Mitro Jellywadder 11-29-2001 02:51 AM

Okay, I know I shouldn't have done it, but I couldn't resist the challenge. I could barely beat the gang with a whole party, so I had to see if my solo sorceress could do it. Much to my surprise, it was entirely too simple.

there is no way you rolled those ability score without cheats!

what was with the guy taking al your stuff?

Kingenigma 11-29-2001 03:15 AM

WOW!!! dude, u must be a lucky SOB to get tat sorta roll. I NEVER GET THAT KIND OF ROLL EVEN AFTER 6 HOURS OF ROLLING MY EYEBALLS OUT!!!boohoohoo...

Dreamer128 11-29-2001 04:21 AM

I rolled something similair, i did took me two and half hours however.

Dundee Slaytern 11-29-2001 04:27 AM

Nice job, Mitro. I see that you are wearing the Ring of Gaxx, heh, and you killed Viconia, heh.

Question though, why is it that you do not use your Quickspell slots?

250 11-29-2001 08:34 AM

heh, because he uses the "pause" bottom

Dundee Slaytern 11-29-2001 08:42 AM

But wouldn't it be less time consuming if you placed the spells you frequently use in the Quickspell slots? As opposed to clicking through several times? I use the autopause function too( pause when spell casted), but I still use the Quickspell slots for convenience.

250 11-29-2001 08:50 AM

I dont pause, and I gradually learnt to speed up casting without quickslot as well.

but generally when one uses pause, one tend to overlook quick slot :-P

Dundee Slaytern 11-29-2001 09:00 AM

Heh, the reason why I set the autopause is so that I can fully make use of Improved Alacrity.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. If I know a big battle is coming, I'll set them up. This gang took two tries. The first time, they ate through my half-used stoneskins and wasted me quickly. Reboot cast stoneskin, then I just needed 1 timestop, Improved Alacrity, six lower resistances and a bunch of misc. spells. I usually just have them set for Energy blades,Magic Missile or MMM. I used to have Melf's Acid in there until a minor mishap.
That used to be one of my screenshots. As a matter of fact, I think I'll put it back. Nice damage at least. :D

250 11-29-2001 09:33 AM

me play a party of six without pause

That is the beauty of BG2, it caters to those who want real-time and those who want turn-based.

Mitro Jellywadder 11-29-2001 09:48 AM

I only like turn-based when there is a lot of powerful enemies bunched together. I got used to that when I ran a party and no matter how many times you tried to get that healing potion down, someone always whacks you right before.

You realize by the time you're level 31, you'll have received several stat boosts similar to the Tomes in BG1 right? Perhaps that could be the reason? I highly doubt he "rolled up" a level 31 sorceress...

The self-righteous "thief" is an inbuilt game function to keep you from using your rightfully conquered equipment.

The Drunken Monkey 11-29-2001 10:48 AM

is there anyway of keeping the items "borrowed" from drizzts' corpse. Or does Melwhatever his name is always turn up and take them.

Just curious

Sir Degrader 11-29-2001 11:28 AM

"is there anyway of keeping the items "borrowed" from drizzts' corpse. Or does Melwhatever his name is always turn up and take them."

Put them on the ground and when she comes u won't have them
just a theory of course.

Of course not. The wizard will only show up IF you have the items with you.
There is no way to avoid this wizard, killing him doesn't work either, so you just cannot have the items. The only way to do it is to create similar custom items yourself or possibly messing with global variables.

Morgan_Corbesant 11-29-2001 12:12 PM

hell, polymorph yourself into a squirel, with those stats, you SHOULD be able to win anyway. do it with no cheats next time. ah, what am i saying, good job. everyone has built their god character. mine just happens to be a sorceror as well, lol.

Heh, you flatter me, I do have pride, especially with regards to my solo Cavalier. I do like to beat on my chest sometimes.

Stop putting down Mitro already, it is possible to get the stats he got, heck, it is almost similiar to what I got.

STR: 12
DEX: 18
CON: 17
INT: 18
WIS: 18
CHA: 12

Those are the stats I started with. After a 'few' quests, it is now,

STR: 12
DEX: 18
CON: 16
INT: 19
WIS: 20
CHA: 14

I could have added more during the course of the game, but I felt it was enough already.

Why thanks, Dundee and Kaleban. I just chose to ignore those that had nothing worthwhile to say, but I do appreciate the support. It's like say I'm six foot tall....no, you're not...yes, I am...no, you're not. :D

Fuzzy Animal 11-29-2001 01:08 PM

Power corrupts I tell you. I recently picked up my solo sorceress again and got up to 22 level and just learned Project Image. My alignment says chaotic good but I couldn't resist wiping out Brynnlaw after finishing the Asylum. I'm a bad boy!!

I know what you mean. All the poor NPC's that had anything smart to say, ended up toasted. As Dundee pointed out, poor Vickie. Jan met the same demise. As did the arogant Anomen. Hurry and sneak out of the underdark? I don't think so.

Wow, I'll try that. I NEVER use improved alarcrity. Dundee, you are indeed a fount of wisdom.

One of these days, I am going to explode from having an over-inflated ego. ;) Thanks for the compliment.

Kaleban 11-29-2001 03:54 PM

Oh, and for all you punks that slammed Mitro (those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, judge not lest ye be judged, etc., etc.) I once rolled up a Monk when I first got the game just to see what they played like. Here was the adjusted roll after I had put stuff where I wanted it:

Str: 18
Dex: 18
Con: 18
Int: 14
Wis: 18
Cha: 16

Needless to say, I was amazed, but promptly deleted him after going about halfway through Irenicus' dungeon. The dude was WAY to overpowered, and although it pained me to do so, I deleted him. They say absolute power corrupts absolutely, and for those who can only play with 18s in all attributes, you are really missing the point about a hero having a tragic flaw which is what makes him a hero.

Ex. Achilles' Heel is the most common, Hercules' relative gullibility (not the Disney or Fox version), et al.

You powermongers should try playing a game with a character on the FIRST roll regardless of what it is and see how it suits you. Often times, a weaker character pulls you into the game more, as they need to use the varied potions and other objects that an all 18s character never has to think about or touch.

Thrawn 11-29-2001 07:06 PM

i got a question for you ever tried to play a 3's stat mage/sorc? heh

its possiable :D on insane :D
