Well, in my other thread, HT hinted that he would enjoy an SW roleplay on the forum. I am happy to comply....
This is the sign-up thread. The campaign will be set around 50 years before The Phantom Menace. The level of technology is roughly the same as the prequel movies, and all types of characters are available. I would prefer to run a good character campaign, unless you all overwhelmingly say otherwise... Mostly, though, I want to emphasize that this is open to anyone, even people who don't know much about Star Wars---I can help with that (PM me to bounce ideas off of me, and whatnot). To sign up, state the character name, what they do for a living and what their special talents are. Let's make them high-average people, as far as skill level goes. I do not intend to use any particular stringent ruleset with this game, by the way, just a conceptual role-play. [ 04-30-2005, 02:46 PM: Message edited by: Ilander ] |
sounds interesting, depending on the pace of gameplay I may be able to join in.
|
Well, this is the first time that I've done an online roleplay, so as far as comparing the pace that I plan...
Ideally, I would like to update as often as possible...and I'll try to keep the action manageable. I am on here all the time, though, so I'll be able to respond to nearly every post in my time zone. |
Sounds good, you can count me in.
When I have time i will post a character ;) |
Hmm, I'm not here as much as I used to, but SW is always good. :D
So, Poo, I have this character, Nossk... :D :D :D |
I'm not really a huge fan of this, but as the others said, I may be interested depending on the pace. I'd probabaly play a Nautolan.
|
...What pace do you all want? Let's use specifics.
For instance, I will start. STORY INTRODUCTION The characters will start on Coruscant 50 years before the incidents at Naboo. The Galactic Senate has recently been debating issues of planetary security, in which many systems are to be disarmed, their home-defense forces reduced, or, in some cases, completely disbanded. It is a time of peace in the galaxy, though there are a few wars that exist in the less-travled sectors. The Hutts, in particular, have had agents intercepted on Bothawui, provoking a inter-planetary incident of ever-increasing scope. These troubles, however, are all relatively minor, and the Senate continues to discuss the situations, despite the fact that it has been five months since the troubles started. Unfortunately, as all of this is going on, there have been troubling happenings on Coruscant itself. The first terrorist attacks in ten years have left thousands dead, and security is being drawn tighter and tighter. However, on a world of 4 trillion (4 000 000 000 000 for those who use the word differently), security cannot be the final answer. A real solution is needed. The PCs are being called from their various homes for their unique abilities, some for investigative abilities, others for the blatantly obvious military necessities, and still others because they have special people skills. They do not yet know why they have been gathered. Game Mechanics Characters have a few stats, determined by personal stat-point distribution, and gameplay point rewards (think experience). The stats are: Athleticism (a description of how well a character can run, jump, climb, etc) Speechcraft (measure's the character's persuasive ability, how well they can communicate, and how many languages they can speak [+1 for every point over 4]) Physical Occupational Skills (a measure of how well one can perform physical tasks related to one's occupation) Mental Occupational Skills (a measure of how well one can perform mental tasks related to one's occupation) Melee Combat Skills (a measure of how well a character can perform in melee combat with or without various weapons) Ranged Combat Skills (a measure of how well a character can perform in ranged combat, with various weapons) Force Skills (a measure of one's ability to use the Force) --------------------------------------------------------------- Force Sensitive characters start will 35 points to distribute amongst these categories. Non-Force sensitive characters start with 30, and cannot distribute them in the "Force Skills" stat. --------------------------------------------------------------- Sample Character: Zklang Tselim, human pilot from Umgul. (insert description here) Not Force-sensitive Ath: 6 Spch:4 POS: 7 MOS: 5 MCS: 3 RCS: 5 FS: 0 Health: 30 Force: n/a -------------------------------------------------------------- Note that a 4 is "proficient," a 3 is "deficient," and a 5 is "above-average." There is no upper limit on the statistics, though no stat may be zero. -------------------------------------------------------------- Force skills are limited by expending one "force point." A character has (force skill rating)x(5)x(level) Force Points per day. Health is (athletics ranking)x(5)x(level). If a character changes his/her athletics ranking, health for their level will be reevaluated using this formula. -------------------------------------------------------------- Level ups are simultaneous for all characters at key storyline points. Whenever the character levels up, they gain extra health/force points. Every other level up, the characters get an extra stat point to distribute as they wish. -------------------------------------------------------------- PM me any questions. Perhaps we should make it so that no one can have any score lower than one. LOL, sure it seems obvious, but you never know when someone will feel they need a stat of 25 in something. ;)
Yeah ok, since we're mostly good, I guess no Sith characters, lol. I think a Ghent-ish character may be fun. What do ya think, Poo? |
Four interested so far, then. A "Ghent-ish" character would be just fine, Drew...but not the Sith. Unless you want him/her/it to just be killed off near-immediately, thanks to being on Coruscant.

