That's right you roleplaying ingrates, the originals are back. The one that started it all. BASK IN ITS GLORY! Bow your foolish little heads! Or...
Or we'll throw soggy pop-tarts at you! A'ight ya'll. I realize we haven't been here it *quite* a while. Don't worry, I'm trying to give you a bit more detail than usual on your location and what the Hell you were up to. If you find yourself lost and confused, blame Deiter. And as always, if something else goes wrong and you can't find anybody to blame, blame Larry. Tee hee hee... Let's see here though. Obviously "The One-Eyed Wolf" is an ancient game and is not going to be taking on any spontaneous new members. Just the way it is folks. If you really, absolutely, just hafta hafta get into this game... I'm sorry, you're screwed. Heh heh... All right, maybe somebody'll take pity on you, but I wouldn't count on it. We're a bunch of mean, nasty, evil people here at the OEW. I don't know why you'd want to play anyway. We bite! Rarrr!
SO... The people of the OEW last time I checked were...
Chani is currently in her home village of Ravenwood. She got 'abducted' from the tavern about 4 days ago by her brother Arrakis. She fled to the graveyard as soon as she got there, where she met the ghosts of her deceased family, and got some wonderful and frightening visions from the spirit of Cyrus. She's currently still located in the graveyard of Ravenwood. Deiter is currently in the One-Eyed Wolf. Chani had been acting sickly earlier that day, and he'd sent her off to rest, and was taking care of the tavern by himself. He then found himself leapt upon by Past, who distracted him while Arrakis went through the window to abduct Chani. He's yet to discover that his love is gone, but her broken necklace on the floor might give a hint. Larry & Mistral had been hanging around the Silverfall manor. After each of them had recieved a series of frightening and/or confusing visions, they decided to head back into the city and visit the tavern. Sephi has been blissfully lazy for the past few days/weeks, staying at the tavern with his wife and helping Deiter and Chani out here and there. Neb & Kaz are confusing poor Spree. ;) Kaz had temporarily quit, and I suppose Neb had gradually shuffled out too. ~Shrugs~ They were last seen at the tavern. |
Sephi was lounging around in the chair, leaning back with his feet on the table. His wife, however, had been gone for most of the day and hadn't told him where he was, and this worried him. She had been spending an awful lot of time away from him recently, sometimes days at a time, and she seemed to hold out her harsh 's' sounds longer than usual. He actually had to grab his ears whenever she said 'mouths'! So instead of being suspicious he had decided to place a dispel illusion trap on the door for her...

OOC>>> SOOO.... it's finally back :D But I think Larry and myself were at the island which we won from the lich Ah well ~ Shrugs ~ Let's just take it too much a paradise can get nauseating and they decided to head for the manor after a while
IC>>> She stares out of the window in a pensive pose, not quite noticing her beloved hawk hovering outside. Neither does she hear the footsteps creeping behind her... "Eek!" ~ She jolts up as the pair of hands grasp her shoulders tightly, then relaxes as she hears the familiar chuckle ~ "Larry Silverfall! Whatever do you mean by scaring the life out of me?!" Turning around, she pouts at him sulkily. "Heh! Don't be angry, Mistral." ~ He reaches to twirl the lock of her raven hair that he so loves ~ "It only means my stealth ability is improving and you should be glad for me." ~ To silence her, he hugs her closely, pressing her head gently against his shoulder. ~ "Isn't life good?" "I don't know, Larry... it doesn't seem right. We're safe here, I guess... but after those visions..." ~ She shivers in his arms, then tilts her head to gaze at his brilliant green eyes ~ "Do you think we ought to visit Spree and Deiter?" ~ Swallows a gulp ~ "Not that I'm particularly keen to see them... but... they might be able to help solve our mysteries." Larry watches his wife's uncertainty and sighs inwardly. Come, let's go." Without futher ado, they have called up the coach and brought their belongings as well as their beloved companions with them, on the long ride back to the city... [ 07-19-2002, 09:34 PM: Message edited by: mistral4543 ] |
Deiter stood behind the bar counter cleaning up some spilled ale. Days were starting to turn a little grim... Chani was sick with something and it bothered him that he didn't know what. As he started to pour up some ale the tavern door opened. The lights in the tavern grew brighter as a moon elf walked in. A nutty grin was on the elf's face as he took a seat at the bar.
