I just had the dream where I turn into Slayer. Now I have the ability to turn into Slayer at will. Does it do any harmful effects on my character and does this ability vanish when I get my soul back?

Your party reputation will decrease by two each time you use it and you have to turn back into human form after a while or you die. Also when you get your soul back its the end of the game so it makes no difference

So is turning into Slayer really worth it? I'm a barbarian and i just use beserker rage to get through a tough battle, and it works great.

samoza 06-20-2001 03:49 PM

The slayer is absolutely amazing, 25 strength, immune to all magic i think, stick him in the middle of a battle and there is no way u will lose. Also a good way of decreasing rep instead of killing the beggers when you hit 20.

Yes the slayer is the nastyman, if we were going to be picky your not actually the slayer your the ravanger another of Bhalls avatars. The slayer was this human male avatar who used to bleed black pus out of the cracks in his face while carrying bone daggers that would wither anything they touched, not the kind of guy to head to the pub with. Im not sure if im 100% right but I got the main details.

I had a dual between my lvl 15 ranger(imported) and dualed a lvl 7 sorcerer. When my ranger cast slayer, it went on the sorcerer. They dualed, ranger lost, slayer had about 2 life left and died of slayer causing germshttp://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif.

If your a good person, I would say I wouldn't become the slayer for any reason. I played a Paladin, and my whole goal was to NEVER change into the Slayer voluntarily.
If you are a evil player, Its a great way to keep the REP managable, plus win some hard battles. Neutral, you go either way.

If you turn into the slayer too many times, does anything special happens? The Imoen in the dream says that "every time you use The hidden power, you come closer to the darkness inside." what does that mean?

It means you lose 2 rep.

Actually, there are critters that can tear the Slayer a new one. Take Illithids. Apparently the Slayer can have his brain sucked out as well, but it likely tastes bad, if that makes you feel better.

That's an interesting Slayer dual that was described. I wonder if you used pause multiple times, or if you just let them go at it.

Unfortunately...taking slayer form also damages your PC. If you remain in Slayer form for too long, you will die. Beware...

The Illithids were really no match for the Slayer in the underdark. I came across desperate times so I changed into Slayer. She maimed the brain suckers. Also, is there any way to open some of those magically held doors in the Illithid City without turning into the Slayer? I didn't bother trying and potions of strength or any spells.

Dulouz.

Yes, there's a way to get that door open, but you need a slave Illithid to do it for you. How you get one is up to you!

Is it really worth it to turn into slayer unless you are a fighter? How much damage is my "great druid" really going to dish out in melee, slayer or not?
**spoiler** below

( i had to turn into slayer on purpose even tho i had finished the Illithis place in underdark-- Viconia left the group after i helped those slaves escape and i got a reputation point-- i had to reload and become slayer THEN go out near the exit http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...les/tongue.gif ) so i was still under 18-- her breaking point

If I recall correctly, regardless of class and stats, the Slayer change gives you: 25 strength, 25 dexterity, -10 AC, - 6 Thac0, 4 attacsk per round, 100 hp (even if you had more), fast regenerate, and immunity to: imprisonment, domination, charm, maze, stun, etc.

So, you can pretty much kick arse despite your abilities beforehand.
