I have always played the game on Windoes 2000 and had maximum graphic and no slowdowns. Now I have a temporary problem with that system. I switched To Windows Me. Now my game works really slow. Does anybody know how I can fix that. I would be grateful if somebody answered.

did u change any hardware or just your operating system? do u have allthe latest/best drivers for your hardware? do you have the BG2 patch?

I didn't change my hardware and I did install the patch. The only thing is that I changed form DX8 to DX7 (Direct X). Can that be the problem?

Not sure, but its possible that the downgrade may be the cause of the detrimental effects (?). I've had a similar problem before, but it didnt reolve itself quite like that.

From what I heard, Windows ME is the worst operating system on the market righ tnow. WIndows 98 is much better. So, my recomendation would be to either go back to Win2K or go to WIndows 98, because Windows ME sux big time.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I guess I will just have to wait until my dad will fix Win2000. Cd drives don't work, because their drivers were deleted during virus scan. That really sucks. I can't put in my baldur's gate 2 cd. Does anybody know of any No Cd cracks? Windows Millenium does suck and slows down almost every game I ever played on it.

this reply may be a bit out of line but, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA the problem is stariing you right in the face HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, chuckle..chuckle...I'm sorry about that I really am but it had to be said WINDOWS ME is the bigest pile of crap Microsoft has ever subjected the general public to. Win Me is the problem, get rid of it..if atall possible. I have had nothing but nightmare after nightmare with it, and I mkae a lot of systems, win 2000 with sp2 is the best os for now, in my experience anyway.

Reinstall win2k, it will be worth it. On a side note, I find BG2 to be slower and choppier on Win2k than Win98 (I dual boot)

Huurray! My dad fixed my old Win2k sustem and I can play normal again!
I dual boot too (Win2k and win Me). Windows Me does suck with some games and Baldur's gate 2 is one of them.