Deiter walked over towards him. "What can I do for you?" The elfs grin grew bigger. "You could get this old elf some strong ale." As the ranger went to get the ale the old elf started to hum. Deiter turned around startled at the sound. "Know that song do ya sonny?" The half-elf sat the mug down, "Who are you?" The moon elf's green eyes twinkled."Why I'm your past...but you can just call me Jas." How does he know that song? My mother used to sing that to me... He shoved the thoughts away as he left the bar heading for Chani's room. As he started to open the door he knew something was wrong. The bed was empty and the window was hanging open. "What the?" He walked over towards the window looking out into the city. "What happened?!" Deiter said aloud to himself as he backed away from the window. There was a crunch noise as he backed up. Laying on the floor was Chani's necklace. He bent down and picked it up. His thumb rubbed the surface of it for a few seconds. With his thoughts in place, he clasped the necklace then barged down stairs. Jas looked over from the bar to Deiter. "Whoa young one. What is it?" The half-elf showed him the necklace. Jas nodded in understandment. "You must wait, your friends are coming. And you can't just leave the tavern. Have that Seph fellow watch it." "You're right..." Deiter went back upstairs jamming stuff into his backpack. Jas stood there frowning. His grin gone as he got the tavern set up to be looked after. "That boy is too much like his father..." ooc: :D ;) :D |
The visions faded, and the ghosts fled back to their dusty tombs. Chani shook her head, feeling slightly weak and dazed by her close encounter with the supernatural. Something had interrupted the visions though, and she was puzzled as to what it was. She turned around, and saw an old friend watching her. Locke Foresthide. His deep brown eyes were quizzical and concerned. Apparently he hadn't seen the ghosts. "Chani? Are you all right?"
|
As they hop off the carriage, Chaos bounds forward and leaps - in his rather grown size - at Deiter, licking him in a playful sign of recognition.
Mistral and Larry smile, watching the two reunit. |
Deiter smiles as Chaos starts to lick his face. The wolf finally backs off wagging his tail. He looks over at Larry and Mistral. "It's good to see the two of you. Its been a while" As the words leave his mouth, footsteps come up from behind. Jas stands there with his nutty grin once again. "So when are we leaveing?" Deiter eyes the old moon elf. "We?" Jas laughs then rubs his hands together in delight. "You didn't think I was going to let the three of you go off by yourselves? Trust me...having a old guy in the group helps." The moon elf laughs again as he goes to get horses for the four of them.

Sephi went out the bar after them. "Hey!" he shouted. "Can I come too? I'm getting bored out of my mind here!"
|
Deiter turns to look at Seph. "Aye, you can come." The four stand there waiting for Jas. Jas gets to the horse stalls and starts to pick out horses. "Gah! What are you boys feading them? They look like their turing into undead farm animals!" The stable boy started to stuttered. "I..we...it's..." Jas smiles and bends down so he's eye level with the boy. "It's all right youngster..here." The moon elf quickly brings his hand towards the boys ear then back to him. A glowing orb shines from his palm. "Here you are, something to show off to your friends eh?" The boy smiled as he runs off to show the other stable boy. Picking out five horses, he leads them back to the tavern. "Off we go."
|
Sephi slung his equipment on the horse's back, then took a seat upon it. He gripped the reigns tightly and sat up straight, waiting for one of the others to go on ahead.
|
Larry helps Mistral onto her horse, then swings himself onto his own with practised ease. Throwing Chaos a rather stern look, he shouts ~ "Guard the tavern well, buddy! I'm counting on ya!" ~ And heaves inwardly as the wolf reluctantly nods his head.
