Thread two of our out-of-character conversations is open.

Refer to this thread for the original work, and specifically this link for the last page of the old thread.

Here is more information on my post about rewards and XP allowances.

Some of you have not responded yet, so I will post it again here, for your convenience.

I just realized that I can improve this game by incorporating a rewards system.

I plan to give XP to those that assist in completing certain criteria, working around traps, and fighting monsters.

I also plan to have updgraded armor, weapons, and other items available to you.

Please send me a list of all armor, weapons, and other misc. stuff you have that can be updgraded and I will set that into my game. Also for spell users, new spell slots will be opened to you upon gaining levels. This will be the first time I have attempted to DM a game where I did this, so I will be following a simplified version of rewards giving that I invent depending on what I feel is good.

All gifts and levels that are earned in this game can be used by the same character in any future games I run on this forum if you use the same character.

TAO and Arcades: I know you two are not exactly following a rule-base that I am accustomed to, and you seem to have all the luxeries that you could want, while everyone else are mid-level at best. Please indicate to me how I might include you two in the rewards system, based on any needs you may have or desire. Take note that because you two are playing more powerful beings and not of the D&D genre in which I know, I will not be as loose to reward you as I will the others that do not have as much to begin with.

What does everyone think about this ???

Larry_OHF 05-21-2004 04:35 PM

Here is my rewards system, that seems to be appropriate for me to use effetively. I plan to use an XP reward system based from 1-10, depending on difficulty of task. When a total of 10 is achieved, DM will grant limited requests. PM the game master to make a request once a score of 10 has been earned. Everybody keep up with what I give you. I might not do as well as you. if you want the prize, you gotta take the responsibility away from me.

================================================== ============================

Previous Rewards now being honored

Tao and Arcades:
1. Defeating the cloud. Prize granted was silver to be used in spells or for money.
2. Defeating Render. Battle was incomplete. Killing him would have released his three tortured souls.

=================================================

Vincent: Disarming necklace trap. XP rewarded = 3.

=================================================

Andrion: Defeating the Lamia. XP = 5.

=================================================

Roderik: For entertaining posts, interesting rhymes, funny stories, and keeping the action hot...DM rewards you XP = 5.

I reward good work, and hope this shows everyone that I am hoping to see more. Though now that I have said it, it will be more difficult to impress me. Work hard!

Rewards eh? *Thinks of something he's want.*

Hmm.....

Hmm.......

How about cupcakes and brownies? *L*

Just kidding. The style of RP me and Tao are accustomed to are pretty freeflowing, so we might have to adjust that to compensate for the rewards.

Larry_OHF 05-21-2004 08:44 PM

How about telling me which style you two are accustomed to so that I can learn its rules. I have a friend that has studied all styles of gaming and can give me help. I can learn how to combine what you want with what everybody else on this game expects of me, which is to make a really good rule set for everyone to play on equal ground, even if that means altering D&D a little to conform for us. That would be the only fair thing to do. Of course, I allowed you guys in with some of the looseness that Cyril allowed, but he was very rule oriented in his gaming and had clear plans and strategies. I do not have his expert abilities on gaming, so I am having to compensate by relying alot on all the players to give me some help with fairness. Right now, everyone is probably wondering why I allow you so much freedom and not them. I'll have a mutiny on my hands soon if I am not careful!

By the way, Andrion...why is nobody checking the body of the dead for anything of value?

Elif Godson 05-21-2004 08:55 PM

hey Larry, which room ?

by the by I have company coming into town this weekend so my posting will be dificult

Larry_OHF 05-21-2004 09:03 PM

No problem if you find it a bit difficult to post much. I will stay busy with something else in the meantime.

The room I am referring to is the one above us, the first floor of this cavern.

In my last post by Larry, in aqua color, on page five, I refer to us climbing up a rope out of the room we found the necklace in, and back to the room above. You ae climbing ahead of me, and we are halfway up this rope.

Andrion has still just recuperated from the battle and has not even thought about checking the body. But he is starting to get the idea. :D

Larry_OHF 05-21-2004 10:11 PM

I already have a nice item for you whenever you want to claim it. Just mention in the post that you check the body for stuff, and I'll hand you a new toy, unless I forget about it by the time you post!

dplax 05-21-2004 10:19 PM

Edited my last post to show that Andrion checks the carcass.

ArcadesSabboth 05-21-2004 11:35 PM

The way we RP was completely on the fly, based out of chatrooms that didnt have any kind of system. There's no real way to categorize it to my knowledge, but maybe Tao can help when she gets back.

Larry_OHF 05-27-2004 01:19 PM

Hehe...this is so fun. I have Roderik so suspicious that he will examine every rock in the first cave before moving! Lol!

