Nope, this is NOT a list where you complain about bugs in the game. It's more that I'm curious about what sort of trouble people are experiencing.
So, why not share them here and see which one discovers the most bizzare and strange bug, hmm?

To start off I've found two bugs myself:

1 - Usually you can select all the items in a stack by pressing SPACE or ENTER, saving you from clicking OK. However, if you try to make a potion, and if you do this to select more than one ingredient the game crashes.
If you just click OK with the mouse everything works fine.

2 - If you set the "Next weapon" and "Prev weapon" to the mousewheel it works fine. That is, until you rest or barter. After that you have to reload the game again for it to work.
Not even mapping new keys will help. If you want to change weapons you must do so manually in the inventory menu.

So, what's YOUR bugs?

Kakero 06-10-2002 07:39 AM

1. I suddenly become guildmaster of House hlaalu eventhough I've already become guildmaster of house redoran.

2. the bound longsword bug

3. and the shrine of bothiah will forever not completed if you talk to M'aiq ( east of vos ) about the shrine of bothiah to him.

4. repeatedly getting 1000 from house hlaalu after solving raleen hlaalu murder.

5. you'll be shoot to oblivion if you jump too much.

6. sometimes will get stuck at some places and couldn't move.

that's the only bug I've encountered in the game.

We ran into an odd bug last night. Our character is a Wood Elf unter the Shadow sign. We had just used the Beast Tounge spell on a Corky and it was following us around fine. However, we saved our progress, died, and reloaded the saved game but the Corky was no longer under our control. In addition, it just kinda walked back and forth and eventually just walked out into the middle of a river.

Very bizzarr.

Note: X-Box version

1. Falling through the floor and eventually landing where you were standing, and dying (of course)

2. at any given monent, crash to windows

3. Enemies being stuck in doorways (the only way I can kill orcs) ;)

Goumindong 06-10-2002 02:14 PM

ive had that happen to me too.

for some reason monsters get reset if you save/load next to them.

At one point i saved talked to a guy and then he attacked me. So i reloaded, once that happend he attacked me.

Bruce The Aussie 06-10-2002 02:17 PM

the only problems i've had are occasionally getting stuck on rocks for short periods and a glitch that means if i hold a direction button for more than 3 or 4 seconds the character is stuck walking that way. its made the game unplayable. at this i am very angry.

Is the xbox version identical to the PC version? Any bug fixes in the xbox version?

Rokenn 06-10-2002 03:03 PM

They have fixed a couple of the reported bugs in the Xbox version that I have checked. You can not dropped summoned items, so you can no longer make them permanent. Also the fixed the raleen hlaalu murder quest reward, you can only get the reward once. Have not tested any other known bugs yet.

the sauceman 06-10-2002 05:54 PM

Hmmmm...

I too crash to windows, but only when the game is loading a new area.
(EX:from moonmoth fort to i am god! Fear Me You FOOL! moonmoth fort interior.)
Havent tried the murder bug yet, but I will! Hehe! :D

Gormash 06-12-2002 06:18 AM

I got me a nice bug!

I practiced my Marksman skill, and when I rose from 44 I didn't achieve 45. Nope, I suddenly had 453 in that skill. I can't raise it any more, but that doesn't matter, cause I kill even when I miss by as much as half an inch! ^_^

Paladin2000 06-12-2002 10:54 PM

Ok, I will add some to the list:

1. Intervention bug - I only tried this with Almsivi Intervention, therefore in theory it should also work for Divine Intervention too. Let say you use the Balmora Mage Guild teleporting service to get to Vivec. Once you are in Vivec, as long as you stay indoor the foreign quater building, if you cast Almsivi Intervention, you would be back to the temple in Balmora instead of the one in Vivec. It seems that you location is not updated if you use the mage teleporter until you exit the destination's building.

2. Kick back to the desktop bug - especially if I travel to places by levitation.

3. Enchant "constant Effect" with a poorer quality soul gem - This is one of my favorite exploit. Anyway I won't spoil this for you.

