Stumbling through the deep fog, slipping on the smooth surface beneath him, Khalist tried to figure out where he was.

He stopped, he looked, he listened, he could see nothing because of the fog, except that it seemed to be a little less dense over to his right. He COULD hear something though, distant sounds, close sounds, distants sounds of people crying out, whether in fear, in pain or calling out to someone else he could not tell. Close sounds of footsteps, of breathing.

Khalist turned around to face the close sounds and walked ahead, determined to find out if there were others here, in the fog....

(OOC: Any characters who join at this point will be lost in the Fog like Khalist, they may come from the Forgotten Realms, from Krynn, from Ravenloft, from almost anywhere, but now they're here, and they're lost.

Magical powers are weakened in the Fog and prayers go unheard, psionics will find themselves unable to concentrate enough to use their powers and fighters will find their swordarms weak if they try to fight.

Create your characters, have them meet each other and/or Khalist, in a short while the fog will lift and you will find yourselves.... Somewhere else....

This place has it's own gods and it's own rules, you MIGHT discover them over time.

EDIT: Almost forgot, Khalist is a human, a ninja-ish sort of person dressed entirely in black, he's armed with his martial arts as well as some shurikens and throwing daggers.)

What!? For The Sake Of Ilmater Where Am I!? HELLO!? ~ Hmmm... Where Am I?? HELLO!?

No Answer. Why Was It Me? Why Did I Have To Come Out Here Tonight? Honestly. *Derikan Mumbled A Incantaion Trying To Cast Clarvoyance*
*In His Mind He Began To See A Vauge Picture Of His Surroundings, But It Wasn't Clear. He Saw A Cave Somewhere To The North. Then The Image Was Lost. Damn This Fog! I Cant Concentrate. Walking Off Into The Distance He Sung A Song Which His Father Had Taught Him A Long Time Ago. It Was A Song About The Fall Of The Elven Fortress In The Dale Up North. One Of His Favourite Songs.*

OOC>>> Derikan Is A Human Bard From The Slums Of Trademeet, Although He And His Father Left When Derikan Was Only About 14 Years Old. They Set Off To The City Of Baldur's Gate, Hoping To Make Their Fortune As A Father And Son Musical Duo, But One Night When Walking Home From The Elfsong Taven, Derikans Farther Was Murdered By Brigands. Derikan Hid Behind A Barrel And Saw The Whole Event, Weeping Silently. Since Then He Homed His Magical Skills Hoping To Maybe One Day Find The Ones Who Did This, Or Even Maybe Find His Mother, Whom He Hadn't Seen In Decades.

Jerome 02-23-2002 07:59 AM

Rogal did not see what tripped him, the fog was all-enveloping and drained the energy from his limbs and seeped through his thin robes, chilling him to the bone. His staff clattered to the ground a few feet in front of him, and Rogal groped uselessly for a few moments before giving up and curling into a small ball on the ground. His powers were drained - and he needed to rest. A half-lucid sleepd came to him, and as he drifted away he only hoped that the fog would have lifted when he awoke.

(OOC: Roagal is a Conjurer in his mid-30's. For most of his life he lived in the ourtskirts of Athkalata, in a small village with his wife. The villagers were not happy with his presence however, and burned his abode, killed his wife and made him an outcast. He has been wandering for the four years that have follwed this, scarred by his experiences and only searching for a place to call his home.)

*Derikan Found The Cave, And Stumbled Inside, However, The Stench Was Unbearable, And Somthing Obviously Lived In It's Depths. He Retreated Out And Back Into The Fog. After A While, He Had An Idea. He Casted A Powerful Version Of Vocalize, And Although The Fog Had Drained His Powers, They Had Not Gone Entirely. After Completion, He Shouted Out At The Top Of His Voice: I'M HERE!!. Hoping Someone Would Here, He Collapsed, And Fell Into A Dreamless Sleep*

Neb 02-23-2002 08:21 AM

Khalist went in the direction the singing voice he heard and soon after he tripped over a human bard, a brief examination showed that he was asleep.

Khalist grabbed hold of the human's wrists and dragged him in the direction where the fog seemed less dense, as he did so he tripped for the second time, this time it was over what appeared to be a mage's staff.

