Vine wall

The caster creates a wall of plants around him. The plants will stop any missile attack and absorb damage from melee attack. They do caster lvl*1D2 damage to any adjacent enemies attacking the druid (to a max of ?). They have caster lvl*1D4 health points. NOTE: Do not stop magic damage.

some suggestions. for NWN, BG3, new addon, unofficial expansions, patches, i dont care:

make items stay on someone when the die unless the items are picked up, so the player can revive them and not have to worry about which pile of debri belongs to which ex-corpse.

can we have proper avariel in the game? cos then aerie could get her wings back (a fairly major side quest would be in order of course) and maybe stop bloody complaining.

put all the additional races/kits into BG1 so we can play chars straight through properly. course this is probably more one for teambg.

larger parties. not so that it becomes and RTS instead of an RPG, but maybe allow people to join briefly for quests instead of having to dump someone.

some items:
bracers of quad damge, useable by fighters, these awesomely powerful bracers multiply all damage suffered/inflicted by 4. they use charges and carry a 2% chance of permanetly loosing one point of STR, with a 10% on using the last charge.

ring of demon control

this ring allows the wearer to cast charm demon 3 times a day

keyring : like a gembag, but for keys.

long sword of perfect defence:

usable by anyone, this sword takes complete control of the wielder during combat. this makes it impossible for the wielder to voluntarily break combat, instead he will stay in contact with the enemy, perfectly parrying every move he makes. the result is that he becomes immune to melee damage, although the sword offers no defence against magic or missile attacks. this sword is primarily for use by those who would not normally be able to survive melee combat and do not intend to get that close.

pouch of plenty : like the box,bag and quiver of plenty, but instead giving infinite +1 darts. (upgradeable)

spells:

ultimate restoration:

this quest level cleric spell allow everyone else in the party to regain all hit points, spell memorisations, and fatigue levels. it also removes all negative status effects such as level drain and poison. the downside is its massive casting time (20) and the effect upon the caster, which is to set them to 1 hp, all stats set (temporarily) to 3, and fatigued. in the case of an already wounded cleric behind the front lines, this trade-off might be seen as acceptable.

spell drain:

most magic attempts to destroy the opponents body, this attacks his mind. in the case of a non-spellcaster, the spell will efftivley equal the spell feeblemind. in the case of a spellcaster, each spell memorised will suffer a 10% chance of being lost. in the case of a sorceror there shall be a 20% chance for each remaining instance of each spell level to lost one casting form that spell level. innates are not effected. sequencers and contingencies are not effected.

melfs magical blunderbuss:

although based on the same principles as magic missile, this spell fires several dozen smaller(2 damage) magic fragments in a spread pattern, similar to a shotgun or bludnerbuss. anyone in the area of effect suffers d4 damage per level, save vs spells for half.

dragon summoning:

no copies of this insanely dangerous spell are known still to exist after the mage who wrote it became one of the first casualties. this spell summons d3 dragons, either chromatic or metallic. since dragons almost never take kindly to being disturbed, it is unlikley that anyone, including, the caster will survive the result.

vengeance:

a mage who is unable to avoid death can instead use the energies associated with the afterlife to drag the soul of his killer with him. this spell is cast before the battle and will fizzle harmlessly if the mage is still alive after 1 hour. if the mage is killed during battle, his killer will automatically die. there is a 25% chance of the mage being resurrected in the energy reslease, 50% chance of dying normally with a chance of resurrection, and 25% chance of being utterly destroyed for all eternity.

oh, and sephiroth. you may want to consider copyright issues with inserting your sword into BG2 officialy w/o consulting squaresoft. besides i dont think infinity supports 7 foot blades!

Kaz 10-28-2001 07:11 PM

Polymorph Self: Wraith/Spirit/Ghost

Character gains innate abilities: invisibility, immunity to normal weapons, etherealness. Character gets leveldrain attack + chance for enemies to run away in panic, when enemies view character they must save or run away for ? rounds. Character's HP is set to ?, all items in inventory are dropped on the ground. Attack does no damage. AC is set to 0 regardless of Dexterity or Armor.

