I was just wonderin if anyone stills play DND the PnP way?

BladeMaster 06-05-2001 12:37 AM

I did up until about a year ago when our group got busy with other things. One of the players is a long haul trucker. So I am looking for a new group to play the game with. But no luck yet.

No, not for years. I play Warhammer Quest now. I like having miniatures.

I used to play PnP, but now noone has any time to play, the only ones I could play with were annoying sh*theads that didn't play properly anyway, so no great loss there, I did once play PnP with some good players and a good DM, but at the moment I have to be DM if I want to play with anybody because most people I know suck at being DMs, I wish I knew a good DM so I could be the player for once.

Throntar 06-05-2001 10:02 AM

I used to play PnP all the time. Had a good group of players with some of them good DMs as well. That was cool b/c I didn't have to always be the DM. As Neb stated, that does get old after awhile.

Unfortunately, I just don't have time anymore. Life has taken over. As I get older, I collect more and more "baggage" and find that I have very little time to myself anymore...barely any time to play BG2 as it is.

BTW..."baggage" = wife, kid, dogs, house, yard, cars, bills, school, work, family, etc.

Once a week sessions with the same group I've been playing with for years.
It was their mad raves about how great BG was that prompted me to try the games in the first place.

Bruce The Aussie 06-05-2001 11:23 AM

i've played once when i was a little bit younger about 9 i think. i quite liked it but it never really took off with us. (btw i'm nearly 15. just so you know)

Used to play, but we moved onto other PnP games.
I might start playing it again.

Me and my friends still play 2E rules untill my big brother who DM's the games gets a 3E handbook.

Sir Jaren Tor 06-13-2001 03:05 PM

I still play, once a week w/ a group that I've been w/ since i started college last semester. It'd be more fun if they didn't always have inexperienced DMs, to rectify that I'll be DMing one of the games coming up.

Volourn 06-13-2001 05:42 PM

I've been playing for over 10 years. Currently playing the Pallidium system. My favorite game is still 2E DnD, and favorite world is the Forgotten Realms. Also am looking for people to play 3E, but nobody in my role-playing group likes it.

I used to play a little, For the last 3 years though I have been into LARPing, or Live Action Roleplaying. Pretty tough to go back to PnP after actually doing this kind of stuff live...

For anyone interested, check out NEROHQ.com for more info on LARPs and NERO in general.

I do. But my DM is lazy and always trys to call it off. He is also really sad, as he then ommits to tell us that.

WOLFGIR 06-14-2001 08:17 AM

i do, I´m a Dm too, but my players are lazy! hehe. Hope they see this! hehe!
mostly DoD 3:ed now, but we used to play a lot of Kult and such before, also alot of Shadowrun, Nothing beats a Troll with a gatling gun, watched by a Mage! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! or preferably a Wolfshaman of course! From 1984 to 1997 I used to play 3 (or 4) time a month
(AD&D, Ars Magica, Vampire, Mage). Since 1998, I had to
slow down to 1 (or 2 at most) session each month (D&D 3e
and Ars Magica) (kids and wife take A LOT of time http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif ).

Neb 06-14-2001 08:56 AM

I can't see how anyone could actually LIKE playing 3rd edition, it has some good points, but if I'm going to play it, there's going to be some massive changing of the rules.

Different opinions Neb! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif Hehe.
Well I for one found 2:nd to be too easy and with not that many options. Might also be becaus the DM we had during that time. hehe,we are going to have this discussion until we have no teeth left! LOL

Haven't played anything for a while, but anyone out there use the RoleMaster system. I found that to be leaps ahead of 2nd Edition D&D. Total freedom of charactors.

Desuma_Malevois 06-14-2001 09:55 AM

I haven't played since 1st edition rules, although I recently picked up the 3rd edition and found that they had changed several of the things that I had always hated about the rules. Now I might have to look for a game again!

Ah, Warhammer Quest! Good game. BAD RPG. But apart from that, fun!