A few seconds of searching revealed a sleeping mage nearby, Khalist let go of the bard and sat down besides the two, waiting for the fog to lift.

As he waited he saw a small figure approaching through the fog, when it got closer he saw that it was a halfling.

(OOC: The Fog lifts enough for us to make our escape in my next post, perhaps you two snoring people should wake up and introduce yourselves? )

Beaumanoir 02-23-2002 08:32 AM

*Derikan Heard A Voice Speaking, And Awoke With A Jolt, Sitting Upright Suddenly. After Gaining His Composure, A Human Became Focused Infront Of Him.*

"Who Are You?? Hmmm, i Suppose You Were Caught In This Death-Fog Too Eh? Well, Allow Me To Introduce Myself, After All, We're All In Both In The Same Boat Eh?"

*Derikan Gave A Short Laugh*

"I Am Derikan, Musician And Mage"

*Derikan Explained Who He Was To The Fighter Above Him (OOC>>>Much Like The Description In My First Post) And Then Stumbled To His Feet*

"So Who Are You May I Ask??"

*He Then Glanced Down On The Floor At The Mage*

"And Who Is Our Unconcious Friend??"

Lioness 02-23-2002 11:22 AM

Sheria cursed as she fumbled for one of the daggers at her waist. She didn't even seem to have the strength to lift it, and she had no idea where she was. Grimacing as she stumbled in the fog, Sheria suddenly heard sounds of voices ahead. Shaking her head, she made her way toward them, arguing with herself. "Hearing things, now, am I? Bloody fog..."

OOC: Sharra is a 19 year old silvan elf, and a fighter/rogue. She grew up in trademeet, living on the streets and making her own way. Along the way, she became an adequate blade-mistress and stealther. She has many knives secreted about her body, both for melee and throwing. She had been on the run from a Trademeet merchant, who wants her head after a misunderstanding witha nother group of theives.

Tiamat 02-23-2002 11:42 AM

Tiamat, as he is used to the darkness, culd almost see, but he culdnt as the fog was too thick for him. He senses that the 'shatters' wuld work for a short time as the fog will 'regenerate'. The shade knew that he wuld cause unbalance, and he transformed into a gnoll fighter that hails from a camp of various diffrent monsters (a raiding group of goblins, hobgoblins, orcs, ogres and other gnolls) and has a medium shield, chain mail, and a +2 sword of ice. His name is still Tiamat.

[ 02-23-2002: Message edited by: Tiamat ]</p>

Neb 02-23-2002 11:42 AM

Suddenly, the fog began to thin and off to one side the group could see trees, grabbing the still-sleeping mage and dragging him with them they headed in the direction of the trees.

(OOC: Sheria saw them and followed them I assume.)

As they exit the fog they can see a dismal landscape before them, a small valley filled with gnarled and twisted black leaf-less trees.

The ground is moist and soft, yet nothing grows there, it seems to be covered with black ash. Surroundoing the valley is what appears to be a solid wall of fog, nothing can be seen through it.

On the opposite side of the valley from where the group is they can see what appears to be a man-made structure, though it is unclear what kind of structure it is.

Khalist turns around and looks at the others, "Does anyone know this place?(OOC: Noone does.) I think we should head towards that place over there," Khalist points towards the structure, "There seems to be nothing else in this dismal place and I'm not going into the fog again."

Tiamat 02-23-2002 11:47 AM

They see a smoke ring, realizing its a camp, they check it out with blade ready....... they see me, at my camp and cooking sum meat. The party asks: Excuse me gnoll, have you know the way of this place?

(OOC: Sorry, Tiamat, the party does what they post that they do, they do NOT do what YOU post that they do.

Actually, if they meet a Gnoll I think they'll kill it before asking it questions.)

Sheria nodded uncertainly. "Anything's better than this bloody fog" she muttered, clasping a dagger as much to reassure herself she could as to let the others know she could handle one. Following the black-clothed fighter, they made their way toward the structure.

SSJ4Sephiroth 02-23-2002 11:57 AM

Mui stumbled, then got back up. He looked around at his dark surroundings, trying to get his bearings. The stalker didn't know where he was, nor did he care. Cautiously he drew his longsword and sought out the nearest sound of footsteps. When he found the source, he found a young female elf, about 20 years old. "Friend or foe?" he introduced himself with all caution.

