OK, I'm checking to see if there's any interestin in a World of Darkness RP, Everyone would be starting out with newbie characters, ie werewolves fresh from their first change, newly embraced vampires, monster hunters who have just discovered their calling, etc (I will allow most white wolf clans/tribes/fera except Rokea (weresharks), and Mages (sorcerors are ok, and would start with a little more power than the others due to their powre being more limited overall)

I will provide background info on the World of Darkness as needed (or provide links to it) (when in doubt check out www.white-wolf.com )

The game will allow:

Werewolves (including werecats, rats, ravens, coyote's, bears, alligators-more like dragons, spiders, snakes-(will need strong justification), or werefoxes(asian Kitsune shifters) or Kinfolk

Vampires, from all of the normal clans I don't really want to deal with Garlgoyles but the rest are ok.

Hunters, normal humans who have realised that monsters are real and that someone needs to stand up for humanity or they'll continue to be ruled by monsters.

Sorcerors, Humans who have tapped into mystical power of one kind or another, use anything from voodoo rituals to faerie magicks, or faith based magick.

I don't have the sourcebooks for Demons or Faeries, and due to their nature they wouldn't work well in a chronicle about the other creatures.

Hmm, it'd be fun, but sorry - too busy working on my own game. Perhaps another time. I barely have time for Dragon Revived as it is.

Fair enough, character sheets are fairly easy to find, on most gaming sites that let you download character sheets, and I'll write up a long post for each group, but the very basics are the 9 stats, then skills, etc.

universal info. stat's range from 1-5 in all abilities, 2 being average human, where-as 5 would be world class (someone with s 5 str would be considered around the same level as an olympic weightlifter) a few exceptions apply like Nosferatu vampires have a 0 appearance and it cannot be improved.

Attributes: the 9 physical, social, and mental abilities

strength, dex, stamina = physical fairly standard universal stats

Charisma, Manipulation, Appearance = Social (charisma/manipulation of 3 or higher would be executives or con-men, appearance of 3+ is the realm of models, although it isn't required, just an example of the level of beauty)

Perception, Intelligence, Wits = mental, Perception is how aware of your surroundings you are, intelligence speaks for itself, and wits is the ability to think on your feet.

Characters decide which of the 3 sets of attributes is most important, second most important, and least important to them.

<Font color="CCCCCC">Vampires</font> and <font color="yellow">Werewolves</font> get 7 points for their primary attribute to distribute among the three stats, 5 points for secondary stats, and 3 points for their least important stat. The points may be arranged in any order and you start with one point in each(with few exceptions).

<font color="CCCCCC">Vampires divide themselves into clans, there are Tremere(mages and students of the occult), Brujah (rebels and some of the more violent vampires, typically look like biker punks), Gangrell (loners and naturalists), Malkavians (insane), Nosferatu (information gatherers and butt fugly), Ventrue (ruling elite of vampires, at least they believe so), Toreador (artists).

These clans make up what is known as the Camarilla (they believe vampires should remain hidden from humans, founded in the middle ages to counter the inquisition which was eliminating vampires right and left, eventually convinced humanity that vampires never existed)

On the other side of the coin is the sabbat, who believe that vampires rule by right of their superiority, they tend to be violently insane (as opposed to malkavians who are generally percieved as harmless pranksters), and their main drive in life is to overthrow the more powerful elders to save themselves from Gehenna (end of the world when the clan founders wake up and eat all their children), they have a few representatives of the other clans, but main members are Lasombra (IIRC Spanish versions of the ventrue), Ravnos (gyspies and thieves), Giovanni (a clan of necromancers that only Embrace members of the Giovanni clan, mafia of the vampire world), Tzimisce (mad scientists, use vicissitude to alter organic things, their chairs are usually servants who annoyed them, same with flowerpots, or practically anything you can imagine)

Independents: Setites (subtle underworld leaders, subtlety is key) Assimites (assassins of the vampire world) Caitiff (vampires who have declared themselves independent of their clans)</font>

I'de like to join but I have a question with the character sheets. does my character get 1 point in each of the stats on top of either 7, 5, &3 to distribute one to either physical, mental, or social? so for instance
str-1 + 2= 3
dex- 1 + 1=2
stam- 1 + 2=3

that would be using my 5 so i'de have either 7 or 3 to distribute to the other classes depending on how I wanted to develope my character? I was thinking of being a giovanni vampire. [img]graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

Werewolves are the holy warriors of Gaia, they believe in 3 forces of nature that are at work in everything, the Wyld, or raw creation, the Weaver stasis, gives stability to creation, and the Wyrm, or entropy, the force that eventually destroys everything so that the wyld can renew the cycle.

somewhere along the way the Weaver went mad, she was tired of the Wyrm destroying her work, and so entrapped the Wyrm in her webs. As the wyrm struggled to free itself it too went mad and resolved itself to it's fate, it began corrupting everything it could, since it could not fulfill it's purpose in it's ordaned way it would use it's immortal agents to seduce and corrupt the world and all within it, so far it has been very successful.

