I am on a bit of a mission to get the best ac that I can. My elven F/T with a dex of 19 has the following equipment.
Red Dragon Scale Plate Helm of Balduran Sentinal +4 Ring of Gaxx Ring Prot +2 Cloak of Sewars Giving me an AC of -16 I need gloves/gauntlets,belt, boots or a weapon that affects AC without interfering with what I have on. Thanx for any help. |
Boots of Phazing give you a +2 AC bonus. Wield single weapon style and put two prof. points into that. Another +2 AC.
Cloak of Displacement might give you an AC bonus. I know it does against missile weapons. |
Are those items from ToB? I have never heard of them.
|
Cloak can be bought in Trademeet(??, *scratching head*- not sure), maybe it was belt of Inertial Barrier.
Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise give Thaco bonus, Boots od Speed are very handy - anyway boots can be changed during fight (dunno why? and armour not) Weapon - Drizzt has scimitar called Defender, it gives +2 or +3AC. ( and second one which is +5 if I am right) |
as far as i can remember, theres atually some armour better than the dragon armour, its full plate mail +4, although i cant remember where you get it from..sorry
|
oh, and ust thought i`d tell u,
the boots of phasing are actuall a cursed item, they make you phase out to a different enemy every round or so...pretty annoying |

I don't remember that. There is the Drow Full Plate +5 * and the Armor of the Hart +3, but I haven't seen Full Plate +4. Do you mean the Gorgon Plate +4 (which is plate mail, not full plate mail). I think the reason why he is using Dragon Scale armour is that you can wear a Ring of Protection +2 with it, as dragon armour is not considered magical equipment. However, I believe this is no longer possible if you have TOB installed. As for the AC-decreasing items, Lord Ludtke, what is your character's dexterity? If it's lower than 18, you can use the Gauntlets of Dexterity for an AC bonus. You can find them in the Athkatla Sewers, in the Ghoul Lord's town when you do the Unseeing Eye quest. * which you can only use outside of the Underdark if you kick someone out of your party when you're still underground and have him/her carry the armour outside. They will go straight to Athkatla and you will be able to use the Drow equipment as long as you don't enter the Underdark Exit area |

quote:
Originally posted by Lord Ludtke:

The Boots of Phasing are acquired during the Umar Hills quest.
quote:
Originally posted by Zbyszek: Weapon - Drizzt has scimitar called Defender, it gives +2 or +3AC. The Defender gives you a +2 to AC, but you do not get to keep his items.
quote:
Originally posted by Whichdctor: oh, and ust thought i`d tell u, the boots of phasing are actuall a cursed item, they make you phase out to a different enemy every round or so...pretty annoying

Why are they cursed? That is part of their design. It's to keep your enemies from surrounding you and bashing away. There is T'rahcie's Tainted Plate (Plate +5), but it is cursed. Armor class is -2, but your charisma is reduced by 5 and your constitution is reduced by 2. |

Its AC of -2 can also be reached by using Full Plate +2, for example the armour you can get when you cast Limited Wish (ask for a one-time wish, and then for a magical item of great power...make sure the wisdom of the caster is high enough) |

Thanks for correcting me man. :D ;) :D J/K...had to throw that in. |

RRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, that wasn't very ladylike, was it? :embarrassed: *throws a slipper in Mitro's direction, misses and goes off to sulk* |

Unless you're really confused. :D Feel free to pummell me about the head and neck. |
Urm... I have never seen these Boots of Phasing before... exactly where is its' location?
PS: Fullplate +2 = -1 AC, it is Fullplate +3 that gives -2 AC. |

I'm reserving that 2% in case it was the last one with my full party. It's listed in Shadowkeeper. It is also in the Vesus Books Perfect Guide. I know I've had them before, but I'm not 100% sure that's where you get them. I'm going by the cheat book. |
the staff of curing gives +2 ac, but it's only a +1 weapon...
|
Thanks, guys and gals :D , I will try all the combinations.
|
I don't have the boots of phazing or cheated to keep the drow equipment. I put on the cloak of displacement, taking off the cloak of the sewars. Net effect AC -1(actually +1,but the AC got worse if you know what I am saying). The cloak says it has an effect on ac but is that only in battles, cause my number didn't change. I also tried out the staff of curing, realizing too late that it is a two handed weapon, forcing me to put down the sentinal+4. Net effect AC -3.
I think someone mentioned my dex, which is 19 cause I am an elf. Not counting cheating and the UD, anyonw beat AC -16? |
There's the staff of woodlands (+3 AC) but you have to be a druid to use it. I think you have to be a cleric to use the staff of curing, too.
|
Ive got -20 and below in the past :D
I got a tip play a bard, speficaly an blade, or an swashbuck, and get use all item for both of them. Bard: (use all item) +4 elven chain i forget the AC ring of gaxx +2 Ring of protection +3 Boot of phaseing +2 Cloak of the sewers +1 dex 19+ by the end of the game i had i think 20 dex one from tome in bg, 1 or more from other item and stuff in tob *shungs* also lost some dex in hell also so that changed it to. Blur multiple time +1 each time, if you don't have the patch that fix this bug. then blade's defensive spin +10 ac hehhhehehe do the same with swashbucker, but forget the blade defensive spin and blur cause the swashbuck don't cast spells unleast its a dual, anyway the swashbuck get extra ac every so many level so that makes up a bit. |
-23 without ToB
I can get better than that in tob for sure, dont want to play (just items, no spells) |
theres a secret armour that beats all these hands down. apparently. anyway, shadowkeeper lists it but the description neglects to mentions its stats. you need items from Bg1, Bg2 and TOB to make it tho, and its only available near the end. but elmonster (form baldurdash) got -21 ac from equiping it, not bad for a mage.
|
I dont do that shit. all items are legit from BGII, rolled character
|
Blade is the easiest to get low AC, but there is no point in having AC below -20, because the AC is capped at -20. You may have -25 AC, but it will still be taken as -20 AC still.
Theorotically, and ignoring the AC cap, a Blade can attain Spoiler ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Armour: Big Metal Unit( sets base AC to -10) 18 DEX: -4 AC( -14 AC) Ring of Gaxx: -2 AC( -16 AC) Ring of Earth Control: -1 AC( -17 AC) Cloak of the Sewers: -1 AC( -18 AC) Helm of Balduran: -1 AC( -19 AC) Thankee for Use Any Item. Dak'kon's Zerth Blade: -1 AC( -20 AC) I will ignore Drizzt's weapons since you cannot keep them. Sentinel Shield: -5 AC( -25 AC) So that gives us a base of -25 AC. Now let us add spells into the factor. Blur: -3 AC( -28 AC) Defensive Spin: -10 AC( -38 AC) If you do not want to include the Big Metal Unit, then replace it with Aslyferund Elven Chain +5( sets base AC to 0), you will end up with -28 AC. But this requires ToB, without ToB, hmmmm... ... let's try Swashbuckler, Armour: Shadow Dragon Armour( sets base AC to 1, with the SB's bonus, makes this 0) 18 DEX: -4 AC( -4 AC) Dusty Rose Ioun Stone: -1 AC( -5 AC) Cloak of the Sewers: -1 AC( -6 AC) Dak'kon's Zerth Blade: -1 AC( -7 AC) Buckler +1: -2 AC( -9 AC) Ring of Gaxx: -2 AC( -11 AC) Ring if Earth Control: -1 AC( -12 AC) Kit Bonuses: -4 AC( -16 AC) Assuming lvl 23 under the SoA Xp cap. Eh... nope. Hmmmm... 250, I am curious, which kit and how did you attain -23 AC in SoA? |
But this requires ToB, without ToB, hmmmm... ...

Eh... nope. Hmmmm... 250, I am curious, which kit and how did you attain -23 AC in SoA?[/QB]
I thought I was hearing a lot of BS on this one. Why did you use the shadow and Ring of Earth control combo instead of the Red Dragon and Ring Prot +2? And where is this Zerth blade? |
Yeah, yeah I just remembered a SB would be a theif :D
If there is a sword that adjusts AC I could get down to AC -17, so the Zerth question still stands. |
you should not go up against the maturest 250, dont even try
|

quote:
Originally posted by 250:

Dak'kon Zerth Blade is bought from a bonus merchant, the same one that sells the Robe of Vecna.
Let's try Paladin... PS: Red Dragon Scale Armour + Ring of Protection +2 is a bug and has been corrected in ToB, so I will not use that. Armour of the Hart: -2 AC 18 DEX: -6 AC Helm of Balduran: -7 AC Dak'kon's Zerth Blade: -8 AC Sentinal Shield: -13 AC Cloak of the Sewers: -14 AC Ring of Earth Control: -15 AC Ring of Gaxx: -17 AC ?!?! ?!?! |
I am just kidding... kinda busy here so I didnt reply (I like to reply bullshits, that is my flaw), sowwy :D
well, nothing biggie about -23ac swashbulker dual fighter at level 13 give him drow full plate armor |
But short of exploiting of a bug, you cannot keep the Drow Fullplate Armour.
Anyway, let's see... Drow Fullplate: -4 AC Kit bonuses: -5 AC, then -7 AC 18 DEX: -11 AC Ring of Gaxx: -13 AC Ring of Earth Control: -14 AC Cloak of the Sewers: -15 AC Sentinel Shield: -20 AC Helm of Balduran: -21 AC Drizzt's Scimitar: -23 AC Take note though, that two of the items are not supposed to be usuable permanently. |
Thanks for the help with the zerth blade, that's what I was going for, equipment you can use the entire game without cheating. Too bad the Red armour and Ring Prot +2 is fixed in ToB, I was getting used to it :D
Anyway to get my dex up to 21 to get that extra -1? |