OOC: Mui is a half-elven stalker from the city of Athkatla. He used the many shadows there to hide from many who would prey on him, and on the few occasions he was found his skill with a longsword helped him incredibly much.

(I'd love to participate more, but i'll have to catch up later. have some RL engagements i must attend to now, mostly for band. c ya!)

Tiamat 02-23-2002 11:57 AM

Tiamat walks with the party, sniffing the air as he goes by..... he shoots 10 ft ahead, and dives into the bushes. He sprawls out of the bushes, turns his hed sharply, and listens for anything coming or going. For you see, Tiamat has been raised like a ranger, hes always on the look out for food, drink and stuff.

Neb sees the Gnoll and cries out, "Gnoll! Kill it! It might be a scout for a larger party!" With a flick of his wrist he sends three shurikens flying towards the creature.

(OOC: Sorry Tiamat, Gnolls aren't well-liked.)

Sir ReGiN 02-23-2002 12:01 PM

Urion was feeling very tired, the fog had drained him off all his strength, and this made him even more grumpy than he usually was.
He ran to stand in front of Neb and yelled, *Well mister-whoever you are! Who made you the leader of this group?! At least I would like to know the name of a man who may be leading me into a sure death!*
He fingers his shortsword he wears in his belt..

"Ah, my name is Mui, of Athkatla. There's no need for us to be foes, so I believe that, by default, we would be friends then." He sheathed his longsword and stood at ease.

OOC: guys, i really do need to go now :S. see ya!

Neb 02-23-2002 12:05 PM

Khalist turns to face Urion, "Noone made me the leader of this group, halfling, and my name is Khalist, if you think that someone else should lead, or have a better suggestion as to where we should go, say so."

Tiamat 02-23-2002 12:07 PM

Tiamat blocks them all with his ice sword prowess, and sez: Im one of you! Why is it so hard for u to notice that! Im a powerful ally as my group that im a part of is very powerful. I dont know how far up the ranks go, but i suspect a demon is the leader. For we are just a rogue incampment, and our leader rarely ever shows its face. I can transform into my regular shade self to bypass the undead, and I can also use my shatters against evry thing else shuld my gnoll form fail.

Neb 02-23-2002 12:09 PM

Khalist whispers to everyone except the Gnoll: "This critter is obviously insane, I think we should kill it before it can do anything."

Silently he prepares to throw yet another handful of shurikens at the Gnoll.

(OOC: Nice munchkinny blocking of my attack Tiamat.)

Tiamat 02-23-2002 12:13 PM

I just blocked it with a fiting prowess! god, im trying to play like a regular gy here! Tiamat lets the shurikens hit him. He is wounded, and for the good of the story he decapitates himself. Are We Happy Now?

Psssst! You should see the Yorick vs Larry thread :D

And if this is still open to newcomers...

Karzheik stepped carefully through the dense fog, and called out, be there anyone else here?
Fingering his dwarven axe's blade, he felt his arms go numb and disjointed, it seemed trying to defend himself wouldn't work all too well, he had to be on his guard.
'By Clangeddin's beard, there must be some other people in this accursed place, I don't even have a clue where I damn well am.'

Neb 02-23-2002 12:21 PM

(OOC: I have no problem with you being in the story, but a "regular guy" can't shapeshift, and so far you're the only one to have started with a magical item, so that makes you a bit too strong compared to the others.

Plus, being a Gnoll = Being attacked by most creatures, and who the hell is going to believe a gnoll(Which are almost always evil as well as rather stupid) rambling on about how he's one of them and how he's involved demons and other crap?

Next, did your character come in with the Fog? In that case he probably won't be going home and so anything that's happened there or who he knows there won't have much effect.

Is he from this place? Then I think you should know that this valley is not somewhere that living things go.)

(OOC: They're ghouls, there are five of them in the clearing and another 5 hidden in the trees surrounding it.)

OOC:You're right, with everyone being everywhere, it probably is confusing, so....

IC: After a long while of stumbling around aimlessly and muttering various curses, Karzheik tripped and almost fell flat on his rotund dwarven gut, but narrowly avoided tripping even more on his own beard by rushing forward, consequently landing into a pack of people.
