Galadria 11-24-2001 03:39 PM

I think you picked the right difficulty level. LOL ;)

Barb 11-24-2001 03:58 PM

How are your stats so high? Do you get better stats if you are on a harder difficulty rating.

frudi_x 11-24-2001 05:13 PM

you'll never convince me you managed to roll a 102 AND get 18/00 strength. you want me to calculate the odds of that happening?
so much for no cheats...

Lucre 11-24-2001 05:28 PM

Yea either you stayed up all night or ur talking bull$@*&

Campino 11-24-2001 06:03 PM

Highest i ever rolled was 96,and it took me half
an hour....(worth it after all)

cloud88 11-24-2001 06:06 PM

hey barb i think you know this but you asked if you get better points on higher difficult that i dont know dont think so anyway
but what i do know is that every time you roll you get diffrent rolls sometimes higher, sometimes lower but you knew that dident you? and if you did then i guess i dident understand your q right

Tiamat 11-24-2001 07:57 PM

I will keep thee informed of Rokko's travels!

andrewas 11-24-2001 08:16 PM

cloud - the question here is the chance of getting a roll so far off of average. as in, on 2d6 you will get a 7 1/6 of the time, but only get a 12 1/36 of the time. the probabilities are curved, make a table if you dont understand why. these rolls are 3d6 (+-1 for some race mods, but that dont count), so its a pretty remote chance that someone will generate a roll of 102 AND get a 1% chance of getting 18/00 in the same roll. i think its 1%%% chance, wich it should be theoreticaly, but i think its more like 10% from my personal experience.

on the other hand these are PROBABLITLITIES, so someone out there will have generated straight 18s for their very first roll ever. and got the 18/00. this does not mean that you will get such a roll if you try long enough - the odds are 1 in several million. you wold probably take a month to get it. and then click past it before you recognised it.

and as far as no cheats is concerned - i draw a line between modifying the starting char - remember that you supposed to be coming from baldurs gate, an area with several stat-boosting tomes - and adding in equipment as so forth later on.

SecretMaster 11-24-2001 08:16 PM

Lucky son of a B****. I wish I had your character!!!!!!!

Dundee Slaytern 11-25-2001 12:27 AM

Shouldn't be too hard. Good luck.

Kingenigma 11-25-2001 02:18 AM

Highest I ever got was 98. It was my thief i soon got bored of.

Tiamat 11-25-2001 11:19 AM

Mwaahahahaha!!!!

Galadria 11-25-2001 05:19 PM

While we're on that subject, 18/00 is the highest, right? I mean, it's better than 18/86? My stepson and fellow party member asked me that question, and I said that probably it means that you have (say) an 86% chance of getting a hit if the roll was 18=miss,19=hit. If you follow me. But now I'm not so sure. Comments?

jabidas 11-25-2001 05:46 PM

Is there any kit to the ranger?, if not why not be a fighter

chinese noodle 11-25-2001 10:41 PM

i usually use the shift+ctrl+8 cheat to put all my stats on 18,
then minus them down to
STR 18/00
DEX 18
CON 16
INT 18
WIS 15
CHA 16

YOUR A BHALLSPAWN!!! COME ON YOUVE GOT TO BE A BIT BETTER THAN YOUR AVERAGE JOE! (average joe??? what the hell am i on about???)

Whailor 11-26-2001 04:41 AM

Frankly, the statisctics will just ruin your life, if you live by it. I have personally once rolled 18/00 2 times in a row on one char, and 18/00 with the first roll on second char. Guess it's all about the luck. Rolled twice on first char because all his other stats were way too crappy. Second time I got a nicer roll, with high CHA, what I then tuned down and pumped up DEX, CON, also WIS and INT. Who really needs CHA that much, especially when you can get one neato ring soon enough.. Meanwhile just buy/sell with another char.

Now if I only could also get lucky in RL on some lottery jackpot..

Sorcerer Alex 11-26-2001 04:09 PM

I got a better way of getting top scores, WITHOUT cheating. If you're a class which doesn't need strength 9 or 12 or whatever, simply wait for a roll of 93 (not hard), then give yourself 3 strength, and all the rest 18. Then, once you get out of Irenicus' dungeon, simply buy the girdle of hill giant strength. Voila, 19 Strength, everything else 18

Thrawn 11-26-2001 07:12 PM

At the end of Tob, my mage had 20 str, 20 dex, 20 con, 20 int, and 15 wis, 5 chara

i got an four 18 in a roll then one 11 i belive, cause in BG you get 3 tome of wisedom plus in tob the machine buff your stats

Not an easy tactic when you are soloing, Jon Irenicus' Dungeon will be a bitch to do and the beginning of Chapter 1-2 until you gain enough money.

Assuming that you are a solo Warrior that is.

yes 18/00 is the highest you can get normally (1/2 orcs can get up to 19 i believe) it gives you a bonus to your chance to hit an opponent, ie 18/86 gives a bonus of +2 to the attack roll (a random # between 1 and 20 the computer "rolls" to determine if you hit or not) and +4 to the damage you do when you hit. an 18/00 gives +3 to hit, and +6 to damage
