I think all weapons only do a few points of damage per hit. There are several ranged weapons you can use, including the sling of everad & the gesen bow. Since the adamantite golems are so huge they can't get through doorways etc, so usually you can plug away with a ranged weapon & not get hit. Any way you want to fight them, it does take a fair amount of time, though.

Mordenkainen 06-13-2001 04:15 AM

i think because i started with an experienced character there are more of them.Well i know that there are.Well since i dont have the sling or the shaft for the bow i will just have to resort to my other way.

I think flail of ages and blackblood club works on them.

I console capped a Ch2 party once. Much to my dismay, I started running into adamantite golems everywhere and I did not have the proper weaponry. The game adjusts some encounters based on your XP level and makes certain assumptions about your equipment based on XP.

Any weapon that are +3 or better can damage adamantium golems, melee weapons such as Stonefire (axe), Frostreaver(axe), Rod of Terror (rod), Rod of Smiting (rod), Staff of Rynn (staff), Martial Staff (staff), Crom Faeyr (hammer), Cutthroat (short sword), Blade of Roses (long sword), The Equalizer (long sword), Celestial Fury (katana), Warblade (2-hand sword), Soul Reaver (2-hand sword), Carsomyr (2-hand sword), Lilarcor (2-hand sword), Skullcrusher (mace), Blackblood (club), Flail of the Ages (flail), Dragon Bane (halberd), Dragon's Breath (halberd), Blackmist (halberd), Wave (halberd) ... etc can damage it in melee combat. For range combat, weapons like Short Bow of Gensen and Sling of Everard can also damage it.

Don't forget Melf's Minute Meteors (+5THAC0, 3attacks/round), one of my personal favorites, Imoen will hit on practically every attack with this spell.

Use Melf's Minute Meteors( MMM) on Kangaxx! (when he's in Demi-Lich-You-Are-So-Screwed mode) http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Sure, it's only 1 damage, but hey! It's very fast, 3 or 4 shots per round I think. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

P.S. MMM works against Clay Golems too!!!! And Stone, Sand, Brain and Adam' too. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

The key to Melf's Minute Meteors is for your mage to dual wield weapons, since after the spell is casted the magic stones will appear as the main hand weapon. But as you throw the stones, if you have another weapon in off-hand, eventhough the off-hand weapon is a melee weapon, as the stones strike as range weapon so will the weapon in your off-hand. Imagine the off-hand weapon is Crom Faeyr for fighter/mage. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

I'm not too sure about this, but try Ring of Energy and Ring of the Ram. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Trouble with adamantite golems? Do you play with a cleric in the party at all? A way ive found that works effectively and has little danger to your cleric is to cast blade barrier and then cast sanctuary then stad next to the golems in question, they'll eventually die (you may have to do this a coupla times tho for iron and adamantite golems). this also works with almost every enemy in the game EXCEPT dragons and that bastard kangaxx ((kangaxx can see you))...

I always found that skeleton warriors work well on em. I'd raise 2 send em in(they can hit the golem) then use MMM behind em. Also...I found that my staff of the magi did alot of damage to them.

Ravashack 06-13-2001 10:42 AM

Weapon-wise, keep an eye on that Rod of Smiting and Crom Faeyr...

demus 06-13-2001 11:40 AM

Here you all are suggesting melee weapons, when the easiest way to kill them is ranged weapons http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif . Try the Azure Edge or Tansherons Bow (s/p) (both obtainable early on). Just get the adamantium golem stuck, then lay into him with either (or both) of the above weapons, and down he goes, nice and easy http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif .

Wierd... I can just hack through them without too much trouble... Then again, I am awesome... shrug. Easiest way, as was posted already, is to sit back and pound it with a bow (Tasheron's or Gesen's Bow is suggested). THis should be done when it can't get to you to hurt you.

Azureedge was the best weapon for me against Adamantite Golems, especially early in the game when you havent gotten some of the other candy in the game. It truly rocks against them.

Graccus 06-14-2001 09:25 AM

Don't forget about the lowly +1 Hammer +4 vs. Giantkin. This works against golems, and is easily attainable early in the game.

Desuma_Malevois 06-14-2001 09:31 AM

For that matter, the Ring of Earth Command can charm them, though they might make their saving throw.

The city of Suldanessar? That's the only place where I encountered a bunch of Admantium Golems. Here's what I did. I took one of the leftover mind control circlets (from the Illithid city), snuck up behind an Admantium Golem while invisible, and slapped the collar on him. Bam! I've got me a pet golem to go and smash all the other golems. So...my new pet cruised around and smashed all of the golems that were running amok in the city. I brought him back for healing when he needed it. Of course...I didn't get any XPs for the kills that he made all by himself, but I didn't really need them anyway... http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif
