How many of you suffer from NOT using your wands/scrolls/potions/items because you keep thinking "they're too valuable to waste"?
At the end of my game i had literall libries of lv.7-8-9 scrolls, thousands of potions and so many wands it took up nearly all of my inventory! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/noncgi/smiles/wow.gif Is it just me who suffers this? http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif ------------------ http://www.animfactory.com/animation...s/j_md_clr.gif |
I dump most potions, the scrolls I get the mages to write and am wands I admit I can be a little cautious, that and I dont really need them.

I always seem to accumulate scrolls that my mages have already learned (and bought for hard earned cash http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no.../angryfire.gif ) so i dont want to dump em.....who know when they might turn a battle for me! Except they never do! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...les/mad111.gif And thus begins my dilemma all over again

I used to do this. I realized, 'If I don't use em, why carry em?' So whenever I make it to the next shop, I sell everything that I know I won't use. Wands are a great boost in GP, especially for beginning parties.

I'm guilty too. Carrying all these potions, wands and scrolls around, facing problem of insufficien inventory space, I still thought "Next time. I'll use all the staff in the next battlle". But that "next battle" never comes...
Almost in the very end of every playthrough I began to understand that it is time to SELL those wands and potions... ------------------ Tanda, with best regards from Guild of Assassins |
Yup, me too, lol. about half of my available inventory is spent on wands, scrolls and potions. The other half is carrying stones, bolts and arorws of various types. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

I'm guilty of that too. That is one of the reasons why I was happy that they introduced scroll cases into the game. I also used to horde extra weapons and armors. The tables and other compartments in the Copper Coronet were busting at the seams with all the items that I stored there. Bernard and Hendak could have become very rich just by charging me for the use of their storage space.

yea i suffer from hoarding items as well. not so much with the potions and scrolls but wands and useful spells (spell turning, pierce magic, chain lightning, etc). and they've just sat in my inventory since i've found them. with the exception of those one charge wands that you find in the dungeon in Ch 1. hehe..i used almost all of them on the dragons.

I usually horde the unused items in my stronghold/or place that im going to visit lots. I horde my stuff in the cowled wizards house that Edwin makes you kill in Renald bloodscaps quest, in the docks district on the 3rd floor.

I do!
I hardly ever use scrolls because they always cast at a very low level and thus are'nt worth using. Likewise for Wands. Have never used the Wand of Cloudkill trick before.. Edwin still had a flame arrow scroll in his quick slot at the end of the game, and I picked it up after exiting Irenicus' lair. I just never used it.. ------------------ Why? |
Heh... ... :o
Wands wise, I sell all except for Magic Missile, Monster Summoning, Cloudkill, Fire and one Ice Wand. Hmmmm... ... That means I only sell the Electricity one. Basically I use MM wands for weak battles, like against Muggers, Fire for the scorcher for non-savable hits in moderate fights and Cloudkill for Umber Hulks. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif MS when out of summoning spells and lastly, the Ice wand for the Limited Wish Quest. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif Scroll wise, I sell all Green scrolls except Protection against Undead. If all my mages have learnt that spell, I sell the scroll unless it is an attack scroll or special scroll like Stone to Flesh, Freedom, etc... ... Flame Arrows scroll stay, in case my mages run out of spells. I definately keep summoning spells too because I use summons a lot. Potion wise, I do not sell them, I use them. Heh heh, sometimes I overkill though, on potions. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...les/tongue.gif ------------------ If not a Sorcerer, then a Paladin. http://www.gifs.net/animate/dflysb2.gif ------------------------- Baldur's Gate Item Mart |
hehe, i currently have a BG1 game with one character carrying ONLY scrolls, one with ONLY wands and one with ONLY potions...i really should tidy up http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
In BG2 is just get scroll cases and keep as many scrolls as i can, there are at least two scrolls of time stop in the game, for example, that are incrredible helpful later on. (like taking out a black dragon with a lone mage, hehe) potions i am guilty of hording, but i use wands up quite a lot, and they are rarer than in BG1 ------------------ Those who ph33r the darkness have never seen what the light can do |
scrolls- I scribe 'em or sell 'em. Unless I'm planning on approaching a big fight... then I buy what I think I will need to cast quickly.
Potions- outside of healing, antidote, and elixer of health I sell them. Wands- I still have them, never use them, don't know why. |
GUILTY!!!
At one point I've had all my fighters lugging excess scrolls and potions and such! And I've got these 'doomsday' spells in Nalia's scrollcase that just never come out! Doomsday never arrives! Well, I finally am beating that. SPOILER In the battle where you massaquer the Thieves Guild (working for Bohdi), the final battle against the Thieves guild master and his mage buddy (very nasty fight) I had everyone cut, bleeding, confused, and running scared. Nalia was stunned, and standing right beside the two spellcasters, and fortunately they were ignoring her and trying to nail my fleeing characters as they beat it back across the bridge. Then Nalia became unstunned. With a look of absolute fury and hatred on her face, she whips open her scrollcase, and yanks out 'Summon Fiend'. 'Alright you (@!&%&#$(&(%*@, I'm goin' NUCLEAR on yo *SS!' she hisses, summoning a right nasty demon right behind them and then running for it. It was so pleasurable reading the battle progress, as the demon almost casually stunned them and wripped their innards out. Then he nicely unsummoned himself before even thinking about hunting the dungeon for us. So my new motto is, 'use at least one potion every battle' and use a NUCLEAR spell every major battle.
