i am in the city san something and the dragon wants all my stuff for a dam cup
is there any way to put gold some were so he wont get my 82000 dollors or how do i kill him

Throntar 05-22-2001 12:52 PM

Just take him on like you have the other dragons in the game. IMHO, he was the easiest of the bunch to beat. Didn't even need to use spells...or...leave all of your stuff for him http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...s/rolleyes.gif

No, you cannot "drop" your gold to the ground like other items, IIRC.

Now where did I leave that doughnut?!

Reeka 05-22-2001 01:06 PM

I agree, I just killed him, he wasn't that tough.

For me, he was tougher than the Shadow Dragon and the Silver Dragon, about the same as the Red for my first couple of games. The annoying part about him is the plant growth or the insect spells, so make sure your mages are not within range for these attacks. Generally, I've found lowering his resistance and hammer him with magic missiles and flaming arrows works fairly well. You should summon monsters (and a wizard eye) to force attack him so he wastes his more powerful spell/attacks on them instead of you.

Have you guys ever tried hacking up two or three dragons at once, to see if you can take them all on???
You know, the create monster command...what about two dragons and Kangaxx?
What about three of Kangaxx?
I am asking, because I never hear of anyone doing this, but I think it would be fun to try,,,if I thought I might actually win...

Shadow is the easiest! I killed it with my two mages running around!
This easier! Cast CALL LIGHTNING and run!

Halbred 05-22-2001 02:17 PM

Isn't Shadow indoors so call lightning doesn't work?

dafan 05-22-2001 03:35 PM

He's the easiest... really...try a disintergratespell http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Someone is actually having problems with the Black Dragon?!?! My level 17 Sorcerer killed him alone! Mordenkainens Swords and Lower Magic Resistance, then pummel him with Magic Missiles and other offensive spells while he chops away at the Mordenkainens Swords.

jc69 probably did not think that you could just up and attack him. his original post indicates that he was believing that he hadto surrender his stuff, and had not even tried to fight, yet.

Let him waste his Plant Growth on summonings - then wipe your ass on his head!

LMAO, these threads crack me up. There's at least 3 a week on each of the dragons and kangaxx. And everyone comes in acting macho about how they killed these guys. LOL, big deal, u got the pause button so any fight is easy. Try winning without pausing at all during the battle. I haven't tried this, but I'm not showing off either. Oh by the way, I completed the game a week after it came out last year. Oh big deal. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Another thing I don't understand is why ppl ask for help. Surely they can figure out how to defeat a monster. I didn't even KNOW about boards like this before I completed the game and I wouldn't have even thought about asking for help before I completed it because that spoils your sense of achievement. Anyone agree on this?
No offense intended to anyone http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Earthdog 05-22-2001 09:39 PM

I agree with Vaskez. I wiped the dragon out using basic summoning tactics. I thought this one was the easiest of all the dragons. I let it waste all its spells on my summoned creatures and then hit him with quivering palm by my monk.
Just a nice walk in the park.

caleb 05-22-2001 11:44 PM

I agree tancred I got bg2 the second day it was out and I waited till I beat it to look for a board like this cause I wanted to see if I missed any secrets.

After nearly 15 years of answering questions for people on a variety of topics, I've found that people ask for help for 2 reasons: 1) there is something they just haven't understood yet or 2) they don't want to work for the answers themselves. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...s/rolleyes.gif

the evil (yet expensive) way to kill this dragon:
step one: give him you gold
step two: he will pretty much totaly ingnore you now so just set up everything you got to attack
step three: ATTACK!

Thank you that is what I wanted to hear. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif 1) This might just be me, but I prefer to work things out for myself. Once I have done all I can, then I maybe read the boards to see if there are any secrets I missed http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif
2) EXACTLY. hehe. Why don't they let someone else play the game for them aswell? http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

LOL Earthdog, I think u fell into the trap there! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif OH he was so easy! OH I cained him with my level 9 bard! YEAH! LMAO! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Tom 05-23-2001 08:03 AM

The way i kill dragons is attack with a ranger with boots of speed and run around with cloak mirroring. And have edwin and jan cast spells at him.

Vaskez 05-23-2001 08:50 AM

Oh okay, I haven't played the game properly since February, but when I did, (this was for Firkraag) I had my solo half-orc barbarian summon an air elemental with the staff of air, summon kithix and summon a berserk warrior. Then drank a potion of frost giant strength and cast call upon holy might and had 25 strength. I then proceeded to pound Firkraag into the ground with my halberd. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif bow down to me now! I have defeated a dragon! Bow down! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif LMAO!

Black Knight 05-23-2001 12:17 PM

There are times when a different approach is needed. I don't advicate as soon as you find a boss, run over to ironworks and get the best way to beat it, then run back and slay anything. I do, however, think it is a good idea if you are having trouble with someone or something, to come here and get that push in the right direction. Or if you missed where part of the Vorpal Blade is, have someone tell you where it was that you missed it.

I did think that dragon was one of the easier due to having a party of high level. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
