My Party (at the moment)
-Me (Paladin) -Minsc -Aerie -Yoshimo -Keldorn -Jan 1:Can i (should i) swap Jan for Edwin? Coz i know Jan is funny but he's week as. 2: Do Minsc and Edwin kill eachother? 3: The future party i would like to hav. (If possible http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/crap.gif ) -Me (Paladin) -Minsc -Aerie -Imoen -Keldorn -Edwin 4: Wat chapter do u get Imoen back? Thanks http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/DJsmile.gif -GokuZool- |
No Minsc and Edwin will fight. Get Valygar or Mazzy instead for Minsc, Edwin is far better than Jan, and if you've got Imoen you don't need another thief. Just keep your reputation below 18 and you'll be fine.

Edwin is the best mage in the whole game. Not even a PC mage will be better at spellcasting. So yes, he is worth having in any party. The drawback is he is evil, as you have already noticed. That may get you intp some trouble since he won't get along very well with some NPC's.
Spoiler??? - - - - - - - You get Imoen back in Chapter 5 I think. When you enter the maze in the Asylim I believe. (It's been awhile since I played) =) [This message has been edited by Haddar - Servant of Talos (edited 10-04-2001).] |
But Minsc rules http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif
I don't hav Edwin yet BUT i am thinking about getting him coz Jan isn't that good...My reputation is around 15 (Popular) and I hav Minsc...does Minsc walk out on your party or somthing if Edwin is in it... http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/DJsmile.gif -GokuZool- [This message has been edited by GokuZool (edited 10-04-2001).] |
They will fight, one will die, and you can't resurrect the loser because they leave the party to fight. Minsc is no better than Mazzy IMHO, but Edwin is far far better than Jan.

Hmm... I'd suggest swapping Yoshimo for Edwin, and I don't believe there will be any problems with your party members fighting. I played through several games with Minsc/Edwin in the same party, and there was no trouble. The reason I suggested swapping Yoshimo for Edwin is:
S ` ` ` ` P ` ` ` ` O ` ` ` ` I ` ` ` ` L ` ` ` ` E ` ` ` ` R ` ` ` ` - Later on in the game, in the Asylum, Yoshimo betrays you and helps Irenicus try to kill you. Jan isn't actually weak, btw, he's good later on. ------------------ The Eternal ChAos-bringer of
HADB
http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...gat1_opt60.gif CCCCCCcccccccHHHHHHHHhhhhhhAAAAAAAaaaaaaaOOOOOOOoo oooooSSSSSSSsssssss............. I used minsc and edwin all the way through SoA, and part way through ToB, and they never fought. I wouldn't discount Edwin just because of the slight possibility of party problems. He rocks; the coolest npc besides Minsc IMO

killer party...3 mages, 1 cleric, 1 thief, and 3 fighters...One switch and you're rolling till the end. Jan will turn out to be a good thief, as well as mage, and his "special bolts" *stuns, etc.* have their use. |

2: Does it make a difference if i dump Yoshi now and not later (muck up story?) 3: Wat is the chance of Minsc and Edwin fighting??? Coz Minsc rules *naturally* http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/DJsmile.gif -GokuZool- |

2: I believe if you do NOT take Yoshimo with you into Chapter 4, then you will miss the 'Yoshimo incident' and you WILL NOT be able to pick him up after Chapter 4. It's an interesting incident, but not crucial to the overall story. 3: Well some people have just said they had no problem with Minsc/Edwin... ? Wow, I don't know how they managed that - all I know is that I had SERIOUS problems with them fighting after having them a while, so I had to dump one of them. BUT - if you reload after a fight breaks out, they may not fight on the reload... fights seem to be randomized a bit. Yah Minsc rules, but Edwin is REALLLLLLY skilled... |
OK a few more things...
1: In my party I have -Me (Paladin) -Minsc -Aerie -Yoshimo -Keldorn -Jan I hav just met up with Mazzy and i don't think she is that good so i won't hav her in my party. I flicked through the manual and found Edwin and read about him. I know he is in the Docks and i am now doing the Shadow Thief quest at present. If i find him and use him who should i swap..i hav considered that he is evil and he may attack Minsc http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/crap.gif i just don't know who to swap for him if i get him although i still need to take imoen into account...the only thing i can think of is.... ME MINSC YOSHIMO >S>W>A>P> EDWIN AERIE KELDORN JAN >S>W>A>P> IMOEN Is this a good idea if i take it..coz Jan is pretty good..but i think that Imoen is better (Correct me if wrong) PHEW http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no.../drooling1.gif My population is 15 (Popular) i think that's good.. Thanx http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/DJsmile.gif -GokuZool- [This message has been edited by GokuZool (edited 10-05-2001).] |
Wow i didn't even know minsc and edwin fought. i had a party with minsc edwin and jan. best way to have a powerful party especially if you include aerie. You also get the best dialogue's (jan and minsc and jan and edwin are great.) also i went most of the way through BG2 and ToB (up to the boss of ToB) with a rep of 20 and edwin and he just whined a little.

I have gotten the same warning from the forum but I realized:
negligble spoiler > > > > > > > > > > > > > 1. I have a Rep of 20 for at least 2 chapters (I am at ch 5) and at least for a month now, and Edwin at best likes to say 'Enough, you have wasted opportunities after opportunites, I can't take this no more" then gives me his three scroll cases and a helmet BUT stays, he then ask the question if I should come to my senses and my choices where , NO and 'Yes, I need your skills.' He does this once a week or when I am rewarded with a Rep point for a quest. 2. Back in the PnP days when I played as DM, I use to apply Charisma and Intelligence as modifiers for party interaction and stability, especially when there are varying alignments. I am almost positive that the programmers have done the same since we get variations on party interaction with the same party members. I think your stats do play a part in party stability. My character (party leader) has a Charisma of 18 (with an elven ring). Try artificailly raising your Charisma or Edwin's Charisma and see if he becomes more stable. In the PnP days, as DM, I always use attributes to keep my players honest, you know, a dumb orc having a great idea ( just did not roll dice everytime, I just make a mental note that orcs are not to have successful great ideas for more than once every two months then I concoct some amusing result for the failures - ie 'you bumped your head and fall') I wont be surprised if the programmers did the same... I think theirs just have more fatal results. If I did that in the PnP days my friends characters would have never left Lv 2. Just an Idea...