Most natural creatures, and untouched wilderness areas are havens of the Wyld where the Garou (what the werewolves call themselves) prefer to live. The battle the decay of the Wyrm wherever they see it and have 5 castes based on the moon, as well as three breeds.

the 5 Castes/Auspices are based on the phases of the moon, those born under the full moon are the warriors, the Ahroun; those born under the nearly-full moon are Galliards, the bards and lorekeepers of the werewolves. The Halfmoons are the Philodox, judges and wisemen of the werewolves. next are the priests and spiritualists, the Theurges born under a crescent moon, they excel at speaking with spirits better even than the philodox. Born under the New Moon are the last but not least the Ragabash, tricksters, thieves and vagabonds

the next group is Breeds, Lupus or those born as wolves, Homid, or those born human, and Metis, the deformed creatures that are a product of two werewolves mating, they are shunned and reviled by werewolf society as visual reminders of a violation of one of their most holy laws.

There are 13 tribes (once there were 16)

The Black Furies - An all female tribe of (originally)Greek descent
Bone Gnawers - City werewolves, they live among the homeless and trash of the cities, tend to be vary knowledgeable.
Children of Gaia - peacemakers of the werewolves, "Can't we all just get along"
Fianna - Werewolves from the British Isles, warriors, poets, and knowedgeable in the ways of the fae folk
Get of Fenris Viking werewolves, from Northern Europe they are a very proud, loud, and boisterous people (don't get along well with the Furies)
Glass Walkers - City Werewolves, unlike the Bone Gnawers they are the wealthy and powerful, many even rivalling established vampires in power and influence
Red Talons - All Wolf clan, made up entirely of lupus werewolves they have no tolerance for Glass Walkers or Bone Gnawers specifically, or homid werewolves in general
Shadow Lords Eastern European Werewolves, not the ruling tribe but they want to be, and use every trick they can think of to manipulate their way to the top
Silver Fangs - traditional rulers of the Garou, they tend to tie themselves to the nobility of local rulers, although madness has begun claiming the tribe.
Silent Striders Werewolves from ancient Egypt, forced to flee and never able to rest in their ancient homeland. also tend to attract ghosts
Stargazers - the most introspective of he werewolves, they seek mastery of their rage and are great philosophers, invented a martial art that takes advantage of the 5 forms werewolves can take.
Uktena - A tribe of mystics, they search the spiritworld for secrets and guard the resting places of great evil spirits that have been bested by the garou.
Wendigo - the second native american tribe (the other is the Uktena), they are bitter about the ravages of their native land by the european garou in the 16th-19th centuries, they are proud warriors similar to the Get of Fenris.

the lost tribes are the Croatan, who died to a man destroying a powerful avatar of the Wyrm known as Eater of Souls at Roanoke VA

the Bunyip, a tribe of Garou from Australia who were killed by the other tribes during the war of shame.

and finally the White Howlers, seduced and corrupted by the Wyrm this tribe is no longer a friend to Gaia and the Wyld, but a foul servant of the Wyrm (not available for PC's) now known as Black Spiral Dancers or BSD's.

there are some statistics that are determined by your choice for tribe/auspice/breed and these will be given based on your choices and character concept.

Werewolves also tend to dislike vampires as they are wyrmtainted, as well as being unnatural (dead things should stay dead)

I don't think any DM could promise that here, that is beyond their control sometimes, sometimes people just stop posting, but I know I will try my best to not jsut abandon it. Vampires are sweet.

sounds good I have to check up on their specific clan abilities/weaknesses, you can feel secure that should anything... unfortunate happen to you your clan will avenge you, just don't get too ambitious too fast ;) but that idea works for any vampire clan.

Based on the background you pm to me I'll assign additional skills (firearms, athletics, science knowledge, etc, depending on the age of the sire for vampires you may have some added benefits, but the bonuses will be measured to make the playing field (relatively)fair for everyone)


I would advase against anyone playing the more militant werewolves (Get of Fenris, Black Furies, Fianna, Red Talons) as they would be more likely to kill vampires on sight (or smell for that matter), and it would make it hard to progress very far without everyone needing new characters constanly.

