Has anybody else noticed how GREAT the music is?
That `main`fight in TOB theme really sent the chills down my spine. Ion Zen (I think that is that name of the dude who wrote the music) has really done a great job in adding those special...thouches to the game! |
I absolutely agree. The music theme is great, through all the game.
The fighting-music is great, especially when there's big and important fights to come, and the background-music is just great. see ya! |
It is certainly very atmospheric. I especially like the music in the slums area at night, it really makes you shiver. This is one of the reasons I love this game so much - it's so surreal.

Agreed, the ambient background sounds are excellent, they really set the mood and dont appear "tacked-on" as in other lesser games.

I also agree, and I wondered if there was a soundtrack available, though I suppose not. There's one in particular I thought was very nice and it is before you even start the game. If you have ToB installed and when you have the choice to choose either SoA or ToB, if you just listen to that music before choosing....... it is so...... so pretty! Best word I can think of this early in the morning.

My favourite background music have to be (1) Waukeen's Promenade, and (2) outside WK meeting the Knights of Vigil.

Roxi, I don't think there's a sound-track available but you can make it yourself with a bit of work. Firstly download acm2wav.exe...do a google search for it. Go into your BG2/music folder....there should be loads of subfolders and loads of .MUS file- one for each track. Go into the track folder you want and convert all the acm files in there to wav files. Then you need a wav editor such as CoolEdit to merge the wav files into one. Then you can burn the wav onto a CD or convert it to MP3. Also, if you download Infinity Sound Converter from teambg.com it does mass acm to wav conversion for you...although you still need acm2wav.exe.

I totally agree with this, the music is superb. I personally love the music you hear when a part of the romance kicks in. Especially when it's right after you completed a great battle. First you are overfocused slaying your enemies with the "loud" battle muisc with drums and so in your ears. Then when you finished you take a deep breath and wipe the sweat from your forehead because you finally won it and *bang* the romance kicks in with that lovely relaxing music wich is both melodramatic and romantic. Now that's what I call atmosphere! It really adds to the game.
BTW I also love the music that is played on the Neverwinter Nights trailer that is on the BGII disc, I believe it is also the main screen tune from Icewind Dale. |
i like the music in the menu, its really nice.

The music IS good. in fact, the background music at my website comes from the game. my website is :Archers Nest

You can extract the music from the game but you need these 2 programs
Near infinity which you can gey here: http://www.idi.ntnu.no/~joh/ni/ And acm2wav.exe which you can get here: http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gte985m/files/acm2wav.exe A tutorial on how to do it can be found here: http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gte985m/files/BG2music.txt |
Althought that mushy romance music can happen at the wrong ttime, for example when you are in the MIDDLE of a fight. And I really think its to bad they didn`t make a soundtrack!

I've always had the music turned way down so that I can hear the ambient sound better (and to have music out in the wilderness reminds me of Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail with that knight that has minstrels etc... following him everywhere! hehe ) but you people have convinced me that the volume should go up again, thanx.

I'm writing this down so I can do that. It doesn't seem too hard ~ ha-ha ~ and I should be able to eventually figure it out. Daniel, thanks.... I might look into that particular addition. Or find someone who has it that doesn't want the soundtrack. Which just might be possible!!!! |
I think the soundtrack was done superbly, it must have taken some time to compose the music so that it complements whats happening as well as it does in the game, it really helps to enhance the mood.
|
I think the best music has got to be the music from the ToB main menu..the way it goes from all violent to calm is really cool.
Also, i like the music from the de'Arnise keep |
