I have no idea what this spell actually does for you.

Recluse 06-03-2002 09:26 PM

I think i saw in the book somewhere that it reduces your encumbrence amount.

slackerboy 06-03-2002 10:10 PM

by doing what, it doesnt increase your strength, I'm just kinda confused 'bout how this works.

frudi_x 06-03-2002 11:04 PM

what's to understand? it decreases encumbrance, plain and simple.
say your encumbrance is at 200 and you cast magnitude 50 feather; your encumbrance will drop to 150 for the duration of the spell.
told you it was simple

theifprowess 06-04-2002 06:04 AM

get plenty of those juicedaws feather scrolls they reduce your encumberance by 50 for 240 sec all the other spells only last for like at most 30 sec

slackerboy 06-04-2002 04:58 PM

Ok i wasn't aware that encumberance had an actuall numerical quantity.
I just thought it was when the combined weight of each item you were carrying was greater than the amount that your strenght let you carry.
Is your encumberance value the difference of those numbers or what?

Why not just fortify strength?

Goumindong 06-08-2002 12:42 AM

feather is cheaper...

Also, feather doesnt reduce encumberance by a set point value. Anyone who has taken the first temple quest knows this. It reduces your emcumberance by a set %. So a 50 point feather reduces encumberance by 50% (and a 50 point burden increases it so). A 100 point feather makes you have no encumburance.

nope, i'm certain it reduces it by a set number of points, i just checked. magnitude 50 feather reduces encumbrance by 50 points, magnitude 100 by 100 points etc.

theifprowess 06-08-2002 04:29 AM

yep frudi is right its not a percentage. it is actually points.

Black Dragon6 06-08-2002 09:20 AM

an idea struck me the other day. if you enchanted aever piece of a full deadric or ebony armour set(normally to heavy to use)with fether say 30 points of it could make the armour not only useable but down right easy to carry...would this work?

p.s.i know it would uber expensive so dont bother telling me that.

frudi_x 06-08-2002 11:02 AM

of course it would work, another option would be to just enchant the armor with constant fortify strength. that's actually something i did in my game - enchanted every bit of daedric armor i could find (yes, including the tower shield) and ended up with a total carrying capacity of 1015 . cost me a fortune and several grand soul gems, then i got tired of it and stashed it in a quiet corner in balmora . played unarmored from then on...

Goumindong 06-08-2002 04:19 PM

It says points in the description but it is a percentage.

I did the temple quest in order. After i hit the first shrine which gives feather for a reall long time, my encumberance went from 145 to 0. When the spell wore off i could not move on the ground as i was carrying 220 encumberance. 100 points of feather reduced encumberance to 0, because its a percentage.

Black Dragon6 06-08-2002 05:16 PM

Youve got a point frudi_x but that is a bit cheap isnt it?

funny you should call it cheap, when it cost me several hundred thousand whatever-the-currency-in-morrowind-is's to enchant .
and i don't consider it cheap in any case. even with a 1000 encumbrance capacity, when you subtract the armor weight and all the essential stuff you're always carrying around it left me with under 500 encumbrance to spare. that's actually less then when i finally decided to drop armor and made some order in my inventory - my encumbrance then was 6 out of 570!

no way, i've checked at least five times now, it's deffinately points. i'm absolutely positively certain! willing to bet anything on it . get a spell and cest it, or equip a constant effect feather item and see what happens with your encumbrance.

Goumindong 06-08-2002 08:32 PM

Go to the shrine by the lake, outside of peligrad. Give some muck. Look at the effect it has. It says Feather:100 pts.

Feather: 100 pts reduced my encumberance from 147 to 0. When the feather ran out, my encumberance was at 216. If feather is a point value and not a percentage, that is not possible.

frudi_x 06-09-2002 05:19 AM

than the shrine is bugged or is implemented wrong. because i just checked AGAIN and it works by points.
forget the shrine, try casting the spell, or if you have it, equip the redas robe of deeds.

Goumindong 06-09-2002 01:40 PM

I did, and it was point based. Odd, considering the shrine is a 100 point feather in the description it give you in your char sheet.

Black Dragon6 06-09-2002 02:29 PM

sorry about that cheap thing.

do you know how to use a program called gmax? its a 3d editor.
