Gonegold.com (http://www.gonegold.com/releases/) is reporting a slip in the ToB gold date to 6/20/01. They indicate that they are checking on it...but I wouldn't be surprised if that is confirmed shortly.

Cool your jets guys/gals...couple more weeks yet! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif

Huh??? Do you use a different notation for dates in the UK? In the US, the common notation for June 20th, 2001 is 6/20/01. I guess I don't understand your comment??? http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...s/confused.gif

Actually, we are! Everyone in the world writes it like that, as far as Major nations go. I know that is how it is done in Mexico and South America. And since we were newer than England, (many of us can find some of our roots there), we are the ones that are backwards.
In fact, if you want some more fun info...English is not the official language of the US, because the Congress has never made that declaration, and when that bill tries to get passed, they shoot it down every time. Thus we are a mixed breed of all other nations.

England is in fact also opposite the rest of the world in at least one way, they drive on the left side of the road while the rest of the world drives on the right side.

ShadowUK 06-06-2001 03:10 PM

I meant no offence, i was just having a joke.
I've got no problems with Americans.............

Just thought i'd add a quote from George W. Bush........."More and more of our imports come from outside the country"......

"I think we agree the past is over"

"it's clearly a Budget. It's got lots of numbers in it"

"Nigeria is a very important continent"

I think my bedroom door is smarter than Mr. Bush, when he became president, the average intelligence of all politicians in the USA fell by 10 points.

I am of the understanding that, much to the horror of any English language purists here in England who accuse Americans of speaking a degraded form of English, that actually US English has changed less than UK English and is closer to so-called 'proper' English. It is we in the UK who have changed the language most http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

You call Autumn 'Fall'

But this is balanced by the Simpsons

Memnoch 06-06-2001 10:45 PM

Some advice from someone who has had some experience consulting on supply chain issues – stores/retailers that make ETA commitments about a game that has not gone gold yet are full of bollocks. The designers THEMSELVES don’t know when the game is going to go gold, so how would the stores? They are just quoting a date in their purchasing systems, and they have to tell the masses something. I would say that when the game does go gold, it should ship a couple of days after that. Personally, I would rather wait and get a game that is as free of bugs as possible than go through major frustration playing a game that was rushed through the QA stage. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

The Game is probably close. THey are merely pushing the release date back by a few days or a couple of weeks. Neverwinter nights on the other hand... That will never be finish.

There have been games that have been years late. I think "Oni" was about a year and ahalf late, from the first scheduled released date, that Chips & Bits was advertizing.

Cayle 06-07-2001 01:45 AM

I agree with Memnoch about waiting for the QA. Testing and bug squashing is a tedious business and no one can EVER give an accurate estimate as to when it will be done. Are there debuggers for the AI language? Perhaps not, then debugging AI scripts can get real fun (and take forever). The longer you look, the more bugs you find. It is really just a question of when it is "good enough".

Epona, I remember seeing a PBS (Public Broadcasting Corp, similar to BBC) documentary on the history of the English language. There is a costal island in Virginia where the locals speak what is supposed to be a pretty good approximation of what Elizabethan English sounded like. It sounds like a mild southern drawl to my Yankee ears! As far a language change goes, this is natural and not necessarily a bad thing. We ditched Thee and Thou centuries ago and along with it the grammatical complications associated with a formal and informal case. Plus, we don't have to fret over whether Du/Tu or Sie/Vu somebody. Whenever I am speaking to a German and I am not sure about using Sie or Du, I cheat and try to use English for those "you" statements. Cheese? You bet!

BTW- because of the discrepancy in the way that Americans and everyone else writes dates (and times), there is a special ISO method for writing dates: YearMonthDay.

TOB has already been released here is Ozz so it cant be too far away in the US.

joetbd 06-07-2001 02:25 AM

TOB will be just an add-on expansion. It doesnt bring anything really new. But it is an expansion for a really great game. I am looking forward to it. And I am getting tired of playing through BG2 again and again. But I do it anyway, because its fun.

SSJ4Sephiroth 06-07-2001 02:27 AM

well if those bloody Canadians would hurry up and stop saying 'eh?', it'll get here all the faster!

Zateel 06-07-2001 05:30 AM

Look at all the ethnic contraversy! And not a Republican amongst the masses to defend Bush. Maybe some Americans were tired of the fight-picking, nuclear capability secret telling, cigar stuffing, cash up front drug dealer pardoning, take all my money and give it to someone else type of Presidents.

Anyway... I'm tired of Bioware or Interplay or Black Isle or WHOEVER teasing me about this game. I don't WANT a new game or engine- JUST THIS STINKIN'EXPANSION!!! Neverwinter nights was supposed to have been out last month, and who knows WHEN that will be coming!

I hate bugs, but just say "the game will be out in the fall"(or Autumn, to some) and when it's out early, it will be a great surprise.

Neb 06-07-2001 06:51 AM