The beady-eyed hawk pauses in mid-flight, debating whether or not to stay with her good friend. At this, Mistral smiles and calls ~ "Keep him company, Isabeau! If I need you, I'll call you." ~ I can't bring you to danger... With that, the companions set off on their journey, galloping away frantically in search of their friend, the indomitable Spree. |
Deiter gets up on his horse and follows Jas. He didn't know how to get to Ravenwood and the old elf seemed to be the only one that did. After a few hours of riding, Deiter brought his horse up next to Jas's. "Who are you and don't tell me you're from my past." The old elf grinned slightly then nodded. "I'll just say we're relaited." Deiter thought this over as they rode on. First Chani disappears then this old elf shows up. This was turning out to be quiet a day.

She looked up at Locke and swallowed hard. "Y-yeah. Just uhm... Shaken up."
Locke's dark eyes were filled with concern for his friend. "I would guess it's a terrible shock to your system, just being dragged here..." She nodded and looked to her boots. "And I don't even know why I'm here." He bit his lower lip awkwardly. "I don't think anybody does. Shadowfall just rode straight in and half-killed Arrakis, saying you were in some sort of terrible danger." Her blue-grey eyes narrowed to snake-like slits as she looked at Locke. "Maverick's behind all of this?" She growled as a wolf and started in the direction of town. He sighed and stopped her with one arm. "Chani, c'mon. I understand, you've made yourself a life away from here and you're probably missing it terribly and this is in no way shape or form fair to you. But going and beating Maverick to a sodding pulp isn't going to get you out of here any faster." |
It was late into the night on their fourth day of traveling. Deiter turned to look at the rest of them. "We need to find a good spot to camp at." Jas nodded and pointed towards a clearing in the woods. Deiter tied the reigns of his horse to a tree as Jas started a fire. "We should make it to Ravenwood some time tomorrow." The old elf said as he poked the fire with a stick. Thoughts ran through Deiter's head as he sat down next to the fire. Why was Chani taken, and by who...? He shook his head slowly and layed his bedroll out. Laying down he looked up at the sky. Memories passed his mind of her. He smiled a little then pulled his cloak over him, falling into a troubled sleep.
Jas looked over at Deiter. "You'll see her again soon my boy..." The moon elf sat at the fire remembering when he was young. "That was many years ago..." he said softly with a rough grin. |
Chani'd been in Ravenwood for several days now, growing more and more lonely and depressed by the minute. None of her old friends could find anything to cheer her up. Right now she was sitting by the house she'd grown up in, skipping stones in the nearby pond idley. She missed her friends. She missed Deiter. She missed her tavern. She sighed and kept her face down as Arrakis approached again undoubtedly to cheer her up.
"Hey little one..." He sat down next to his sister. "You okay?" She eyed her brother with a forced weary expression. "Yes, brother, I'm fine." He bit his lower lip, gesturing in the direction he'd come to her. "Y'know, Li's been wondering about you. He uhm... Wanted you to come down to the winding mile with me n' Locke." She looked her brother straight in the eye. "The winding mile? Why?" She craned her neck and looked around, scanning the brush. "Locke! Get out here!" Locke emerged from the bushes with his hands up, grumbling. "Damnit all, how do you do that Chani?!" He grinned good naturedly and stooped down in front of her. "Li's been all edgy about his grandaughter coming in from Moonlast. The gal doesn't have any family left but him, so she's stuck in this little knothole until he think she's up to leaving. He wants 'er to make some friends well she's around, so figured better have you around to keep me n' Arrakis outta trouble." Chani looked uncertain. "Er... Well... Locke shrugged. "Aw c'mon girl! It's better then sitting around here moping, eh? I mean, Chani... If anybody can sympathize with you right now it's me n' Arrakis. But gimme a break, is it gonna do you any good to just sit here and howl at the moon?" So the three of them set off to the mouth of the winding mile, where the rangers spent much of their time. There