This is actually a character I tried to design with Gatekeeper/Shadowkeeper http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

I also agree about the Aerie wings quest http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Disappear

This spell will cause the mage/priest (?) to utterly disappear from this plane for 1D6 rounds. There is a 10% chance that he will suffer ? damage and a 10% damage that ? hitpoints will be healed. (other magic effects?) All enchantments are dispelled (maybe)

Gauntlets of Spell Casting Speed
These gauntlets cannot be removed except by a remove curse spell
These gauntlets reduce the strength, constitution and charisma of the wearer by 1 however the gauntlets have the effect of a permanent improved aclarity speed and reduce casting speed by two.

BladeSingers LongSword

+4, defender
+5 to determine what it can hit

can only be used by elves, and they must be a fighter, or fighter multi-class.

this is a weapon that a character i played on Pen and Paper had recieved as a gift from his village after defenging it against an attacking orc army. it was also a gift for finishing the bladesinger accademy as the top student. i thought it would be nice to see in the game. as well as elven chain+2, or even elven platemail!!

also, we should be able to be in groups, examples: the Harpers, Red Wizards of Thay, Shadow Thieves, etc. this would be kinda fun, and a good chance to roleplay missions from your own groups. also, npc's could be in those groups, or from groups of another kind. and some GOOD npc's, no imoens or anything like that.

The bad guys always get the first shot off no matter what because we have to stop and listen to some dumb diologue. Only stupid movie villains stop and talk when there's a butt that needs whippin'.

Some suggestions for future BG type games:

Fix pathing
or
don't include narrow hallways so pathing is not an issue

Make scripting easier so tedious tasks can be done automatically by computer, such as casting protection spells (current script maker is kind of hard to use, the premade scripts don't accomplish the tasks that I want done, I really hate having to cast protection spells such as haste and protection from evil 10' after resting over and over)

Try to explain the spell system(resistances, immunities, rolls, protection spells, save vs.) better in the direction book. Its hard for people to understand the mechanics of the game with the given directions.

After experiencing haste, noone wants to run around in what seems like slow motion (being without haste), make it so u can always have haste spell on in that your party doesn't get tired and have to rest after two uses, or make a spell that cures tiredness, or make a game option that allows your party members to move around quickly automatically without having to use the haste spell. Im sure everyone can identify with me in that it just sucks to walk around without haste.

Lifetime 10-29-2001 04:19 AM

What about a bit more evil options? A choice of endings/paths/goals that allows for a Good/Neutral/Evil player to experience a slightly different game. More Role-Playing, Problem-Solving and the rest like Arcanum, or Planescape, and make beating up monsters optional/take a smaller part in the game.

Aragorn1 10-29-2001 04:28 AM

HI and welcome,
I have a suggestion, why when your character dies can you not carry on as your npc and raise him/ her from the dead, it just really annoys me that when I have 3 people in my party capable of resurection that they just sit there and watch you die.
Also maybe a temporary 7 member slot for 1 more NPC taht can only be used for people joining you for 1 quest(i.e. valygar is crap, but you could just have him for the ps quest,Thanxs

--idea-- Bards being able to earn a few GP from passersby or tavern patrons by doing a song or two; conversely, the PC being able to toss a few coins to the occasional troubadour (just as can be done to beggars)...

FULL keyboard hotkey customization, to include the numpad? (in BG2 a lot of keys are not reassignable even if you edit the config files)

OH - would it be possible to move the interface buttons (like 'select all party members') a little further away from the edge of the screen - right now it's too easy to overshoot the button and accidentally scroll the screen... but of course I wouldn't want to compromise the size of the viewing area.

(Let me think some more...)

Charlander 10-29-2001 05:57 AM

I've got some ideas for some spells:

1)
Telekinesis:
When cast, the wizard uses telekinetic abilities to pick up an item that's out of reach, hit a monster (hands) without having to stand right in front of it or to open a door from a distance.