One more note, the setting will be semi-modern, ie 5 years in the past, most major world events will have happened, but ones that haven't happened may or may not happen, at least in teh way you are familiar with them.

When I get a few more characters, I've got 3 so far, since two of them are vampires I'll probably start the story in that direction and begin the moondoggies in another thread that will eventually merge.

{edit} since that really didn't answer the question I'll set up skills and knowledges hopefully this weekend and then we'll have an idea of what each person is capable of.

I had been attacked that night by being dragged from my car when I had stopped at a stop sign on that dark road that was to lead me home from my friend's house where we had been practicing our band numbers for the upcoming talent show at Church that weekend. The dark robed figure had pulled me out of the car and had dragged me for a ways into the woods close by. I tried to fight back but it seemed not to effect my assailant in the least. Finally, after being dragged out of sight from the road, the attacker had turned on me and clamped down on my neck, biting a gash and began to drink my blood from my body. I quickly became disoriented and felt very sleepy. I tried to reach up and pull the head away from me but my arms had no strength. I felt with my fingertips the silky black hair that hung in my face and tickled my nose. Then the attacker rose up from me and grinned an awful grin with a blood-soaked mouth. My attacker was but a young woman! She looked on me in a strange way, as though she had not seen me but just now, and kneeled beside me. She whispered into my ear strange words in a foreign accent, then said in a broken English that she was going to give me the gift she had been given long ago. She again assaulted my neck and drained more from me, and just as I began to fade away, I felt wetness upon my lips. I hungrily drank this refreshment as I was very parched, and my body ached to be made whole again. She again whispered to me, told me to stay away from the sun and told me never to seek my family or friends or they would all be killed. She asked if I understood and I tried to nod, but could not feel my head if it moved or not.

I awoke later that night. The sky seemed brighter than it had ever been. I was scared and sick. I felt like vomiting, but never could. I was cold. I was aware of many things that night that I do not need to go into now. As I sit here, writing this into my journal that I decided to keep of my story, I find that it has been one week since this has happened to me. I hide in the daytime wherever I can. At night, I try to find things like rabbits or squirrels to feed on. It is disgusting and makes me sick to do so, but I must, because I am so hungry, and the blood makes the pain go away and also makes me feel more at ease. I am afraid of what I might do to others. People I mean. I cannot attack and kill a person! Those people have families that love them!

I wish I could see my family. I miss them so much, but every once in a while, I feel that I am being watched. I feel that what the lady said was true...that if I go back, I will be bringing death to them all. I avoid the newspapers and TV because I do not want to see or hear of their pain for my unexplained loss. It would drive me crazy.

So...I sit here. Wondering what I am supposed to do now. Wondering where others are like me, and what do they do all night, or where do they sleep at day. How did they become what they are. Things like that.

Well, the sun is to be rising in little under an hour. I am too afraid to wait around too late, because I have a feeling what would happen to me if I did. Maybe I should embrace the sun. Maybe that is the only right thing to do...but I cannot. I am afraid of the pain I suppose.

hehe humans are fine, but for building points you only get 6/4/3 (instead of the 7/5/3 for your 9 stats). You will be compensated by more abilities, you just lose out on the initial stat jump the supernaturals get.

I've also talked to an old friend from my time in Kuwait, and he's interested in playing a vamp, I've got the main details ready to go, it's just some of the finer points of the character sheets that I need to finish up. I'll start up a thread for the vampires and one for the werewolves, Mystral, you can insert yourself into the vampire one when you feel you're ready, and when I've seen your character and background.

not sure hun how you want to fit her in. she is a warrior mainly attacking those entering her jungle. lately she has had to spend more and more time away as the people are coming from farther and farther. she delights that they have given her terrifying story. those surviving her attacks have told of a horrible large cat monster that attacks lumber companies in their camps. she has followed their caravans of trucks and taken many victims this way. hunters have come looking for her, but she has taken to human form in close villages during the times she feels she may not survive. she never liked humans cutting down her home, but her mass violence only started when companies began burning large parts to clear for a road. for invasion! now none get her mercy, and she is willing to go to any lengths to stop it.

If they'res any way I can still join the vampy's I will Since I have a few of their traits [img]tongue.gif[/img] like being alergic to silver and pale skinned and stuff. I'll have my Character up tommorow around 3-4 p.m. eastern time.
