What NPC can use the amulet of power (the gift from Aran Linvail) and use the mace of disruption +1 (+2) w/ some slots filled for maces?

Do you mean together well thats Viconia and Anoemen I think oh and Aerie. I dont know why you would want that though instead of having 2 people negative plane protected. Jaheira and Minsc can make a great team that way.

I'm playing as a good-aligned party so that rules out Viconia, Aerie is too weak to play as a fighter (I'd prefer having her casting spells). I guess I'll have to use Anoemen. Negative plane protection wears off too fast. I played once through w/ Jaheira and Minsc in my party. They did make a pretty good team but I'm thinking of going through with a different party. Thanks for the suggestions!

Aerie could make a good fighter if you gave her a strength belt so she can wear plate and so forth. The other option is give it to someone in their offhand so they get the plane protection. Vampires are pretty weak without their level drain.

I forgot that the mace of disruption +2 gives negative plane protection, so that means that they don't have to have that amulet! Perfect. Here's my party...

Me (Barbarian)
Aerie (Love Interest)
Imoen (Gotta have Imoen)
Keldorn
Mazzy
Minsc or Anoemen?

While I like Minsc more than Anoemen but your party needs a cleric more, its a pretty good party all things considered, well balanced.

Well, if you have the mace +2 and the amulet, give Anomen the mace, and give Imoen or Aerie the amulet (it speeds up spellcasting, too).

Go with Anomen mate,
besides as you said you've already gone through with Minsc, and Mazzy is a good fighter-so you dont need too many hard core tanks...especially since you are playing a barbarian too http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif.
BTW, make sure you fulfill Anomens quests adequately, namely pursuing the lawful good path. This will make him a far easier character to live with, and a more powerful one too-his wisdom goes up etc. with all the associated benefits.

Just my opinion, but I like Minsc better than Mazzy.

Minsc is a better tank, Mazzy is a better archer. Just depends on what you need.

I sort of like Mazzy too but left her at home as I thought that her ShortSword prof would limit her considering that most good swords seem to be either longswords or two handed. I suppose you could keep her for the long haul and upgraded her other weapon stats over (a long)time.

Are there any better weapons for her apart from the Shortsword of Arvoreen+2 ?

I have the mace of disruption, but how do you get it improved?

By the way, go for Anomen.

There are some better short swords later in the game; however, that should be your last priority with Mazzy. Her strength is not her front line fighting. Her strength is her skill as an archer. As soon as you get her, hand her the Tuigan bow and lots of good arrows, and she will decimate many opponents before they ever get within melee range of you.

IMHO, the only time Mazzy should even use the short sword is one of those encounters where the opponents appear right in the middle of the party (I hate those!), and she is now stuck on the front line. Fight her way apart from the opponents, then switch back to bow. Otherwise, unless you run out of arrows, she should never touch her sword.

Get the quest to get illithium ore for the artist. However, give him the alloy instead of the real stuff (he gets mad, and you get less xp, but you get to keep the good stuff). Take the good ore to Cromwell with the mace, and he'll upgrade it for you (well worth it!).
