Heres a question...
What, in your opinion, is the best wepoin EXCLUDING carsomyr and the 'put together items' (the ones in pieces). It seems that everyone forgets about the other weapons, as I think weapons are split into these categories: SUPER WEAPONS: Crom Fayer, The wave. Carsomyr etc GOOD WEAPONS: Celestial fury, Dragon slayer, Daystar etc OK WEAPONS: Sword of Sarevok, Jhor the bleeder, Sword of flame Whats your best 'Non SUPER' weapon? Mine is Celestial fury |
Blade of the Roses +3 to hit and damage. +3 or was it 2 charisma. I though this rocked for a chapter 2 weapon and for a very long time remains good.
|
Since you said no SUPER items that excluded almost all the TOB items so my favorite great item would be
S P O I L E R Black razor which you get in hell if you do the evil path of the genie quest there |
The Barbarian Warblade from Ribalds secret stash is pretty good, as is Celestial Fury. Upgraded Mace of Disruption can hit anything (it's a +5 weapon!), staff of the Magi is awesome and Strong Arm is the most damaging bow in the game (including ToB!!!).
Blade of Roses has +2 CHA. My fav is the Impailer Spear.......14-19 base damage excluding STR, gauntlets and weapon proficencies....nice :D [ 02-22-2002: Message edited by: Jim ]
|
Dragon's Breath Halberd +4
Soul Reaver +4 Staff of Fire and/or Staff of Air Unicorn's Horn +2 Azuredge +3 Daystar +2 / +4 vs. Evil -- Nifft |
I like Belm, the scimitar of speed
|
SPOILER
/ / / / / / / / Usuno's Blade!!! (if thats its name) its a TOB weapon, but you can get it in SOA with TOB installed. its on a statue in watchers keep. my favorite weapon ever. |

Also i just saw the flametongue, and god it rocks! I always thought it was like the flame sword and didn't bother taking it up... wow. [ 02-22-2002: Message edited by: Harry ]
|
Yeah, flame tongue is powerful and strikes as a +4 weapon. I assure you that the mace of disruption that has been upgraded using Illithium strikes as a +5 weapon. Just cos it has +2 to hit and damage doesn't mean it's a +2 weapon. It hits kangaxx, as well as the Demon in the village in the underdark (requires at least +3), and I browsed it's abilities using IEE Pro and it is indeed +5 enchantment to hit ;)

I cant exacly remember the name of it but it is a bow that fires 3 arrows per round
|
Yes definately the Tuigan Bow. I always was bothered by the fact it was a shortbow, so I made a modified longbow with similar attributes that rangers and other archers out there will probably appreciate. Actually, this bow will most help those who cannot attain higher mastery than specialized in longbows. But it still would be considered the best bow in the game.
Elvish Longbow +4 This bow is a rare sight outside of the close-knit society of the elves. It is a longbow of sorrel yew and laced with burnished mithril vine traceries, not only beautiful, but functional. Thus made, this bow is capable of firing farther and faster than most others. STATISTICS: Equipped Abilities: +2 Dexterity Combat Abilities: 3 shots per round THACO: +5 bonus Damage: +2, plus Strength Bonus Weight: 3 Speed Factor: 1 Proficiency Type: Longbow Type: 2-handed Requires: 12 Strength Not Usable By: Druid Cleric Mage [ 02-23-2002: Message edited by: Aurican ]
|
For early gaming, the flail of ages rocks...give it to a cleric afterwards.
Celestial fury of course rocks...it has a lot of magic properties. The talking sword is the best sword for minsc for a long time. The pixie prick dagger has a good sleeping effect. The short bow you buy in trademeet that shoots magic arrows is very good for Imoen or a thief. The belm scimitar for Jaheira. |
Definitely Daystar. You can deal over a thousand damage to undead with it. I equiped it with Minsc and went straight through the Shade Dungeoun, no problem. But getting it is a little tough.
|
Celestial Fury, Daystar, Adjatha the Drinker...
|
Where do you get the talking sword (i forgot)
|
hello??? let's get a little love for Stonefire here. available in chapter 2 right along with the blade of roses, a +3 axe that does fire damage and for less than 5000 gp. if you're proficient in axes it will serve you far into ToB (frostreaver's ok too, but undead arent immune to fire like they are to acid/cold).
sling of seeking. +2 and STR damage bonus. blackblood. +3 club that does acid damage. belm. +2 scimitar that gives an extra attack. arbane's sword. +2 short sword that makes user immune to hold and hastes once/day for 12 seconds. |
So far from chapter two( Weapons I use for different characters):
Super weapons: Staff of Magi, Carsomyr, and yes, Sling of Everard Great weapons: Celestial Fury, Flail of Ages, StoneFire, Frostreaver, Hammer of Thunderbolts, Blackblood(underestimated), Staff of Rynn, Tuigan Bow, and Azuredge Good weapons ( for abilities - some are really great ): Daystar, Dragonslayer, Jerrod's Mace(nice against demons), Everard's Morning Star(underestimated), Adjatha The Drinker( nice immunities), Defender of Easthaven(I use this most with Flail of Ages on Minsc), Sling of Seeking( with girdle of hill giant str and str dmg bonus - yoikes), and HeartSeeker. Preferred ranged items: arrows of biting and piercing. Carsomyr is great in melee but I hate uncontrolled dispells. I also think the staff of air and fire are great to use against the appropriate npcs. Staff of striking seems fun for backstabbing with but isn't really great due to it's limited charges. My favorite has to be the Staff of the Magi. Dispells, spell trap, invis, +5 enchantment, immunity to charm, 3 times a day fireball-lightening, ac+2, saves+2, pro evil - wow. This is an example of a really really great weapon. |
Rifthome Axe, Azuredge, that flaming dagger and the flaming Dart
All these weapons provide unlimited missile attacks with decent damage In combination with Boots of Speed you can survive almost any battle unscathed. For Melee weapons: Daystar, Blade of the Roses and Warblade+4 are available very early (if you fly through the underdark) and of course Lilarcor |
Impaler Spear, essentially +13
|

The Impailer Spear adds the 10 extra damage separately, right you are Niff that this does not get doubled with critical hits, similarly to the elemental damage from the Flail of Ages, however, the Staff of the Ram combines all crushing and piercing damage and displays one huge lump sum of damage that truly gets doubled with C/H's. Therefore, it's an ideal backstabbing weapon *BAM* 300 DMG :D |
The Celestial Fury is a VERY good weapons, the best in SoA, but in ToB it has to be the Psion Blade. +5, immunity to all the stuff the Ullithid can throw at you. But the Runehammer is also good, but it is better when you upgrade it.

Soul Reaver or Impaler.
