashion disaster anymore wearing a skirt with my greaves! :D

Firestormalpha 05-26-2003 09:34 PM

Aelia, I hate to burst your bubble, but if you had just used a ring or amulet you could have doubled the bonus. Oh yeah I don't know what all these rumors about only about 18 grand soul gems in the whole game. In my other play I found somewhere over 30. 22 still unused. If I ever wanted to sell the fully charged units I'd have to spend years with creeper in Caldera (that bum crab refuses to by soul gems). Unless that is supposed to be 18 fixed spawns in the game and the rest are random placement based on luck and character level.

Well, that's not that bad: out there in real life I've seen girls wearing skirts and military boots... At least Greaves are useful...
Anyway, every strength point adds 5 pounds to maximum weight you can carry, so 12 * 5 =60

I don't know about the 18 fixed positions, but most of the gems you found are indeed random spawn. There are many containers which spawn random level-based loot, and among them there are a couple which spawn gems. Usually they are found in dungeons. Anyway, go talk to Azura and forget about looking for gems.

Greystone 05-27-2003 06:26 AM

"...random placement based on luck and character level."

How much impact does luck have on random items, and does a spell that boosts this stat temporarily have any effect on the chance to get better items from such locations? How much impact does luck have overall on this game?

--Greystone

Kakero 05-27-2003 08:04 AM

from 0 - 100 luck it doesn't mean anything much to your game. but a 100000 luck you'll see a super mega huge difference. eg, you naked lv1 character can't be hit by vivec etc etc.

Greystone 05-27-2003 05:08 PM

So does this mean that choosing Luck as one of your "primary" stats during character creation (thus getting a +10 boost) is a waste of points? Would these points be better used somewhere else?

--Greystone

ps. How do you get your luck up to 100000?

Kakero 05-27-2003 07:07 PM

yes, use them somewhere else.

simple, just use several fortify luck potions.

Yeah I'm sure that's true. However I don't have any fingers left for rings and I'm switching amulets all the time what with my amulets of mark/recall/interventions, that having a constant strength amulet wouldn't be convenient. I considered a belt but I didn't have an exquisite or extravagant one handy and couldn't be bothered going and finding one ;) . Plus as I said, I've been wanting to get rid of my skirt-greaves look for a while now :D (And adding too much more enchantment would have been too expensive ;) ).

Dunno where you heard that 18 grand soul gems bit! I've found stacks in dungeons, there's usually one in every few boxes or so.
