Recap of the situation:
Kirun and Terias are standing in front of three doors. Turin and Robyn are in the house they just bought. Therlion and Roland are speaking behind a house. [ 06-19-2004, 03:22 PM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
"I do not know yet. Most likely in the forest, in a secluded area. I spent the last three days walking around the town, and I haven't found a single place where an Elf and a band of newcomers that sold him can avoid raising suspicion." Therlion continued "And as you said, I must go now. I will inform you when and where our next meeting will take place." He turned and walked around a few more houses before he entered the street. He was walking towards Harmeth's home, with several ideas playing out in his mind.

Kirūn
Kirūn toss down like a sack of bricks the tied and gagged guard he had over one shoulder. Putting one foot on his chest, and leaning on his battle-ax he viewed the situation. "Do either of you have any ideas before I bring the whole garrison down on our heads while bustin down these two side doors? He puckered his mouth and chewed ferociously on his whiskers for a moment. Turning back to the elf, And what in the blazing Forges of Huldiz did ye be wanting about this stinkin level, Terias? Kirūn stepped off the sprawed captive and strode along all three doors again, slowly, looking over them thoughtfully. He pointed at the middle door with the butt of his ax handle. The center one seems a lil too inviting I reckon. It being unlocked an all. Oronuin, I don't suppose ye'd know anything about these upper levels? I'd rather use the doors than have to dig me a tunnel through the walls." He glanced back at his captive. "Or we might jest wake our lil feller up and give him a good dose of questionin. Of course if he squeaks too loudly, I'll be quietin him permanently. What say ye?" OOC: I opted to take the prisoner for now, since you allowed me. |
Oronuin
"I never left the dungeons after my capture, except for the times when we were taken to the pit fights. I heard the guards speaking amongst themselves that the highest level was off limit to them even, but apart from that nothing. I also seem to recall a conversation involving two human guards that the highest level is not accesible by this staircase, but I am not particularly sure about that. I suggest we try the door ahead of us and if what we find there doesn't suit us I am sure you can break through one of the other doors rather fast with a few axe strokes." -------------------- Arandor Arandor swiftly walked down the steps and reached the lower level. There he immediately noticed the dead guards and the marks on them where they had been hit by Kirun's axe. Any human would have had trouble breathing amidst the thick smoke here, but Arandor was not human. Hardly even noticing the heat and the smoke he walked through the open portcullis and started walking towards the fire. Standing about 4 meters from where the fire was burning right now he began chanting in a strange language and waved his hands in a pattern specific to the spell he was using. If there had been anyone in the chamber with him, they would have felt an intense cold starting to spread. But as no one else was there the only visible effect of the spell was that the flames started moving back. After repeating the spell a few more times the flames were totally extinguished. A new batch of guards had also arrived. Arandor ordered them to take up positions at the gate, while he went to check on the prisoners. Most of them were dead from inhaling too much smoke. He called out to some of the guards who moved away the still living prisoners towards the exit, where the smoke was already starting to clear. They did not however enter any cell, before Arandor cheched them. And Arandor found two cells, which were empty. Prisoners had escaped then. That and the fact that two hostile dwarves were also on the loose in the stronghold would surely make his master furious. He decided he would try catching them alone. A guard walked up to him: "We have caught one of the dwarves on level five. They have taken him to the northern sector." "Very well. Search every corner on level five. They probably took a room there too. See if they left anything there. In the meantime tell everyone to be on the alert for a man, an elf and a dwarf. It seems to me that the other dwarf came here and made two prisoners escape." ---------------------- Feldorn The group of freed slaves which Feldorn led had now grown to about four dozen slaves, half of whom were armed with weapons taken from their dead guards. However they now faced a problem. At the highest level of the tunnels, just where the stronghold itself started around one hundred guards were stationed at all times and after scouting out the area they found that only twenty of them had gone to fight the fire. They had to find a way to get through them. After debating for several minutes with others in his group Feldorn's plan was accepted. The now free slaves moved to set up traps in several places and in the meantime one of the human slaves put on the armour and garments of a fallen guard and prepared to lure the remaining guards into the trap. |
Robyn
