i wonder if i can beat the game with my solo wizard rincewind on insane difficulty without ever memorising a single spell (after all, that´s the problem rincewind had in the discworld... i will use scrolls etc though).
str 10 int 9 wis 12 dex 18 con 10 hmm, i´m tempted to increase my movement rate (after all, i´m the master of running away) but that would give me an unfair advantage... if anyone is interested, i´ll update you on how things fare in this sense... ohshitohshitohshiti´mgonnadie! |
are you nuts?? :D
|
not really, just bored
|
ROFLMAO that's AWESOME I'd love to find out how he does later on
|
LOL!!! Kool.... hope u beat the game I would really like 4 u to keep us posted

phew, i´m out of irenicus´ dungeon at last... and it was NOT pleasant. every goblin was a worthy foe, every mephit a deadly adversary.
i was lucky to get a find familiar scroll on the corpse of a goblin, and my pseudodragon (i am neutral good) did most of the work while i absorbed the hits (since apart from my measly innate abilities and scarce restoration scrolls, i don´t know how to heal it). fortunately, there are plenty of healing potions and quite a few scrolls around there. having to work with whatever happened to be lying around was certainly fun. i never before learned to fully appreciate such priceless treasures as a single invisibility scroll (which would have been a lot more useful if i had found it in the first part of the dungeon) but just about any old scroll will do. i´m currently at a loss what to do... i need money to buy something to fight with, and i need something to fight with to earn money. i could try to cheat and have a nishruu give me wands with unlimited charges (one of which i could then sell and buy everything i need) but that would make this rather pointless... argh, not sure what i´ll do next. |
While i like your idea you are gonna get nowhere!
|
i should have been lawful neutral... being able to pickpocket ribalds ring would make things a LOT easier. but then, i thought rincewind would be either ng or cg...
|
I commend your idea but I think Radiant Mephit is right, this is probably much too hard to ever complete. I mean, how on earth are you ever going to kill Irenicus when you get to him. I really like the idea but I think you are on to a hiding for nothing with this one.
|
Hmmm..while I don't think it's imposible..it very nearly is.
Only thing I could think of is having him as a mage/theif, after all, he IS very good at hiding, and hitting ppl with bricks in socks!! And maybe memorise a lv9 spell, as Rincewinds problem was that he had 1 of the 8 spells from 'THAT' book...just my 2p |
Wow!!! u just mentioned 2 things that I'd never heard of..... Nishruu giving unlimited charged wands wtf??? and htf do ya do that??
And ribalds ring??? neva heard of that either?? You cant steal from Ribald so how did u do that?? |
hmmm.... ur idea has got me thinking.... Im gonna try to Solo a F/M through but heres the catch..... drop his XP down to 0 with SK and also put both his levels down to lvl 1..... That would b INCREDIBLY difficult to get through Irenicus' dungeon (this is on Insane Difficulty)
wat ya think??? But then again I wouldnt be able to Pickpocket :( |
It's a damn shame you couldn't make a Luggage fighter-type familiar. Shouldn't Twoflower have the dragon familiar?
|
yes, the luggage would certainly help, as would a half-brick-in-a-sock +66...
and about the wands/rings: ribald carries a ring of regenration on his person which you can pickpocket. apart from the ring of gaxx and this, there are no regeneration items in chapter to that are usable by wizards which makes things rather difficult for me. nishruu drain charges from charged items, however, sometimes they don´t destroy them when they´re at 0 but give it a ridiculous number of charges, which also lets you sell the wands for several 100k gold. yes, having some thief skills would be nice... but in order to have any dual class i´d need an int of 15 which i don´t think rincewind has. also, it would take a lot of the challenge away good luck with the fighter mage, glorfindel your hit pionts are going to be a problem at the beginning... but if you can get out of irenicus´ dungeon you should be fine |
yeah- set up some other discworld characters- here goes granny weatherwax!
|
Tancred- your sig- ( It could be worse. This could be Pool of Radiance II. ) is harsh!
I thought POR was ok ( not that ive played it) |

Im already out of it and Ive done lethenians qeust..... Bloody hell did I die just A few times getting out of Irenicus' dungeon.... I started of with 10HP and by the time I just past Aatagh (the genie with the button pressing riddle) I had already gotten up to about 37 HP which was definately a relief for using the old Geurilla tactics on the goblins ..... but once I got a level 4 spell I got the fireball and BAM!!! hehe those bloody goblins didnt kill me again It took me 8 dayz to get out of the Bastards Dungeon.... and geuss which bit was the hardest out of the whole lot??? No not Llyich but amazingly the piss easy with a party Memphit portals, by that time I had a little over 50HP and Every time I would walk into that room my bad saving throws would let the Smoke mephit blind me.... thus letting my base Thac0 go to 25... thus makin my thac0 23, I got Killed multiple timez until I figured out summoning monsters to kill the smoking Bastard.. But then the Radiant Mephit would knock me out EVERY time.... with Color Spray.... how pathetic is That .... neway I wasnt lucky enough to get a familiar :( .... Neway Finally I figured out the secret, Hid around the corner of the door... and cast summon monsters.... then just let the Monster (in my case Orgrillion and Worg) kill the mephit portals Uncontested The mephits dont attack the Summons until u c them :D :D :D :D Thus I got through the rest of the dungeon no Probs ... Killing the shadow theives vs. Uvaryl all with the wand of Cloudkill.... though the 1st time I was stupid enough to walk into the kill myself which killed me 2 .... NEway the rest was a breeze.... I plan to keep you all posted on my progress.... unless u tell me to shutup because u dont give a damn :( ..... cyas later :D |

