5) Her hit points REALLY are dreadful-oh a fight with a gibberling I couldn't possibly- he might seriously injure me.
6) She advances too slowly
7) Her intelligence means she can't learn to many mage soells.
8) She whines non stop, I know I already said that but I felt it was so important I thought it deserved a second airing.

Yes I have played all the way through with Aerie in my party (for the sake of completion) and finished the romance with her all the way through ToB so I'm not being ignorant. However I'm drawn to the inevitable conclusion that Aerie is to coin a phrase 'utterly crap'

Actually, Aerie's only weakness is her low hitpoints, she can replace Anomen as Cleric and Edwin as mage, thereby freeing up space for another party member, and if you give her the Mace of Disruption, the Shield of Reflection and the Robe of the Good Archmagi, she's able to defend herself, I agree that her whining is irritating, but just play as a female character then you will be free of a lot of it since much of it is romance whining, her intelligence dosen't stop her advancement since it's not so fast that she will get any high level spells soon, and by the way, Aerie does NOT look like a ten-year old and who chooses their NPCs depending on how sexy they are anyway? If I wanted to do that I'd choose Viconia instead, definitely no Jaheira, those huge eyes freak me out a bit.

She can act as a singlur support character who can blast magic into battle were it needed or unleash healing spell without being hit and losing the spell, when a pure cleric or mage would take two group places.

Errrrrrm... I dunno, I'd just rather sacrifice a spot in the party and have a powerful cleric and a powerful mage instead of one character who combines both but is weaker in each. If there were TWO cleric/mages, aha, maybe, but to get access to the higher level spells it'll be Anomen and Edwin, please.

I agree - her only weakness is that she dies frequently... But hey! Who wants a live charactor anyway? I like mine permanently on a drip...

It becomes almost funny, or part of the routine, after a while... like:

'Ok... Mazzy ready with the bow... Keldorn, ready the sword... Jan, invisible... Valygar, stealthed... Aerie, spells ready... CHARGE! Valygar, backstab that guy! Keldorn, hold them off! I don't really hate Aerie, but she does whine quite a bit even when I play a female PC.

The other thing is (unless I'm mistaken), both Aerie and Viconia have constitution of 9, but Aerie is the one who keeps complaining she's tired. Anyone know why??

You bastard Aerie lovers, you say Jahiera and Nalia are her prophets! You BLASPHEME the name of them! Take that worthless classist hoe Nalia, but do not claim Jahiera! Jahiera is tough, rugged, witty, and loving when she wants to be!

Viconia is gorgeous! jahiera is gorgeous! They are both extrmeely usefull. Aeire is extremely not. I say burn down the Heretics of Aerie. They are evil.

Weren't for Aerie's array of spells I'd have kicked her out of my party - low HPs and slow level progression are her weak spots indeed. Fortunately, I had a powerful mage in my party, Nalia (could have used Edwin but he's evil) and a powerful cleric, Anomen, to help her. Keeping her alive was a challenge, and NO, I never used her as a fighter. I used stoneskin and the girdle of fortitude all the time. Maybe it's because of her saving throws - the lowest the level, the worst the saving.
Aerie is very good at the beginning, but at later stages I needed more Heal spells and wanted to summon more skeleton warriors... too bad she couldn't reach level 15 http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif ... and more Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wiltings... I was extremely disappointed when I found out Aerie couldn't cast level 7 and 8 mage spells, plus she got level 7 cleric spells by the end of chapter 6. Despite this, I kept Aerie with me because I was near the end of the game, but I'm not sure I'll take her in my next adventure through BG2.

a sling not a staff or so , and let her cast magics like stoneskin

this has been covered many times in various "who should i take" posts...

first, she can NOT replace either anomen or edwin simply because she is multiclassed. when ano or ed would be at 16th level and scaring liches and casting maze, she'd barely be scratching 12th level and still barely frightening wights.

i would never waste a great weapon like the mace of disruption on someone with no STR bonus, no specialization, and (again) really slow THAC0 advancement. if you counter by saying give her a strength belt, ill just sigh in resignation and give you a flower, hippy http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...les/tongue.gif.

To complain about Aerie's low hit points is not valid. There are ways to boost her life to the point where she will have more life than either Imoen, Edwin or Viconia.

Helm of Balduran.
Sensate Amulet.
Girdle of Fortitude.

Also, because of her multi-class nature, she can store Clerical spells as well in her Sequencers, Triggers, Contingencies. Mmmmm... 3 Flame Strikes in a Spell Trigger... *drool* ... ... Oh, that will be in ToB of course. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

True, she will never attain the max in either class, but that is a small price to pay to more than double the amount of spells she can have in either class. As a background caster, she is extremely versatile and lethal.

Frankly, I find Jaheira whining to be irritating than Aerie's, but that is my opinion, maybe you have different tastes, so be it. To each his/her own.

Also, Aerie's 'whining' eventually stops if you go with the flow, Jaheira however... consistently prods you and questions your ability to control your Bhaal taint... ...

I just noticed that eveyone saying Aeries hit points suck but instead suggest taking Edwin, the mage. Is it just me or do mages hit points suck a lot more then Aerie?
and Anomen I find works well in melee but during the heat of batttle stopping to disout healing is just not practical, he get hit more often then he completes the spell and the person he tring to heal dies.