Robyn was happy that at last she and Turin had been left alone for a few minutes. She wanted to talk with him about something. The past few days since she had joined the group she had been watching him much more than the others. She thought she managed to catch glimpses of a caring man under the cover of the warrior. And for the first time in her life Robyn felt attracted to a man. She had been in love before, but that was only teenage love and it did not last long. She had always been looking for the "one". She sighed barely audibly and stood up from the chair where she was sitting. She walked over to Turin, who was still at the window watching the house behind which Roland and Therlion had gone to talk. Robyn gently touched Turin's shoulder to attract his attention, then almost instinctively Robyn's hands also slid down Turin's back, as she felt the muscles under the shirt. Robyn quickly caught herself and removed her hand. "Can we talk about something?" |
" I agree with Oronuin, let us go through the open door, then we can continue through the others if we dont find what we are looking for through the door"
|
Turin
He had not even heard the creeping woman as she came up behind him and her words made him startle a bit, which drew a smile from both of them. "Of course, Robyn. What ails you?" Turin stepped from the window, just so his back was not to it (safety issue) and stood straight, trying to keep his posture in check. |
Robyn
Robyn looked in Turin's eyes for a long moment before speaking. She also needed to decide what to say. "You have beautiful eyes.... Wait! That's not what I meant to say. I mean I think that you have beautiful eyes, but its not what I meant to say. Now I'm repeating myself. I must look stupid to you, but I've managed to confuse myself. Sorry." She looked at Turin and awaited what his reaction was going to be. [ 06-21-2004, 05:38 PM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
Turin
Turin could feel his face flush as he was listening to Robyn trying to justify her slip, and only then as she was trying to cover up her accidental confession did Turin realize that as Captain of this crew, he'd pushed aside any feelings that he could have had for this attractive lady that accompanied him on this mission, possibly to the death of them all. Now that she had broken that barrier and made things a bit awkward, Turin saw no reason to fight the temptation any longer. He knew that Roland was outside with the elf, so with one deep breath of resolution, he leaned over faster than the stuttering lady could react against and met her lips with his with the longing passion that had been bottled up for as long as his wife had been passed away. It was as desperate as it was gentle, and as warm and embracing as bathing in a hot spring pool. OOC>>>I'll stop there and let Robyn react as I am sure she will to some degree. |
Robyn
At first when Turin kissed her, she nearly withdrew because of the suddenness and the surprise of it. But then she moved along with Turin prolonging the moment. When their lips finally seperated Robyn sighed. She closed her eyes for a moment and relived the kiss. Then without another word she put her arms around Turin's back and kissed him again. |
Oronuin
After the agreement to try the middle door was reached Oronuin stepped forward and went through it first. As Kirun and Terias went in after him this is what they could see: You are at the edge of a large chamber, about 150 feet in diameter. The chamber is filled with nude dead bodies of humans and elves in various states of decay. Marks of torture can be seen on most of them and from their expressions it can be seen that they died painful deaths. On the far side of the chamber there is a door, but to get there you shall have to climb over the pile of bodies |
The guard looked out the small window in the door to see Therlion waiting outside. He opened the door and asked "Yes, what do you want here?"
"I am here to see Harmeth, we are to have a tutoring class." Therlion replied. Looking behind the elf, the guard said "She is not here. Out riding. She will be back by nightfall. Come then." and he closed the door. [i]"Alright then, oaf." Therlion thought as he ponded on the door once more. A shout could be heard from inside "What now" and this time the guard only opened the small window and sticked his head out of it. "Is her brother Kalam here?" "What do you want him now?" the guard asked in a suspicious way. "It is none of your business, is he here?" The guard started closing the window, but Therlion interrupted him "But if you must know, he wanted to see me. To talk to me about my tutorage with her sister. Could I see him?" |
Roland started walking back to the house. And set his hand on the door knob, he twisted it and was going to open it when something caught his eye. An advertisement of a blacksmith's shop. Well I always did need to sharpen the dulling edge of my blade. Through the streets he went, he looked this and there at the shops. He put his hand on his purse. He had been saving his gold before he joined up with Turin and Robyn. And it was past time he put it to good use.
OOC: What I will purchase will be my reward dplax. Edit: Why is the font black for some reason? Answer: Because there was a space between light and green, where there should not have been. [ 06-23-2004, 08:27 AM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
OOC: Sythe pm me with what you want to buy.
For Therlion: "Actually he himself came here to ask me to tell you that he wants to see you. He said he shall go to the house you stay in sometime this afternoon." Edited for font color. [ 06-24-2004, 09:21 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
"Thank you for the information." Therlion replied sarcastically, turned and left.