4. Soul Trap bug - This would not work on summoned creature. Kill the monster and then cast soul trap later. yes, you can still capture the soul and YES, you can cast soul trap on the same old corpse again and again and again... a pretty nice bug, isn't it? ;)

Warhammer 06-13-2002 06:14 AM

Same here:

1/ Apparently random crashes to desktop.

2/ Getting stuck in differents part of the real estate.

3/ I've heard of all the exploitable bugs you mention, but I avoid them like Blight since they can spoil the game for me.

I got a nasty one, ALL the menus in the game that uses sliders tend to gon all the way up or all the way down. I cant slide it to the center. Instead, I have to use my scrollmouse button to quickly roll down, then slider goes down, and when I'm at the point where I want to be, I have to slide one notch up again. It's a complete PAIN when I'm reading books.

The strangest bug I have recieved is from one of the developers. I read about others getting it as well. Anyway all of a sudden while playing I recieved a message box as follows:

A bad (dead) pointer has been detected
The system will now crash
Have a nice day.
(See Chris)

And then my system crashed...was kinda funny
Like I said I`m guessing "Chris" was one of the developers.

WOLFGIR 06-14-2002 03:55 AM

Well apart from the crash to desktop, (use the Unreal Tournament thingie here, start play a couple of minutes, then shut down the game and restart, and then the game will work mire stable.. yeah I know weird as heck..)

I get stuck in grass now and then, seriously annoying, best way to get out is to use the alvimsi or divine intervention but then you have to walk back all the way ..*sigh*

I have had an NPC that walked through a bridege, her head sticking up above the bridege, walking back and forth...

Also, the dialouges is stuttering, and creatures talks to you and then suddenly go ape on you, like hey, you killed all my friends, but I forgeot that cause you are such a handsome guy.. (personality 30 and speechcraft 10, nobody likes him ;) )

huma 06-14-2002 04:32 AM

WOLFGIR THE absolute BEST COMMAND in the game is called "FIXME"
If you ever find yourself stuck on, in, or below anything etc etc
open your command prompt ~ (tilde) key and enter the words fixme and press enter. IT WILL FIX YOU (move you a couple feet and un-stick you) I guess. Best command in the game if you ask me.

Cheers mate! ;)

Thanks, that one will come in handy! :D

Paladin2000, that Intervention stuff is not a bug. It teleports you to the NEAREST temple of the kind you use, not the one where you bought the spell.

I don't know if this is a bug or shoddy programming, but last night I was levitating/flying and used my bow on a critter.
Since the poor sod couldn't get to me it started running around in circles below me for a few seconds before it started attacking the ground directly below me. As I moved, if followed after, attacking the ground. rocks and trees I passed over. Looked mighty stupid... ^_^

Paladin2000 06-14-2002 04:15 PM

Gormash, I know how the spell works but this is not my point. Let me try again.

1. I was in Balmora mage guild.

2. I use the teleporter service to get to vivec.

3. If I cast Almsivi Intervention before exiting the foreign plaza in Vivec, the spell teleports me back to the temple in Balmora. But I was in Vivec, you see... and the nearest temple is in the Temple District.

But if I exit the building and cast this spell, I am teleported to the temple in Vivec, which is how the spell should work. If you don't believe me, just go ahead and try it out yourself.

ROFL!! I didn't even think about this until I read your post Huma. About a month ago, while I was in a dungeon in my first 10 or 20 hours of playing, I tried to open a chest. A box came up saying exactly what you posted. Then, when I reloaded it, another box came up saying something like this..."A brick which has previously been removed is being removed again. Trust NOTHING!" then something else which I've forgoten since then and "Have a nice day:)-see Chris
IT had an OK button to push like our favorite Windows problems right before they crash to desktop.

It didn't crash the second time, but I had a good laugh about it. I thought about contacting Chris at Bethesda, but since I didn't write down the message I don't know what I would have said. It DOES say SEE CHRIS. I should have seen Chris. There's a Chris Innanen in the programmers credits so I'm betting that's our comedian...