No.... Magma Memphits are much more annoying once u reach over 10th level.... Color Spray doesnt affect u then (not sure on what level it is)

I love the idea of roleplaying as Robin Hood and as Rincewind. I'd be interested to find out what other existing fictional characters people have tried to roleplay. Harry Potter might be interesting. Harry, Ron, Hermionie as Human Mages (not sure which kits) of varying intelligence. Hagrid (Half Orc Ranger). Sirrus Black (Fighter/Druid so he can transform into an animal) and perhaps Gilderoy Lockhart as a rather useless Bard.
Harry Ron and Hermionie would be barred from perfroming any of the unforgivable curses, i.e. no Death Type Spells, no torture spells and no mind control spells. |

Harry could be a Sorcerer, though: he seems to have powers that come from within. As to no Enchantments or Necromancy, make one of them an Invoker and the other an Illusionist. Unfortunately, the party lacks a thief. Any thoughts on who that could be? -- Nifft, pro-thief |

Of course, he and Sirius would immediately kill each other. I dunno... use Shadowkeeper to make Crookshanks? He seems rather good at sneaking around (DOH) ;) |

WHAT DO MY EYES BEHOLD....None other than....the great masterpiece of Sam Raimi and Bruce Cambell...my heart goes boom boom...Could it really be, No, Yes, No, Yes...Shut up it is MAD MAX...NOoooooooo!
...Ash´s back and with that chainsaw he´s gonna rip a freaking hole in the damned creatures that lurks behind every corner of his life. ARMY OF DARKNESS RULES BTW I find the idea of going solo through the game without memorizing a single spell to be rather bold...but I do not see how finding a spell like fireball makes things easier then....It could only save U ONE time anyway...Right A force of righteous and Sparhawk clenched his teath as he was battling with the five trollgods... |
My brother has asked me to make the crew (the guys from the discworld including foul o'l ron and so on) i'm gonna use some sort of air elemental for foul o'l rons stink but i'm just wondering how to do the guy with a duck on his head.

Remember? When he was a student at the Unseen University, he went into the Octavo's room and read a spell, which then leapt into his brain and stayed there, kicking out any other spells that tried to come in. Also its worth noting that during the time in which Coin the Sorcerer was changing the world with his magic, Rincewind was able to perform magic. |
sorry for not updating you, but nothing much had happened - busy irl, but now it´s official: RINCEWIND IS INVINCIBLE!
i earned a bit of money with the druid quest without much fighting(thank the gods for invisibility scrolls! shame i can´t use the shield of harmony... it´s absolutely priceless in a solo game), got myself the cloak of the sewers (which was a MAJOR pain in the neck). grr, if i could only afford a girdle of giant strenght... instead, i bought a selection of scrolls and a rogue stone. after all, if one thing can make a wizard without spells playable, it´s the staff of the magi (obviously i saved before the encounter... and had to reload several times). protection of magic and potection of undead took care of shangalar, a few summoned monsters (skeletons, spiders and minor elementals) got rid of the fighter and the beholder while it was in vain trying to use its powers against me... which left me a big mean nasty vampire and a wizard that wouldn´t win the miss nice of the year award either to deal with. i sacrificed my summoned critters to lure the vampire out of the main chamber (did i mention that protection from undead is just too useful?) and just stood there grinning as the pit fiend ate its summoner (i needed to get rid of the vamp because it would have drained the fiend to death in a couple of hits). the staff should make things a lot easier because of invisibility at will... but i´m desperate for some money (for wands, scrolls, a half-brick-in-a-sock +4 and a girdle of giant strength). |

The Canting Crew: Foul Ole Ron. human, with a Smell attached. like dogs. hangs around with gaspode. Gaspode, dog, brightest of the crew, with the ocasional exception of Altogether Andrews. Coffin Henry, human, nobody can spit and ooze like coffin henry. Duck Man, human+duck. The best member of the crew at conistently thinking in a straight line. could pass for normal except for the duck on his head. Altogether Andrews, psychicaly colonized human. inhabited by 8 personalities : Jossi, Lady Hermione, Little Syddney, Mr Viddle, Curly, The Judge, Tinker and Burke. Five of these can hold a coherent conversation. Nobody presently inhabiting Andrews answers to the name Andrews. Arnold Sideways, Legless human. Got his legs amputated in an accident with a wagon, now deadly in a pub brawl due to boot-on-a-stick and good teeth at groin hight. Well, there are six of them, but as to what class to make them or what stats to give them, I havent a clue. I dont think d&d was made for such as the Canting Crew. |
What Duck?
Making a party of the Canting Crew sounds like an interesting idea, but can anyone suggest a class for Foul Ole Ron. I quote 'He was a beggar in a class of his own, if only because no one will share it with him' Perhaps a watch party would be interesting. Nobby could be a fighter/low level thief Carrot, obviously a paladin Angua a druid(shapeshifter)/fighter No ideas for Vimes or Colon though. Detritus could be a half orc beserker though. |