they met Li and his grandaughter Lynae. Locke's jaw dropped immediately as he saw Lynae. He'd heard she was a very pretty girl, but not like this! He looked over at Arrakis and saw him staring as well. Lynae looked to her grandfather, then to the three rangers, then back to Li again. She was quietly twiddling her thumbs, apparently rather edgy. Her eyes, as bright a green as Li's and as wide as a doe's, were focused on something distant. Distracting herself, she reached back and adjusted the long, elegant copper braid her hair was in. She then looked to Li as he introduced her. Li cleared his throat. "Lynae." He gestured to each of the rangers in turn. "This is Arrakis Ravenwood, his sister Chani Ravenwood, and..." He smirked at his favorite student. "The idiot on the end with the dazed grin is Locke Foresthide." Locke's face flushed deep red as he clamped his jaw shut and looked at his boots. Lynae offered them all a reclusive smile. "It's nice to meet you all." Chani smiled, finding she liked Lynae already. They were akin in some manner at least, feeling rather alone. Maybe they could become friends. She looked at Locke, smirked, and flicked his tapered ear. "Stop staring Locke!" Two more days passed and Chani and Lynae had indeed become good friends, spending a lot of time at the Ravenwood home just talking and skipping stones. Arrakis and more often Locke popped in occasionally too, but for now the two girls were alone. "So Chani, tell me more of this Deiter..." |
ooc: I've gone into the color posting trend! Beware! :D
The next morning the group starts out again. Deiter looks over at Jas after a few hours of riding. "How much farther until we reach Ravenwood?" The half-elf searches the moon elfs eyes. He still didn't understand why he had let this old elf come. "We're almost there young one. Don't worry, it's not going any where." Jas grinned to himself as the village started to come into view. "Well would you look at that?" The old elf grinned over at Deiter then laughed. Some people in the distance start to come towards the group. "Well don't that beat all? They sent out some people to welcome us." Jas continued to grin as the people came closer. "Or maybe not." [ 07-20-2002, 04:50 PM: Message edited by: Deiter Leafblade ] |
Making their way toward Deiter and the group was no party of men or elves, but the band of Ravenwood's finest guards. The green warders. Created by the two Cloakthought Baelnorns, this band of eight was a formidable force. Green warders were like tall humanoid creatures made of leaves and branches, able to camoflague perfectly within the forest if they so chose. But now they made themselves apparent, crowding around the party in a circle. The tallest of them spoke aloud in elvish. "You must wait. The way is not free. Wait for the masters to see you. Then you may pass."
|
Deiter nodds to the warders. "We'll wait for your masters to come."
Jas looks over at the warders and grins. "Now where was that flame spell at...?" The warders eyed the moon elf. "Gah! I'm kidding! You guys need to lighten up or something!" At the word lighten up the warders glare at the elf. Jas then starts to crack up laughing. Deiter groans as he moves his horse away from Jas's. |

Larry - Will you get back here so I don't get laughed at for being too girly over your character?! IC>>> So these are the fabled lands of Ravenwood... ~ And she begins to tremble, visions of bloodstreams running in her mind. Her eyes dart about nervously, half expecting her father to appear with that fiendish smile, urging her to revenge him and her mother. Subconsciously, she clenches Larry's hand in a death grip her own turning icy with fear. |
While he understands Mistral's worries and squeezes her hand reassuringly in turn, he cannot help but marvel at the beauty of the woods ~ This is another paradise for rangers! ~ Standing there waiting for things to happen was not his cup of tea, but what choice was there? After all, Spree was with the other side now and he did not know if Deiter was known to all these elvenfolk.
With nothing else to do, he decided to practise smirking so that he would do Spree proud when they finally met ;) |

The warders surrounding the party suddenly turned and formed two lines, the largest of them bowing low in an elven fashion. A puzzled looking elven man and a younger elven boy was rushing toward the party.