He opened the door of his home and looked around to see if Kalam was already here. I will wait then. Shouldn't be long. |
Kalam Easthome
Kalam came two hours later to see Therlion. "I came to see you for a reason, but I was also told that you wanted to see me. Why?" |
"My friends came back and I have yet to relay to them all that has happened since they left." Therlion sat in a chair and motioned for Kalam to do the same. "I wanted to ask you if you know of a place where we could talk in private, without even being seen going in there, as they are the ones who sold me and that would raise suspicions. And I also wanted to ask if you could then inform them of the meeting, for the same reasons."
|
OOC>>>I am back from the mountains and need to get back into gaming mode. How's this just to set up the stage?
Turin When the doorknob began to turn, Turin quickly straightened up and backed away from Robyn, turning away from her and toward the window as nothing had occurred. A moment of terrible silence and stillness passed before they both realized that nobody was coming in the door. That is when Turin realized that he had not taken a breath in a long time and that his face was flush with heat. He heard his heart pounding madly against his chest, and tried to calm down. What had just occurred? [ 06-26-2004, 11:53 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
Kalam Easthome
Kalam sat down and thought for a long moment. "Let me think...their house and your house will most certainly be surveyed to a certain extent by my father's men. Hmmm... You can easily move out for the tutorage lessons with my sister, but I don' see a good reason for which Turin and his two companions should go there. I can easily meet anyone so I could relay messages if nothing else is found as a better solution. Can you think of anything I didn't think about?" ------------------------ Robyn After they seperated and became sure that no one was coming through the door Robyn stood motionless for several minutes, just looking at Turin. She then walked next to him and put her hand on his back. "Tell me I didn't dream what had just happened!" ---------------------- For Sythe: As Sythe stepped into the shop called Redegond's Supplies two men just shook hands and one of then walked out of the shop carrying a sword wrapped into some cloth. The other man looked at Sythe and a smile spread over his face. He was a short fat man, with a beard which reached his chest. "I am Redegond. How may I help you? We have swords, maces, flails and all other types of weapons. You can also find any type of armor here. Make your pick." [ 06-27-2004, 04:13 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
OOC: Waiting for posts from everyone...
|
"I had that idea too, but that might be a problem. My other plan was for the meetings to take place in the woods, but that isn't practical as it would take a while..."Therlion's expression changes with an indication of another thought "Is there anything happening in town soon? A fair, tournament or something of that sort, that would allow us to move unsuspected? Most of the citizens of the town would be distracted by the event, and the guards would have to be set up so we would have the best chance of having a safe meeting."
|
Kalam Easthome
"Nothing like that soon, the next would be for the new year, but that comes in two months time. It is the wrong time of the year for fairs. It shall soon be winter." "I have an idea however. You could give the lessons to my sister in one of the rooms of the tavern and during this time we could have our meetings. What do you think?" [ 07-01-2004, 04:10 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
Turin:
Turin's face was flush with red, and he felt swimmy-headed. He did not know what to say about what had happened, except that it had certainly not been a dream. "I...er...that is...I...well...you..." Turin clears his throat and steadies his nerves... "What I am trying to say...is...it has been a long time since I have felt this way...and...I...am...glad you share this...feeling...I..." Turin had not been this nervous since he had proposed to his former wife, and he needed fresh air. "Excuse me...I must...er...see to Therlion and Roland!" Turin bolted for the door and exited the home. Once outside, he took a deep breath to calm his nerves and tried to get his mind back on the task of a dangerous city at hand. |
Robyn
"Wait!"-she said, but Turin had already left the room. Robyn went over to the window and watched him walk out of her sight. She sighed. She thought of how the whole situation had played out. Apart from her blunder it had all gone well and she could only be satisfied with the outcome. She thought for a moment of going after Turin, but then decided that she would look over the house and try to make it a bit more homely. |
"Hello Redegond I only wish to give away my studded leather and some gold in exchange for chainmail armor." He unsheathes his bastard sword. "I desire you take this blade for I fear it is slowly getting dull. I want it as sharp as the day my father first held this steel in his hands. Also I wish to borrow a shortblade that I will return when my sharpened blade is ready." Roland hands Redegond a pretty heavy bag of gold.
|
For Roland:
"I can give you the chainmail now. But I shall have to work some time on the blade come back for it tomorrow. Let me make you an offer for the price. Since you are a first time customer I shall give you a reduction that you don't have to pay for the sharpening of the sword. And I'll exchange that studded leather for the chainmail for a bargain price of 400 gold. Is that acceptable?" |
"It seems we have to yet explore more before trying the other doors in the room behind us. Though, it looks very inhumane to cross over dead bodies to that door, we have to do what we must to escape from this death in this burning prison"

For Terias and Kirun:
You cross the room over the bodies of the fallen. Here and there you see the dead clutch various weapons and some of them even have armor on them. (OOC: if you want you can grab some of it) Oronuin stooped down at one of the bodies and picked up a short sword from it. The door on the other side of the chamber opens easily. On the other side of it there is a long passageway with doors on either side. The passageway is about forty meters long and there are five doors on each side. There is also a door at the other end of the passageway. |
OOC: Until the end of august I am going to be visiting a friend in France, who doesn't have an internet connection, so I don't know how often I'll be able to get on the internet. At most once or twice a week in internet cafés.