2)
Cure fatigue:
When cast, the priest removes all fatigue from the party.

------------------
...and he walked the earth for centuries, slaying creaturs of the underworld...

-Charlander

Mahlennacht 10-29-2001 06:22 AM

Probably unworkable, possibly plagiarism, but it's just brainstorming...

MIND SCAN

Cleric spell lvl 7
Range: 15'
Casting time: 1 round
Duration: Instant
Saving Throw: Neg.
Area of Effect: 1 creature

When cast, it allows the caster to read the thoughts and true intentions of any friendly or neutral creature. Save at -2 allowed to negate. 30% chance of the creature feeling dizzy or sick and becoming an enemy after being outraged at the invasion of his thoughts.

[yes, I just saw Cronenberg's "Scanners" again]

Barb 10-29-2001 06:39 AM

A new character - the surgeon/Elf Cleric

Name - Aaran de Gainsford
Class - cleric
special ability: Full heal, Lay on Hands
Quest: Has to complete quests for the leader of his race
Outcome of quest: May cure a problem for one of the NPC's (e.g give Aerie her wings)
Hp start 74 max 100

Barb 10-29-2001 06:44 AM

When you kill some one in a narrow hallway and there stuff ends up in a black paert of the screen so that you have to spend ages searching for it really bugs me. It should always stay highlighted.

ReGiN 10-29-2001 07:21 AM

Please Chala, make a monk stronghold just for monks!
Seiously the differences between them and a pure fighter is HUGE.
It's really annoying to see them thrown into the same box as fighters and such..
Why not a monastery?

Wurm 10-29-2001 07:45 AM

Ok just a couple of thoughts,

Make the fog of war dissapear over buildings and towers if you get close enough, the artwork of the game is breathtaking, And its a shame that you couldn't see the detail of some of the buildings (candlekeep) or locals because your characters couldn't get close enough. (If the new game is going to be 3D..ignore me http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif )

Clerics should be offered more choices for Deities. Having only one Evil god to choose from was lame. And how about Tempest? I would love to use a sword as a Cleric http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Random Monster encounters...BG 1 had too many BG 2 had hardly any at all.

And what Aragorn1 said about having your NPCs raise you from the dead is also a good point.

Oh and about my first post FALLOUT 3 would ROCK!!

SUCK HORRIBLY...its true, its true...lemme explain...

MONK STRONGHOLDS??? BARD HOBO'S BEGGING FOR GOLD??? FOG OF WAR IN DREAM SEQUENCE, LOL ON THAT ONE. ANOTHER CLERIC CLASS, LETS SEE, THERE'S ALREADY A MILLION CLASSES LETS MAKE IT A MILLION AND ONE. NOW YOUR JUST ADDING MORE INSIGNIFICANT DETAILS TO AN ALREADY OVERLY ELABORATE, DETAILED GAME.

LETS FACE IT THE MAIN PROBLEMS WITH BG2 IS
1)THE PATHING(COULD BE SOLVED BY MAKING ALL AREAS AND HALLWAYS OPEN AND SPACIOUS)
2)HAVING TO CAST DUMB PROTECTION SPELLS OVER AND OVER AND DOING OTHER SUCH MENIAL, TEDIOUS TASKS(COULD BE SOLVED WITH IMPROVED SCRIPTING SO THEY CAST THEMSELVES AFTER RESTING,AFTER THEY RUN OUT, OR AFTER A SET CONDITION, PREMADE SCRIPTS=CRAP, CURRENT SCRIPT MAKER=NOONE UNDERSTANDS HOW TO USE IT, ETC.) SOLUTION= NEW USER FRIENDLY SCRIPT MAKER EVERYONE CAN UNDERSTAND THAT CAN ALTERED AT ANY TIME DURING THE GAME WITH EASE)
3)IT SUCKS TO HAVE TO COMB THE ENTIRE AREA WITH MOUSE FOR POSSIBLE LOOT-ALREADY BEEN FIXED IN ToB THOUGH-HOLD DOWN TAB STUFF LIGHTS UP
4)ALL KEYBOARD KEYS SHOULD BE CHANGABLE, I WOULD LIKE ALL MY COMMAND KEYS CENTERED IN THE AREA OF MY CHOOSING,THIS IS ONE STEP IN MAKING IT SO I CAN USE MOUSE FOR NAVIGATION ONLY AND KEYBOARD (IE DIABLO II) FOR COMMANDS AND SUCH ONLY, MAKING IT A HAPPIER WORLD FOR ALL
5)HASTE SPELL CAUSING YOUR CHARACTERS TO GET TIRED ALL THE TIME(COULD BE LESS DISTRESSING WITH AN IMPROVED SCRIPTER, SO HASTE CASTS AFTER RESTING)

