I was walking around in Mournhold enjoying the scenery and otherwise minding my own business when I bumped into this Gaenor.
He gave me a story about his luck was about to turn for the better, all he needed was a little cash. So, as the nice guy I am I gave him 50 but he pleeded for more.
I played along, but it soon became an ridiculous amount of gold so I reloaded the game and told him that I wasn't a walking charity.
He wasn't happy about that and told me I would regret that someday.
Yeah right, like I cared about his opinion. What could that little gnome do to me, a mighty lvl 13 archer.
Well.. a few days later I bumped into him near the tempel, but this time he was in full armor and set to kill me.
I thought okay, give it your best shot. After all I could allways use the gold from his armor. But before I finished that thought, I found myself lieing dead on the ground.
Okay, he had obviously become rather powerful so another strategy was necessery.
I remembered that I killed Umbra with my bow from the top of a rock where he couldn't reach me( very heroic ), so maybe I could find a spot where I could do the same to that idiot.
I found some rocks I could jump to the top of, so all that was left was to get Gaenors attention, run back to the rocks and turn him into a pincushion.
So I did. I ran... 10-15 feet and then I died.
OK, so he was fast too, but I could be faster if I could get the Boots of Blinding Speed.
So back to Vvardenfeld, kill the witch, drink a few potions, put on the boots and off to Mournhold.
And yes, I was faster than him. So standing atop a rock, I started firing arrows at him assured that he was going down now.
But nothing happened, not even a scratch and eventually he found a way up to me and, ofcourse killed me.
I tried to drain his fatigue by running laps in the tempel yard, but he didn't even break a sweat.

So, what is the deal with that guy. I know that I'm only lvl 13 but I should have hit him with an arrow or 2.
Is he immune to normal weapons ( I'm using silver arrows, don't know if they're counted as normal )?
Is there a way to come to an agreement with him ( via dialog options ) when you first meet him?
I guess that he's not invincible, but at what lvl is it possible to defeat him and is there something he's vunerable to?

PS:Sorry about the long rant, but it was the funniest event I've encountered in the game so far, and I spent the whole evening figuring out what to do with him.

That Gaenor is a real pain, isn't he As far as I know, the only way to avoid him is never to start. My characters have both been above level 50 when taking him on and, while winning, still had no easy fight. I believe he has a VERY high luck value, so unless you do too, you've got problems.

And you won't either unless you run the Tribunal expansion .... He's in the Temple district of Mournhold.

OK, I guess I should stay clear of him until I,ve learned some new tricks.

Try with area effect arrows. You can buy them at the fletcher's shop in Vivec, Foregn quarter (you must have the official bethesda fletcher mod). Lucky or mighty as he might be, I don't think he can escape splashing damage.
And while you are buying the arrows, steal the daedric longbow you find in the same shop. That will greatly help as well.

get a chameleon spell up to 30% ( preferable if it's conctant enchantment from items ), then sneak and shoot him with your arrow from far away. he'll never know what hit him. it's not a crime also. ;)

Rageheart 05-15-2003 06:38 PM

get a bunch of rising force potions.....levatate and buy a bunch of fire and ice scrolls..........that oughta fix Gaenor's wagon lol

Kakero 05-15-2003 06:41 PM

*cough* you can't leviatate at Mournhold. ;)

Yeah, that's right. They don't want you to peak over the walls only to discover that you're floating right over Ebonheart.

emm..actually, Almalexia cast a spell on Mournhold making that no one can leviatate because she dislike people to be above her head. I think it's found on the conversatiob box.

It's just when you look at the map, you're still in Ebonheart. ;)