I'll ask Larry to dm in my place for this time, if he accepts. I'll send him a pm. |
OOC: Sorry about not having my normal color, but I don't have my cheating post setup file handy, with all the geek-speak code, on this computer. So I'm using bold.
Kirun Advancing warily, in the lead, Kirun passes as stealithly as a dwarf can, through the hall keeping a sharp eye on the closed side doors. Coming up to it, he hefts his axe in one hand. Resting a hand against it softly and an ear to the rough hardwood planking, he holds his breath and listens for sounds of anything beyond. OOC2: I will open the door if nothing is heard so my group may continue without an extra post from myself. |
Since Terias didnt have any weapon in handy, he stoops down and grabs a long sword and a Leather Armor. Then he continues on following Kirun towards the door.
|
For Roland:
The deal is made, and the smith promises to have your sword resharpened by tomorrow. You are free to take the items you have asked for in exchange for the price that was previously mentioned. As you say your goodbyes to the man, Turin walked into the shop. Your move. ================================================= For Kirun, Terias, and Oronuin: Kirun listens at the door for sounds of trouble on the other end. He hears nothing to attest to trouble on th other end. Just then, voices could be heard from behind you. Oronuin: "Quick! Drop down to the floor!" Oronuin thn proceeds to hide under a rotting corpse to escape detection as the guards are moving about the area, searching for the escapees. ================================================= For Therlion: Deciding that they would use the tutoring sessions as a way to meet up in secret, Kalem gets up to leave the elf's home. OOC>>>Now that this is settled, I could have Kalem go and tell Turin's group about the meeting place without risking anything. Is this acceptable? ================================================= [ 07-06-2004, 11:01 AM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
Hearing Kirun's warning, Terias drops back down with the corpses to avoid being detected.
|
"Well hello Turin I just came by here to get some equipment." Roland lowers his voice "I will be at the house and tell you what he told me." Roland leaves the shop and returns to the house.

Turin
Turin was glad that he was being accompanied back to the house with Roland, for he was a bit shy concerning what had occurred a few minutes ago. The two of them entered the home and sat down, motioning Robyn over to them so that she also could hear what had happened concerning the elf. ================================================== For the trio laying in dead bodies... After a few moments, after the guards had peeked in to make sure nobody was in this room except the dead that inhabited the area, they had turned and shut the door behind them, locking it. Oronuin sttod up and dusted himself off, looking to the dwarf: "Master dwarf...may we continue our journey through the next door?" For Kirśn: As previously mentioned, you have no reason to doubt that the next door is safe to open. Post as you see fit. |
OOC: just checking in from an internet café. Keep up the good roleplaying!
For Larry: It is ok for Kalam to do that. [ 07-10-2004, 10:54 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
Kirūn
Grumbling and cursing under his breath, Kirūn extracted himself from the pile of stinking corpses he had thrown himself in with to evade detection. Standing, he moved resolutely towards the nearby door he had hitherto been standing at prior to the guards approaching. He opened it and passed through and stood to the side waiting for the others. |
For Kirun's trio.
As you pass into the next room, closing the door behind you, you find yourself in a liong stretch of hallway. There are voices up ahead, and they do not sound too happy. There is a turn in the hall, about 30 feet up...and you see light pouring off of the wall from around that left turn. There sounds to be two voices, and they seem to be human with thick accents. Oronuin whispers: "Sounds like just two of them. Think we can sneak up and take them by surprise?" |
" We are four and they are two, i would assume that we could take down both of them by surprise."
|
"Therlion is a tutor for the lord's daugter. And he rescued her from an assassination attempt and gained the Lord's trust. And someone in our entire party almost jepordized the mission. This person told who we were serving and our true intent. This would have reached Easthome but fortunately it was delivered unto friendly hands. Therlion was not real specfic on who this ally is however. And that he would inform us of another meeting most likely in a secluded place." Littlestone explained to both Turin and Robyn.
