As for myself, I'd like to stick up for Cernd. Every post that I read about him is bashing him, and out of curiosity, I put him in my group. Well, I'm glad I did. He's got the highest Wisdom in the game, and can eventually cast Level 7 spells. Also, I really thought the Greater Werewolf was useful. It regenerates, has 4 attacks around, and Strength, Desterity and Constitution all above 20. Makes a very good back up tank.

So, ladies and gnomes, here is your chance to defend whatever you want.

Except for Nalia and Anomen. (J/K)

I stick up for Nalia. I personally don't find her annoying. She may be a lousy thief, but you shouldn't need to rely on her as a thief anyways. She has the same stat total as Imoen (87), IIRC. She has her Signet ring (+2AC, +2 saving throws, 50% fire resist) and can still use other rings/cloaks/amulets of protection. If I play a good party, Nalia is always in it.

I'd like to stick up for Aerie myself who usually comes in for a lot of flak.
She is a good mage, best used in backup to a specialist mage and a good cleric too. A great utility character to help balance out a team.

Don't forget STR of 14, DEX of 18, and INT of 17. And she is decent at detect/disarm traps.

I'd like to stick up for Irenicus. I mean, exiled from his homeland? Removed from Elvenkind? I guess most humans just wouldn't understand. Plus he has those little pointy things sticking out of his head- that's just got to make you grumpy anyway, so give the guy a break!

Oh, and while I'm at it, I'd like to defend Shadowkeeper, the greatest program of this generation, next to it's little complement program, BGII. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it! OOH, the POWER!

Haer Daelis. Yeah, he was a shitty fighter, a shitty spellcaster, a shitty pick pocket, a shitty tank...well, actually, pretty bad at everything. ill stick up for Aerie for now, and the WS later. Aerie is a great cleric and mage, and with the right items she can be a good melee too. and she has a good romance, for me at least. makes you feel importiant

Anomen, (he hardly whines and is a great npc), Nalia, she also is a good npc. She is not very annoying, exept if you refuse to empty the castle -she keeps bothering you in the coronet. Oh yeah, and Cernd. He is brilliant. Even the werewolf form is good. He is not as good as my pc werewolf, but compared to other npcs he is great.

I never had anything good to say about Haer'dalis because of his low HP. Having tried him a few times now, I would like to take this opportunity to say I was wrong. With the offensive spin skill he attacks very quickly and doing a fair bit of damage. He is an actor, and as a role playing character he is believable, why would an actor have a high constitution and strength? I stick up for my own character..he's a bastard child of a god of murder, has people hunting him left and right, evil wizards do terrible experiments on him and his friends, he is probably the most noticed figure in the region of Amn, all his actions are more carefully scrutinised than any other, and he has to die countless times for idiot gamers like us who put him through the dumbest things. Give the guy a break!

i will now stick up for the WS kit. i mean, whats the deal with bashing him? he gets 2% MR per lvl (this will be fixed in ToB), he has the same thac0 and weapons as a fighter, and he only cant use magical bracers, ammys, rings, cloaks, and girdles! but most of those items suck anyways, so it doesnt matter! he gets the same bonuses in combat as a regular fighter, but the no potions thing is just a bit of a setback, and only a quitter would just give up on a class after starting him. with the right equipment, he kicks ass! without it, any class sucks!

and i would like to remind leagle NOT to bash any NPC, class, or whatever on this thread, cuz were supposed to be sticking up for them!

Nalia is great! She has a great ring, very good history, and good history. I wish she was a romance option. Oh well. However, she does tend to whine a little bit. I can handle it.

i think aerie is one of the best NPC's. i saythis because she has good spellcasting abilities for both mage and cleric. and after the underdark if you equip her with the fortress shield, the robe of vecna and crom faer then she can also be a good tank. so she's either one of the best or the best NPC

Not to be off topic, but I want to thank everyone who posted a reply here. This is the first time one of my post got above 10 (with the little flame on the folder, that is cool). I know it sounds real stupid, but I'm happy I've finally reached that. Oh well.

Now, on topic, I really thought Aerie was a good character. She's got priest and mage spells, and her HP really was never a problem, since she shouldn't be in the frontlines anyway. Her romance was nicely done too, very innocent and sweet.

I stick up for Aerie because she wants to sleep with me!!!
