Dear All

Thanks for all your collective help in getting me this far

I am in Hell now and facing up to Irenicus for what he promises to be the last time.

I have attempted it about 20 times now with no success. I must be missing something.

I have no problem with his pit fiends and Balor. I can clean these up quite easily. My issue is with the Slayer , which I assume is the current form The Big "I "is assuming in this battle. I hammer away at him for what seems to be ages with all sorts of summoned up mates. Using these to keep him busy while I rotate my fighters in and out so that the appropriate healing can be done. I find magic doesn't work well on him and it is often reflected. In the end I die and he is "barely injured" despite the fact that I have done much damage to him and cleaned away all his duplicates.

What can I try to do to finish this anoying bugger up.

As before I seek your help

Yours

David

David,

This should really be an easy battle.

My tactic is to summon the 3 toughest monsters available to my NPC's and (I usually have both Imoen and Nalia) have my mages create Simulacrums. Drink any necessary potions and cast any required protection magics on your party. Place your monsters near where Irenicus's monsters spawn in. Place your mage's clones away from there Iren's monsters spawn, but close enough to cast spells on the bad guys.

NOW once you're completely ready ... THEN perform the little ritual with the tears of Bhaal that spawns in Irenicus.

Have your toughest fighter attack the slayer/Irenicus. Have your monsters and remaining fighters wipe out the enemy monsters. Have your mages cast breeching spells on Irenicus as needed and attack spells on the enemy monsters otherwise. Having one of your mages cast a horrid Wilting spell centered in Irenicus will really help take the starch out of the enemy monsters.

Good Luck!

Impossible, you cant use Time Stop in BG2 without the Experience Cap or a cheat. What I did, is summon alot of mosters and cast haste on everything. Then get Irenicus out of his big door. Then take your party and run to the bottem while your monsters hold off the demons while you run away. Then cast those ghost thingys,(forgot what they were called, Nishryes?) as many of them as you can. Oh ya, Irenicus is supposed to follow you while the other demons are fighting the summoned stuff. Now send all your Nishryes agaisnt the Irenicus, who should be close, if you went to the spot where the stairs are at the bottem of the screen. Then just attack Irenicus with a hasted, potioned, and all that all boosters on a fighter, or a guy you have that can do some melee damage. Thats all I did, but you should add some other tactics(optional) to make it easier.

This only took me 2-3 tries.

If you have ToB installed you can use Timestop

the final battle for me was easy mainly due to ToB makes the game easy
and my chars were high levels.......forget exactly what but a quick timestop and remove protect/lower resist brings him down

Spoiler in the title, spoiler in the second sentance.

Can we delete this please? I personally know of one person who has only just started the game here who wouldn't appreciate this.

Hmm well my view on spoilers is

Too many people on this forum give out way more info than is needed, and often tell how to do a whole quest or are way to specific.

If the title seems to suggest something you are not at then don't read it and you won't have surprises spoilt.

If you can't trust yourself not to look Im afraid nothing can help you.....a long like of "*" after the word spoiler is not gonna stop you looking.....

Yeah, but this is in the title.

"The final battle in hell."

Not everyone likes being told how the game ends.

I agree with the jumping egg ;)
There are still a lot of people here who have NOT played the entire game, and topics with spoilers in them should be tagged appropriately. It's in the Terms of Service.

Tom, you CAN cast Time Stop in SOA without cheating, just not from memorisation. You just use a scroll.

Origionally posted by tom: you cant use timestop in BG2.Posted by me right now: If u have tob installed u can.

Try using protection from evil 10' radius. This will keep the fight a lot easier to manage, don't let it run out.

Dear All

Thanks for your collective input

I used a bit of it all , with heaps of summoned stuff, all hasted , and the running away trick to buy time to queue up my summoned gear.

He and his mates do their best but he runs out of mates and runs out of spells and then you can kill him. It still took me a couple of goes.

Sorry to start the debate about spoilers, I must say I have appreciated the support from you all. It has made a great game all the better

Thanks again

I personally don't know anyone who has not played this game. It's an old title by now and the net is full of spoilers, tips, solutions, cheats and so on. If a person expects not to be "spoiled" in the first place, I suppose that he/she wouldn't come here at all. But since he/she came here, it was pretty clear intent to get a "spoiler".

Every "tip" can be considered as a spoiler as well. If someone wants a spoiler-free game, then there's no point to even look on the boards. I playerd BG1 and BG2 and everything else I have ever played through alone, on my own, without anyone's help or tips. I didn't need it, these are already spoilers. So I don't see really any reason to jump the gun, just because here's the word "Spoiler" missing from the needed 20th column from the line, 3rd row from the top. So if the friend of a jumping egg doesn't want to get spoiled, then he really should not use any boards related to this game whatsoever. Not send e-mails asking for tips. Not call to a friend and ask for tips. The message board is for exchanging the information, not censor the available knowledge the people have.

I personally feel it's much more reasonable to give tips and spoilers here, rather then have the person simply download the ShadowKeeper and cheat away, or use the in-game cheats. The "spoiler" is still a legit way to the through something and should not be labelled a la "delete this trash" with a red face at the end. Not to mention that it's - again - an old title and anyone who has been even slightly interested in it has probably read the reviews, which give away much more information about the game (i.e. where you start, why you are here and where you end) then the posts here. These boards and people here are a good and legit source of the information, so they should - in my eyes - post as they do, instead of forcing the deletion of their posts. When someone comes to these boards, it's their intent already to get "spoilers, tips, tricks, info, solutions", otherwise they wouldn't be here. So, let them get it, it's information age we're in.

Mate, getting spoiled about the solution to a problem, and getting spoiled about THE PLOT are two very different things.

Besides this argument is moot. Spoiling is detested by most gamers, and banned by this board.

Dave, you've got your info. Delete the thread.

As I said I DO KNOW a regular of this board who only just begun SoA (not everyone buys software when it's first out Whailor), who hates getting spoiled like this.

Please Dave, to honour those that helped you out, DELETE THE SPOILER!

Spoiler alert!!!!!!!!!

Sumon up 2 or 3 creatures like Aerial servant or elementals and then cast protection from evil 10 radius. Then cast pit feind and click on the door. When Irenicus appears cast another demon spell as far away from the pit feind as possible (because you dont want your two demons fighting). Use your two best fighters to attack irenicus and have your mages cast true sight and spell protection removal spells (spell thrust etc). Try to get rid of the demons before going all out on Irenicus.
Thats how I did it any way
Good luck!
