a weird thing happend to me.I suddenly saw a new spell in my spells list called:
"ashlanders' curse -drain fatigue".
it does something stupid like drain fatigue 1-20 but also corporus on self!
is that one way to become a vampire?
I didn't buy that spell.I think i got it when i walked in the ashlands for a while...

any replies will be welcomed...

hmmmmm that's a bit odd. Try to use blight cure or something.....

B_part 11-21-2002 04:45 PM

??? doesn't ring any bell... I wandered in the ashkands for ages but didn't get anything like that... I found a Dwemer Animunculi spell (summons centurion spheres), I played a bit with the vampire tpouch spell, but no ashlanders curse.

Anyway you won't become a vampire: the only way is to get infected by another vampire (and choose the clan carefully), and then not curing the illness within three days (Hemophilia something - which is btw the name of the real illness from which the myth of vampires originates)

corprus is the illness of the nerevarine.

Well if you complete the cure corprus quest, then you can no longer get infected with corprus, (or cannot become a vampire either after that).

So Hemophilia and corprus are two names for the same disease?

johnny 11-21-2002 09:03 PM

What level is your character ?

fistandantilus2 11-21-2002 09:46 PM

level 35, close to being the head of the telvani, but didn't start the main quest yet...
(the corporus diseases is not a problem (i used a previous saved game) i was just curious about how i got that spell...)

fistandantilus2 11-21-2002 09:53 PM

until i got to be around level 20 i used to get into every vault/cave i saw on my way (i actualy WALKED from balamora to vivic...(-
so that's how i got to be on a relative high level and didn't do many quests...

but it was fun to do all that mountain climbing under the moonlight on the way...

Grungi 11-22-2002 05:34 AM

whats special bout walking from balmora to vivec? i done that about 50 times , cliffracers are annoyin but sometimes too much hassle to go by strider esp when im looking for something.

and origins of original vampires in myth are massively varied, haemophilia is just one example (and from what i know not a very established one as its thinning of the blood), others are people with advanced SAD disorder and imported vampire bats (stowed in cargo ships and came to europe by accident) when they bit people myths began, though they mainly went for cattle so superstitious farmers blamed it on the undead etc etc

oh and haemophilia is nothing to do with corpus disease

Rageheart 11-22-2002 04:50 PM

well then, i think thats' settled, and well not to brag or anything........well yes i am bragging, i made the round trip around the island of morrowind. Quite fun, really. I came back with a lot of loot......

Grungi 11-25-2002 06:12 AM

I do, when i have to go from the south part of the island to the north. You don't expect me to walk that all the way, do you ?

Rageheart 12-01-2002 10:30 AM

i only take striders when i know there is nothing in between the two places, or if im in a hurry.

No.
H. can be transmitted by vampires, and can be cured within three days. If you don't get cured you will become a vampire, which boosts some of your stats, gives you access to some quests, but also makes you vulnerable to sunlight and hated by most NPCs. Some ancient texts talk about a cure, but it is only rumors...maybe.

Corprus is a disease which is somewhat connected to the Sixth House (you will learn more during the main quest), and has a relationship with the Nerevarine prophecy. Corprus is transmitted by the contact with infected individuals, and makes people resistant to any disease but drives them mad.

Rageheart 12-01-2002 03:46 PM

well corprus makes u one of those big fleshy monsters

Grungi 12-01-2002 06:13 PM