THATS IT, THOSE ARE THE MAIN PROBLEMS WITH BG2, IF THESE PROBLEMS WERE SOLVED, BG2 WOULD BE A PERFECT GAME. YOU ALL MAY THINK YOU HAVE MORE SIGNIFICANT GRIPES, BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT, IN ACTUALITY, YOUR MOST LIKELY A WHINY NIT PICKER WHO NEEDS TO FIND NEW WAYS OF EXPRESSING HIS CHILDHOOD AGGRESSION. I SUGGEST THERAPY, BUT WHO AM I TO JUDGE.

Nifft the Nimble 10-29-2001 12:16 PM

Hi Hilm! I'm probably too late, but here goes my wish list:

1) Named Familiars. I want my rabbit named "Bun-Bun"!

2) Neutral Quest Options. There really ought to be a neutral path which sometimes gives you a positive rep point and sometimes costs you one. The good path is very well developed and the evil path is at least present, but there's no mention of actual neutrality. (IMHO the idea of a 'true neutral' is contrived, but if you're trying to role-play a druid or priest of Helm that's what you gotta try to do.)

3) One Evil Thief. A halfling assassin or a half-orc fighter/thief would be very cool. You'd think that evil thieves would be as common as good or neutral ones.

4) More Ice, Acid, Lightning and "Sharp Rock" (Earth-based: iron, stone, crystal, steel, etc.) spells. There're too many Fire spells in the game.

5) Missions where stealth actually matters. Fights that you get full credit (in XP) for avoiding just so long as the primary mission gets done. Assassinations are a good example.

6) More random encounters & actual wandering monsters. I want to have to make my thief (or other scout) work on the way out as well as the way in! Also I'm tired of facing groups of known composition. More randomness! Each encounter ought to be different!

7) Random dungeon generation! This might be impossible with the infinity engine... it would totally kick butt though!

8) Random theft / assassination mission generation! This wouldn't need more any random dungeon generation, just random traps, items & guards. You'd probably only need 3-4 types of houses.

9) More race-specific weapons, armour & other magic items. I see no reason why a Half-Orc ought to be allowed to wear armour made for a Dwarf or Halfling, and vice versa. Thus finding Full Plate for your non-human PC could be a mini-quest in itself.

Thanks,

-- Nifft

Sorry to nitpick, but has anyone questioned the veracity of Chala's pronouncements? He says he's a Bioware developer (and with terrible spelling AND grammar "if you have sugjestions post em here or make the thing ITEM SUGGJESTIONS FOR CHALA"? Huh???), quotes a few website addresses, and everyone falls in? Man, talk about gullibility!!! Hey, I work for NASA, and am currently on the XP-6 projeyct, which is Toip-Secrete! You cannot know! Haha-ha. All your base belong to us/me. Make your time!

LOL - if you had REALLY paid attention, you would have seen that both Memnoch and I already questioned this whol edubious thing, only we were a bit more subtle about it http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif
I agree - but let's have Chala speak up for him/herself, shall we? http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

I guess I'm a bit un-subtle when it comes to rediculously obvious stuff like this. As I read each post under this subject, I was laughing more and more as they got longer and more involved.

Ah the travesties of ignorance, such a pitiable lot. Or perhaps they were all playing along and I am the Fool...
