I'm just trying to chug through BG1 and TotSC, ready to export my character to BG2 and thus ToB. Anyone else losing half their life doing something as idiotic?

btw, feel free to smack me round the head with a wet kipper if this topic has already been discussed lately...

Don't worry!!! Every topic here has been dealt with a zillion times!!

I never actually played TOTSC. I got BG1 a week before BGII came out so I've just played straight through once with my original character! I'm on Chapter 6 of BGII now and think I may buy TOTSC when I finish and replay with a new character and party. I feel that I've missed out on quite a bit in both games so far and I'm also itching to try the evil part route.

I re-installed bg1 so i could use the Tomes on my paladin and import a superhuman char (Str19 Dex19 con19 int9 wis15 cha18) into bg2.

I did this, then realised the time would be better spent just cheating in BG2 - same effect, so not _really_ cheating, is it?

LOL, I think you're on thin ice there... you might just as well say "Well, the Godlike exp cap remover installed I can finish BG1/TotSC on about 200,000 exp points and add one to all my stats".

Actually, thats not such a bad idea...

That's the problem.

You start Shadowkeeper - increase your stats to take account of the tomes, increase your XP, then start thinking...

I know, as a child of a god, I should have at least 100% resistance to all damage and magic. And I really should have 25 for all stats...

ROFLMAO!!!

You got a really good point there you know. Thats it, I'm off home now to reclaim my godhood, with a little help from SK. Tell my boss if there's any trouble I'll rip his liver out (actually no problems there at the moment, he's still dealing with his post election hangover)

Exactly the same as you there Billikins the Bold, you can also do the *unofficial* expansion "Dark Side of the Sword coast" http://www.dsotsc.com/index1.shtml to make your character even more powerful as there are a couple of tomes available within this add on. The choice is yours. The sites worth a plug too, it's a top site http://www.teambg.com/

You might also have re-imported your char to Baldurs gate after finishing it...

antonius 06-08-2001 08:34 AM

DSotSC takes off the xp cap doesn't it? I played it for a while, but it made the rest of BG way too easy. Probably be good to import into BG2 though.

Sure, it might, I'm not too sure. Personally I remove the XP cap anyway but that's my way, it's what I like. I'm not suggesting you guys use it right now or necessarily with ToB on mind. It's just a nice BG1 add on and something you may like to play some day.

Actually, I've started to realise just how much fun BG1 was: you know, that was when 400 exp points really meant something, not just the reward for picking a lock!

Cue Monty Python parody...

I still think the XP cap was too low (and always removed it from BG1 and BG2), and DSotSC was excellent, but I jumped in too early, picked up one of the NPCs and walked through the rest. Except Durlag's Tower...

You're right - low experience games seem more fun. When it's a challenge to kill a couple of Kobolds you get a thrill from it. In BG2 I've killed a demi-lich and some dragons. Levelling up doesn't mean quite as much...

Charlie 06-08-2001 08:54 AM

Yes, I kind of agree on the XP cap thing. I can't help but feel it's a slightly flawed system. The XP cap is fairly easily attainable even with a maximum of six in the party at all times. It's difficult to know how to overcome the problems I guess. Still I agree, I think it's way too low for such a big game.