I will post the actual game, soon. Within a day after I get some characters posted here, as a matter of fact.
|
Ya know, i just thought of something. I probably shouldn't start this until after my spring break. I will DEFINITELY not be near a computer in that time. The beach calls, and I must comply! :D ;)

Joneth Brek, Human Slicer from Coruscant
Ath: 2 Spch: 4 POS: 2 MOS: 19 MCS: 1 RCS: 4 Health: 40 Force: N/A Edit: Character is now officially updated. Oh, and I just jacked my hacking skills, since that's all I've been using. ;) And updated, again! [ 06-02-2005, 05:17 PM: Message edited by: Dron_Cah ] |
Ok just a question, is it assumed that all characters naturally speak their own language as well as common before the adventure?
Because if not I will have to change the languages. ---------------------------------- Bakilas Lamort, the Noghri Assassin (Spent most of life on Coruscant) Not Force-sensitive Ath: 4 Spch: 6 POS: 5 MOS: 4 MCS: 8 RCS: 5 Health: 60 Force: n/a Languages Spoken: Common, Noghri, Binary (Driod, through Datapad) [ 05-21-2005, 06:57 PM: Message edited by: shadowhound ] |
As far as languages go, the character would start off with either their native tongue or Basic (common) depending upon the situation. The other languages would greatly depend on circumstances, and it is very easy to imagine not picking up Basic, but I wouldn't really recommend it.

just lettin you know Ilander, I will DEFINANTLY be joining this game, the more I think about it, the more exciting it sounds.
There are huge possibilities for this and you had better damn take advantage of them :D :D |
unlike say, George Lucas *boggles at the stupidity of the prequels*
|
I'm going to set an actual date for the start of the actual game-thread of March 20th.
Those who wish to join at the beginning need to post their characters before then. I will allow characters to join AFTER the game begins, but I will require TWO days notice, and their character to be posted in THIS thread, not the game one. Sorry about changing the date from the original plan, but the characters weren't coming, and my internet access over spring break is going to be limited. [ 03-09-2005, 02:40 PM: Message edited by: Ilander ] |
allrighty, sorry I havnt had time to reply to your PM Ilander, I have been sorta busy, but I will get my character in before the game starts ;)

Te'Oma Senesca, Nautolan
From the planet Glee Anselm, although he hasn't been there for a very long time. Te'Oma stands about 2 Metre's tall and has about a dozen long tentecles sprouting from his head (These tenticles contain highly sensitive olfactory receptors, allowing him to detect pheromonal expressions of emotion and other changes in body chemistry) His deep green skin contrasts with his large, unblinking black eyes. Te'Oma usually lives on surface, as he has been on Coruscant for many years, but he is an excellent natural swimmer due to his amphibious race. ATTENTION EVERYONE...
I made a mistake in my character template above, leaving the Force Skills rating out. The proper template is as follows: NAME, description including race and occupation FORCE-SENSITIVITY (Force Sensitive or Not Force Sensitive) Athletics skill ranking Speechcraft ranking Physical Occupational Skill ranking Mental Occupational Skill ranking Melee Combat ranking Ranged Combat ranking Force Skill Ranking HP: (character level)x(athletics)x5 Force Points: (character level)x(Force Skill)x5 Languages spoken Character Level -------------------------------------------------- EXAMPLE: Dron Cah, human male Jedi. Force Sensitive Ath: 4 Spch:4 POS: 4 MOS: 5 MCS: 6 RCS: 6 FS: 6 HP: 25 FP: 30 Languages Spoken: Basic Level 1 |
I already have my character pretty much planned at home, so I just need to post it.
What do you think of my idea? (The one I PM'd you) Is it okay if I play an Evil charcater? I woudl REALLY like to....I dont like many of the good aligned force powers |
We'll have to discuss this, but I don't think that an evil character will fit into my campaign. Try and adapt your character.
|
Honestly, force powers are rather close to universal, in this type of setting. Really, dark side has fear, force choke, and force lightning over light side, and thats about it. Everything else, just be creative. :D
|
yeah I know, but there may be others that a light side person would never use.
but that dosnt matter now, because I will most likely play a light side character. |
Can I join? this looks mighty interesting but I warn you I have never played this sort of stuff online before.
Have an idea for a character Twilek scoundrel |
s'alright, Jorath...I've never GMed online before, and I doubt this forum has seen a Star Wars rp before either...so feel free to join! Just post your character here, following the instructions in my post in the middle of the first page and then you're eligible for the game.
I haven't written anyone out yet, so as far as I'm concerned, anyone who joins right now is included in everything that has happened so far. |
Hey guys, I've been really interested in joining ya'll and have spent the last week desperately trying to get approved for the forum. Glad to see ya'll getting this thing off the ground. Here's my character, I hope its okay if I just jump in.
Eceil Sangellous (force sensitive mercenary/retired soldier) He’s a Human in his late forties, with smatterings of grey hair and what had once been a very muscular build. He’s has some past with the Jedi and had thirty years of service to the military but he keeps both parts of his history to himself. He’s a heavy alcoholic now and has a cynical and mistrusting personality. Uses blaster rifle, blaster pistol, and a favorite knife. LEVEL 4! Athleticism 4 Speechcraft 3 Physical Occupational Skills 5 Mental Occupational Skills 5 Melee Combat Skills 5 Ranged Combat Skills 13 Force Skills 2 Language: Basic Heath: 80 Force Points: 40 [ 05-26-2005, 06:41 PM: Message edited by: jolleyjester ] |
Very well, then sir...feel free to read the Roleplay Thread and join in---I haven't written anyone out yet...your character will simply be a person who hasn't spoken yet. Consider him to have had the same experiences as the rest so far.
Oh, and add on his health and Force points...you can edit your posts by clicking the link at the top of the post box ;) [ 03-24-2005, 02:45 PM: Message edited by: Ilander ] |
Opps, sorry.
|
Mostly to encourage those who have expressed interest to go ahead and post your characters, as per the rules on the first page, and the template there (at the bottom). Again, no one has been written out yet! You can join right in, and just say that you've been silent so far.

Keal Sadana
Young Jedi/Force Sensetive Keal is an 18 year old jedi, who uses dual blue lightsabers. He was born a poor boy and found himself homeless at age 5. Then a man named Master Sanada taught him the way of the jedi, and from then on he has been affiliated with the battle between the light and darkside. Athletisism 7 Speechcraft 2 Physical 7 Mental 4 Melee 9 Ranged 1 Force 6 Health=105 Force=90 [ 04-27-2005, 10:02 PM: Message edited by: Keal ] |
OCC: Good to see you joining. Your health and force stats are off, though. Mine started around 16/10.
|
Your health is 35, your Force Points are at 30. Besides that, good to have you aboard, Keal!
|
oh, i thought the formula is the starting stat times 5 times the current points of the stat
like for health i did 7x5x7 and force 6x5x6 and the force points are for when you use the force right? [ 04-03-2005, 07:04 PM: Message edited by: Keal ] |
The formula for starting health is the athletics statistic times the CHARACTER LEVEL times five. In your case, it would be 7x1x5 or 35.
Force Points are the same; Force skill rating times Character Level times 5, or in your case, 6x1x5 or 30. Force points are the fuel for the Force. If you use a Force ability, you use a set amount of Force Points. |
ohhhh
|
Edit your health and Force points, Keal ;)
|
oh, so now they're (35-14= 21)21/35 right, and the force points are 30/30
