I have some Problems with my CreativeLabs 3D Blaster TNT2 Ultra in Direct 3D mode.
Whenever I enter a shop and click on 'Buy' the game starts to run very sluggish even the music interrupts and the items for sale are displayed incorrectly. I have a PIII 550, 128Meg Ram, WinME and I have installed the latest Drivers. Has anybody experienced the same problem and knows a way how to solve this problem ? |
Are you using the Nvidia drivers?
|
haha same problem excatly..ive spoken to activision and they dont have anything better to say than...send me your dxdiag file..blah blha..no help...they say run in software..boy im glad i paid 60 bucks to play a gmae that looks like it should be on the sega saturn!
|
ive got the same prob..i have a 19 too and the game looks like crap...as i said befroe it looks like an old sega saturn game...i can run it in 640 d3d too but iwould like to at least run in 800..the mouse cursor freezes the game when i place it over objects in 800 and up
|
Try changing your display resolution to 640x480...It fixed all of my D3D problems...Good luck..
|
Ok with 640x480 resolution D3D works fine now. But it is no real solution to run this game in 640x480 on my 19' monitor.
TNT2U is a very common chipset so Activision should be able to solve this problem. I use the NVIDIA reference driver version 5.30 that is provided by my card manufacturer Creative. So are there any other tricks to get this game to run in 800x600 or 1024x768 without bugs ? |
Wow!..You have a 19' monitor!...Hmmm..I guess 640x480 resolution looks quite crappy on such a monster...Sorry can't help you..Unless...How about I give you my 15' in exchange for your 19'?..No?..Tough luck...

I had the same problem in the shops. Downloaded Nvidias newest ref drivers 5.22(?) and that problem went away.
However, video still locks up when placing cursor over items after game has been running for 15 minutes. When decreasing view distance slider bar, the time it took the game to freeze went to 20-25 minutes. ANy of you guys played Ultima IX from Origin? They had the same problems...Never did get them worked out completely, although they figured out they had a problem with Mip Mapping in hardware mode I believe... |
Hmm I use the newest ref drivers (5.30) but I will try to downgrade to 5.22 if necessary.
I have played Ultima IX and I have experienced no problems with my graphics card. |
Couldn't remember the ver# of newest ref drivers. Stay with newest.
You didnt' have ANY problems with Ultima IX???? When did you get it? After it had been out awhile or when it first hit the shelves? You are one of the few (and I mean FEW) that didn't have problems with Ult IX.... |
Oooops.....Newest Ref Drivers dated 9/27/2000 are
"NVIDIA Display Driver for Windows 9x version 4.12.01.0631,9/20/2000" Although the zip says : 631 which I assumed mean ver 6.31? |
On the W&W help pages it is clearly written "Wizards & Warriors™ does not support video or 3D card reference drivers".
So I installed the newest drivers of my card manufacturer and not the Nvidia reference drivers. However I will try the reference drivers now if they are different to mine. To Ultima IX: I use the German version of this game. It was already patched to version 1.06F on the installation CD so I didn't need other updates. It worked fine with my TNT2U card. |
I also have this problem...I have the Creative TNT2 M64 ....When I have been shopping or doing some inventory managment the graphics jumps to software( or something that looks that way)most of the graphics gets blurry.....I have the latest NVIDIA ref drivers 6.34 (that is the most current drivers)
|
With the Nvidia reference driver packet v6.31 everything works fine now.
Thankz to all that helped me. I did learn one thing: Always do exactly the opposite thing of what is written in the help files. @Junker on the Nvidia.com site the newest driver package is v6.31, I found no 6.34. Try any driver that is made for a TNT2 card, if its a reference driver or not, if its from your card manufacturer or from another company, probably you will find one that works. |
Ulpentulp:
You aren't getting any lockups when dragging your cursor over items? What are your graphic settings set to? And what is your desktop display settings? |
You know what is really sad?
The help file at Activision says for video lockups, it specifically addresses Diamonds v770 series: it says please use Diamonds Drivers instead of Ref Drivers to take care of the problem. Well, Diamond has not updated their drivers since Feb of this year for TNT2...can you believe that? And of course, I have a v770 ultra.... But hey, I am willing to try diamonds drivers if it gets me past the video lockups |
Hmm
I am also experiencing random lockups with the reference driver now. I will switch back to the old drivers, better some predictable bugs in the shops than having random lockups while playing. I don't know what do do now, TNT2 is the most common chipset around and especially this chipset should not work with W&W ?? I am switching to 640x480 and restart the game now when everytime I go shopping. This can't be true. Ok, any other hints how to solve the TNT2 probs ? |
I have a TNT2 card as well, running in 800x600...but fortunately I am not experiencing any problems with the game.
I'm currently running the latest Detonator Drivers. hope this helps. |
(grin)
ZARTAC: HOW is that supposed to HELP? HMM? You see, the majority of us with TNT2 cards are having problems then you come along and say "Hey look at me! I'm not having problems! Hope That Helps!" (paraphrased) That really struck me as funny |