Hey...have any of you read the Harper's series called the Crypt of the shadow king and the curse of the shadow mage? Well...I am currently reading them and they have alot of things I can use to reference from. It is a wonderful source of information!

I have previously read the Return of the Archwizards, who are the remaining mages of shadow from the times of Netheril.

Man...with all this knowledge at my disposal...you guys are really gonna be sorry you ever wanted to make a stand against the Mad Mage of IW!

Morgeruat 05-27-2004 01:27 PM

I have not, I have the first book in the Harpers series, but aside from salvatore and a few short stories anthologies (and lots of game accessories) I haven't read all that much about FR (at least as far as fiction goes)

Who said we were going to make a stand, "He who stands against an avalanche is carried away and lost under the fury of the falling ice."

Elif Godson 05-27-2004 06:57 PM

"Those who spit in the wind, usually get wet face"

TAOWolf 05-27-2004 07:34 PM

"Man who live in glass house, should dress in basement!"

:D sorry, couldn't help myself :D

Larry_OHF 05-28-2004 10:47 AM

I'll give you a hint Andrion...try talking to the dead, and maybe they can be of some use...

Skydracgrrl 05-30-2004 12:44 PM

Hey everyone,

I would just like to let you know that I have finally gotten my computer to sort of let me access the internet. There was a virus of sorts that was eating up 97-99% of the CPU, so my computer was near crashing just being on, let alone access the internet. Got that problem worked out, so I can finally participate again!

If someone could catch me up with Liam and Lyulfe, that'd be great And, uh, if they were "finished off," because I've been away for so long, I understand :/

Here is what you have so far.

Liam: Since he was not present for the fight that Tao and Arcades had in the forest, nor the trouble that Larry and Vincent had underground, then let's say that Liam was playing the part of a scout, going on ahead Northward, and circling back to come back from the South to make sure that nobody was coming in either direction. He is back now, with a report that a strange being cast a spell on two humans and two animals and they vanished from sight. The being was that of a dark shadow-like essence.

Lyulfe: He and Mistral's character were abducted by a evil flying creature and taken to it's nest for consumption by the hatchlings. There is chance that the two of you can escape when Mistral has the time ton attempt it with you. Else I can do something else to satisfy the delimna.

Skydracgrrl 05-30-2004 07:50 PM

Thanx Larry. Has Mistral been gone when I was having computer trouble? If she still hasn't been on recently, could we have her character be unconscious and just have Lyulfe deal with her until Mistral gets back?

EDIT- oh, one more question. ;) How's Rhianneth getting along? I had a cat tailing her, and she's another of Mistral's characters so... I'm guessing she's inactive as well?

[ 05-30-2004, 07:57 PM: Message edited by: Skydracgrrl ]

Larry_OHF 05-30-2004 09:16 PM

Mistral is unable to keep a constant check on the forums these days for work and other duties and only comes in when I warn her ahead of time and set something up for her in advance. Do not count on her characters as active at this time. What I can do is have something separate your characters from her's so that she would still be in the game, but not tied in with your character, and on her own free will she can post them out of harm's way in her own time frame.

Skydracgrrl 05-30-2004 11:35 PM

oki-doki The cat tailling Rhianneth doesn't have to be active, I just wanted to make sure I knew what was going on

RoSs_bg2_rox 05-31-2004 02:09 PM

And somehow I'm able to walk straight lines! :D If I could stand, that is, heheh. ^^ (I have issues walking in straight lines... if I was ever pulled over and made to take that test, I'd fail -.-)

dplax 06-04-2004 09:32 AM

Thanks for converting Larry, but actually I have now known for years that a mile is about 1.6 kilometers and that 10 feet are about 3 meters. And now I'll just leave a chance for someone else from the group to post.

Larry_OHF 06-04-2004 10:58 PM

dplax...pm'ed you door description. The description is taylored to your knowledge.

Larry_OHF 06-05-2004 10:19 AM

RoSs_bg2_rox 06-08-2004 11:57 AM

there isnt much to post at the moment for the Candle team, we just need to know what happens with Andirion

dplax 06-09-2004 03:05 AM

Ross: He's called Andrion. Without the i after the d.

RoSs_bg2_rox 06-09-2004 07:56 AM

ok, lol, sorry about that, I have done that for so long!

Larry_OHF 06-09-2004 08:09 AM

In the next few posts, some people will be playing out scenes that although you as players will witness...your characters will not have knowledge of unless the proper saves and rolls and that sort of thing are made.

Please do not let your player knowledge show up in your character, as we are playing for fun and it will be no fun if you attempt to ruin the suspense and mystery that the game is trying to incorporate.

One or two people have submitted moves that I have approved of, since they are in alignment with what I am wanting the game to lead to. If ANYONE makes a move that is contradictory to the scheme of the game, I will stop him or her without upsetting the progression of the game.

Thanks for your understanding.

Now enjoy!