Locke held up his hand, motioning for his little brother to stop in his tracks. He filed between the two lines of warders, eyeing the party with a confused and protective expression. He looked at them all, his eyes catching on each of them. He inhaled sharply, his dark brown eyes widening. He hissed back to his brother. "Shaw, run! Get Arihel! HURRY!" The boy gulped, eyeing the party, then dashed off back through the woods, as his brother instructed. Shaw dashed to the Ravenwood house, where Chani and Lynae were chatting peacefully. Out of breath, he gasped to the girls. "Miss Chani!! Locke sent me to get you! At the gate...!" Chani looked at Lynae puzzedly, then got up, pointing Shaw to the house. "Go get yourself a drink." She then tugged on Lynae's arm. "Let's go!" The two of them made their way fleetly through the woodland town in the direction of the gate. Locke then hissed a password at the warders. "Rad'raebael!" The creatures nodded in unison, then shuffled off. Locke exhaled, then looked to the party with a smirk. "Welcome to Ravenwood." He exhaled, then looked at Jas with a smirk. "Do I know you?" |
Sephi was glad that those warders had been called off, but still hated having to wait where he was. He adjusted himself in the saddle and stretched, popping his neck and wrists as he moved. Then he sighed, thinking that any more time waiting would be too long. But he'd do what he had to, since he didn't want anything to kill him just yet.

Deiter was silent as he watched the warders walk away. Never bring Jas near these guys again... He looked over at the two figuers coming from the village hoping one was Chani.
Jas grinned as the warders walked away. "Next time I'll bring torches!" He laughed then looked over at Locke. "You seem familiar my boy...ever been to Waterdeep?" [ 07-22-2002, 04:10 PM: Message edited by: Deiter Leafblade ] |
Locke nodded at Jas. "Passed through there once..." He was then aware of the tension surrounding him. "Everybody please dismount and follow me. The gate's just a bit ahead." The ranger waited for you all to dismount before leading you to a giant wooden archway, covered in carvings and some sort of thorned vine. You could see two figures running off in the distance from here, but Locke first had to open the gate and let you all through.
|
The elven rogue quickly got off his horse and stretched his whole body, making his legs tingle. Then he walked off, staying separate from the group but still within ten feet of them, as he waited for the gate to be opened. For the short time it took he paced and twiddled his thumbs at the same time.
|
Jas nodded. "You must of been the one that pissed that bartender off...." The old elf laughed again as they followed Locke. "Wow...nice gate you guys have here." He looked at the wooden archway and grinned.
|
Locke cackled at Jas, fiddling with the lock on the gate. "Hey, I warned him!" The creaky gate swung open, revealing the sylvan village. Small wooden homes nestled between the trunks of trees, nature nearly completely undisturbed by the presese of the elves. Locke clucked his tongue and laughed. "Here come the girls!" He motioned you all through the gate, closing it behind you.
When Chani saw who was at the gate she was more than overjoyed. A broad smile on her face, she ran as fast as her legs could carry her. She ran past the rest of the puzzled village, flying to her destination wildly as a gust of wind. She leapt at Deiter from three feet away, tackling him with enough unintentional force to knock him flat on his back. She didn't care whether he fell over or not though, as she was too busy kissing him. ( ;) You pimp... ) Lynae watched with a quiet smile as her fried reunited with her love. She tried to stay inconspicuous though, backing more towards the trees. |
Sephi wasn't too occupied with watching Chani and Deiter reunited; in fact, he couldn't care less. He was just glad to be off that god-forsaken horse and doing something! Then he saw the pretty elven lass standing back next to a tree, and went to stand next to her. "Strange day, isn't it?" he asked, trying to make casual conversation.
|
Deiter turned in time to catch Chani. He was almost knocked back when she jumped on him. Smiling, he wrapped his arms around her and started to kiss her like he was never going to see her again.
Jas grinned at the two half-elves. "Awwww...and me without my freeze time spell..." The old elf looked over at the other girl and gave her a friendly smile. "Nothing has changed here I see." Jas said to himself as he looked back at the village. [ 07-23-2002, 04:40 AM: Message edited by: Deiter Leafblade ] |
