Howdy all.

Was curious to hear some opinions on Party compositions. I am in Chapter 2 right near the beginning. Before setting off I decided to explore the city a bit, and came across several NPC's. Currently my party is made up of:

Me (Paladin)
Minsc
Jaheira
Viconia (Yes she is listed as evil, but hey people can change!)
Nalia
Aerie

Now I am very happy with keeping Minsc, Jahiera, and Viconia. Good amount of melee and healing. Nalia I like for the limited thieving and casting abilites, though I will bring Imoen back in once I rescue her. I am really on the fence on if I should keep Aerie or replace her with Jan. If I replace her with Jan I can later on replace Jan with Imoen.

So anyways, any thoughts or comments?

Ditch Nalia and Pick up Jan. Aerie has healing spells, and if you pick up Jan, you don't need Nalia's theif abilities. Interesting combo with Paly and Vicky. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

You need a thief so pick up Jan.
Ditch Nalia..she is dumb.
Do not start a romance with Virc. Try Jaheira(go to Harper strhold)
Ditch Virc for Imoen in...spoiler..............Chapter 4
otherwise nice.
You should aim for:
2 Warriors
1 Mage
1 Mage+Thief
1 Cleric
1 Druid

it all depends on your play style, some combo's are not as effective as others but try to find a balance you are happy with.

you've got two tanks pc & minsc (jaheria can pitch in too)

3 healer types (jaheria aerie & viconia) more than enough

2 mage types nalia & aerie

you've got some problems w/ thief, personally i like nalia as a mage (her voice can get a little grating at times) but i don't like her as party thief

aerie -> jan looks like you're best move if you want to keep a second mage.
yoshimo should still be an option also.

you could then look to dump nalia if a better mage comes along...

Well thanks for the timely info! Much appreciated. Now one question regarding Nalia. When I met her she had a quest involving a keep I believe. By removing her does that effect the quest in any way?

Tough choice between Nalia and Aerie.... should be fine either way. Jan I will grab tonight. Regardless I will have Imoen rejoin once I save her.

O and as far as Yoshi goes, that guy annoyed the hell out of me the second I picked him up. As soon as I found a good spot to ditch him he was gone!

Dump Nalia. Shes a MORON. If you pick up Jan hes a better spellcaster,theif and he cracks me up. Most enjoyable character in the game. Then theres the fact that Nalia is just plain annoying. Worthless as a theif. She is easily the mos replaceable caracter in the entire game. Edwin is a much better Mage than Nalia and if you have him and Jan in your party you can kick some serious butt.

Yes, Yes indeed, certainly pick up Jan, I'd think twice about taking back imoen, get rid of Aerie also and pick up valygar or Mazzy, you need a good ranged weapons person !

Well after playing a bit last night, I will definately be getting rid of Nalia. Good lord she is annoying! Ive decided to help her with her problem, and went to the keep with her. Once done I am headed back to town to ditch her and pick up Jan for a bit.

Actually, as long as your headed back to town, why don't you keep her a while longer and do her second quest. You need to go to her fathers funeral and meet her old boyfriend. You can take it from there. After that, you can get rid of her. Just a thought.

Provided she hasnt driven me to the brink of insanity by the end of her first quest, I just might do that. But as I will need a thief type to fill in until Imoen gets back, I will just have to deal with him for a bit.

On another topic altogether, I think I will try to have my Paladin pursue a love interest with Vic. I actually dont care much about the love interests (Married for 11 years with two kids.... hey how do you do a romance with NPC anyway?I am playing with me as a paladin too.
