What is the best character to be? (ex. assasin, mage)
What do you end up needing?

http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gifWelcome to the forums, Lioness and Diablohttp://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

The best character class depends on the rest of your party. You should work together as a team, so the characters should compensate for each other's weaknesses. This means that any character is good if you pick the right NPC's. Of course, you would probably want a really tough character, in which case you should try out the kensai or the monk. If you'd take the time to read through some of the older sections of the board, you would see there have been many such discussions, and the monk and kensai (or kensai/mage) usually come out on top.
Personally, I prefer the Archer, as he kinda suits my style of play.

Paladin! Either the Undead hunter or Cavalier. Just my preference. However, archers(rangers) or Kensai/mage dual class

sunder 06-10-2001 07:30 PM

There are many great classes out there, you just have to pick one. A Undead Hunter Paladin is great, A dual class Kensai mage or Kensai thief is good, A Fighter/cleric is a great character also, monks, bunches of others.
They all can be pretty good with the equiptment you can pick up during the game. The only one I suggest you don't play is the Wizard Slayer, I don't think that one turned out the way the designers wanted.
If a Paladin, train in 2 handed sword and 2 handed weapons, Clerics with warhammer and maybe mace, Fighters or Kensai put some into dual weapons and katana/warhammer.
Most of all, Play what you want. Pick something that really catches your eye and you'll do pretty good.

Any class and any combination can be made to work, the only diff being in the number of reloads. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif But, for a pure single player game, a thief is useful... there is only one all around decent thief NPC in the game, and he's not...available...for all of it. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...s/rolleyes.gif

All classes are good. Any class can beat any class. Any class can lose to any class. My favorite, however, is dwarven fighter/cleric.

Dual-classed Human. Mage (Fighter)

First class: Fighter.
Specialize in Long Sword and Bow

Reach Level 7-9

Change to Mage.

Pro: Tough from warrior training, competent in a battle. Even w/o armor a Mage with Fighter training can be a good archer.
Bad-a** w/ spells. Esp. when you do the Improved Haste / Tenser's Transform thing.

Con: Depending on when you switch, you may miss out on the max level of the new class.

I once played through w/ all party members duals, one thief, two clerics, three mages, all switched over from fighers at Level 9. The firepower was immense, the hit point pool impressive. The game was too easy.
